OK, so now I'm beginning to stress about what to do with Ally when we go to Disney in September!
Since we're new to FL, we don't know a whole bunch of people. I have great neighbors, one has two boys ages kindergarten and third grade, and Ally will be in 2nd grade, so she'd probably be fine with them. In fact, I dream of Ally and the 3rd grader growing up together, going to prom together, he's such a sweet boy, and the famiy is great. The kids play together at least 2-3 times a week during the school year, walking home from the bus stop together, etc.
But I called my mom today to see if she wanted to come down to stay with Ally and that's a bad time for her. She's really involved in a theater group called Spotlight on Youth. They travel around to local schools and perform various plays geared to help kids with issues such as drugs, racism, violence, good touching vs bad touching, etc. It's an awesome program, geared to the various ages. And since September is so near the beginning of the school year, she is really busy booking the plays for the whole year. They travel up to 2 hrs away to do this.
So that leaves my in-laws. Oy vey! If only I were Jewish I could use that expression more often! It's a great expression!
My in-laws would probably come down, but they will want to bring their dog (which they always do!) and the little mutt is afraid of Bucky, so I'm afraid that they'd leave Bucky locked in our bedroom so their little princess could run around. Seriously, I won't take Bucky when we go to visit them anymore because my FIL gets so upset that their dog hides from Buck. Even though she comes out and plays with him, once she's had enough she hides. He feels bad for her. C'mon! She's a dog! They play, that's what dogs do!!!
Get this, they found this dog at the golf course where they live. They never called the pound, they never called local vets, they never put up fliers, to see if someone had lost this dog. It obviously belonged to a family with a young child because she instantly took to Ally. The only thing they did was put up 2 fliers in their neighborhood! Now they knew the dog didn't belong to anyone in there. It made me so mad that they never even tried to find the owners. I told Jeff that his parents basically "stole" this dog from some family. Seriously. If they wanted a dog, they could have gone to the pound and adopted one. Made me so mad. That's probably why I don't like the dog.
Then there is Ally's BFF who lives in our neighborhood, and quite frankly, I just don't like this little girl. I don't trust her. She's 7 and totally boy crazy. Plus, every time she comes over to play, something gets destroyed. And she tries to always be so grownup, like tattling on Ally for every little thing. Tries to be MY friend. I just get a bad vibe from her. So even though I know the parents would keep Ally while we're gone, I just don't like her with this girl for that long.
OK, rant over. But I still haven't solved my dilemma. Oy vey!
