The Country Bear Jamboree

How do you feel about the Country Bear Jamboree?

  • I love it, it's on my must do list

  • It's OK, I'll see it if I can, but if not, that's OK

  • Whatever. I don't really care either way

  • Not really my thing. I don't hate it, but don't really like it.

  • UGH, I can't stand it. Please get rid of it

  • I've never seen it, so I can't really say

  • Other (just because there needs to be an other)

I think few attractions at Disney can divide people's affection as much as this show can. For the most part it seems that people either love (mostly for nostalgia sake) or they think it's an eye sore that needs to go.

What is your opinion of this classic show?

Personally I really enjoy it. I fondly remember the first time I saw it (many, many moons ago). My Dad loved Big Al, and I remember him imitating Big Al's Blood on the Saddle for most of our trip. Since then the CBJ has been on my "must do list". It is true that the show is showing lots of signs of it's age, and I would dearly love to see it get a facelift, but I personally hope that they never take it down. About 6 years ago we had our first family vacation to WDW, and I was able to let my kids see the CBJ for the first time, and I was able to imitate Big Al for the rest of our trip. I don't think my kids liked it as much as I did though. They didn't mind it, but they would be just as happy to not see it again either.

So where do your CBJ feelings lie?

I would do the Country Bears Jamboree a lot more if I could actually hear the songs. But every time we've been in there, people have started clapping along to the songs and drowning out the words. Gets on my nerves and my husband doesn't like it either. So it's not on our list at all.

Although we will do it in January for our grandson's first trip. You have to at least experience the attraction once.

Our family goes every vacation ever since it opened. It's a must do for our family! We use to have the Country Bear Jamboree album...my mom still has it! When we (my brothers, cousins and I) were little we each pretended to be a specific bear and we would sing the songs. It's funny how some of us ended up looking like the bears we portrayed! LMAO One of my cousins is definitely Liver Lips McGrawl! LOL

I remember liking it as a kid, but when I went a year ago I was underwhelmed. I've changed in those 30 years.

My feelings are very 'eh', I tend to over-exaggerate and say I hate it - but its pretty harmless if you like that sort of thing. The animatronics creep me out and transport me to a dark place - one that is too close to Chuck E. Cheese for my liking. But I'm going to see it again in a few days, it won't kill me and my friend is really excited to see it - so it should be interesting.

I have always loved it and had to drag my DH in...but after our first trip with our son it may be easier for me to see it every time because he LOVED it! It may have just been his fav! I know that will prob change as he gets older, but one can dream! ;)

Your poll isn't very balanced. You have 1 positive question, 1 neutral, and 4 with differing degrees of negativity. We think the CBJ is good, and we like it, but we don't do it every time, and it's not one of our must do's. We do like it, however and to us it's one those attractions that separates Disney from being just another theme park.

Hmm, I don't know why you think there is only 1 postivie and 4 negatives? When I made it (and I still see it this way), it's more like:

1 - love it
2 - like it
3 - whatever
4 - don't really like it
5 - hate it
6 - can't say
7 - other

basically 2 positives (love and like), 1 neutral (whatever), and 2 negative (don't like, and hate).
Sorry if it comes across more negative than I meant.

I agree that it needs a bit of an overhaul, but it's nostalgic and my DD loves it...it's a must do for us. PLUS...it's a nice cool place to rest your feet. ;)

I would have voted that I see it if I have time (like it) but I voted other because what I would really like to see are the other two versions of the show. I liked seeing the Christmas version during the Holidays and I liked most of the songs from the Vacation version better than the original - other than the finale. But seeing as the currently running show is not a big drawing attraction I know that's not going to happen.

I was SOOO looking forward to this show when I went in May. It had been so many years since I visited - but I had such fond memories of this show. I was actually pretty disspointed. We were not in a crowded theatre - but I had such a hard time hearing anything. My family felt that it kind of dragged on. So overall, not sure that we would take the time to do it again...but we wouldn't be miserable going either. Just wish they would turn up the volume a little!

It for me says Walt Disney and I love it and must do it every trip.

Sorry for those who can't hear; I'm the one clapping, singing, and grinning ear to ear! Love Country Bears, still sorry I didn't buy a big stuffed Al, and we see it every trip! Family can sing any of the songs start to finish, and we know all 8 verses to "Mama Don't Whoop Little Buford" :goodvibes

I hit other, I'm not to sure how I feel about the attraction, its okay, but not my cup of tea, and I sort of feel inclined to "like" it considering my sister is a CM there and every time we go to the MK she forces us to go see it. Granted she has now seen it over 400 times, I wonder if she'll drag us on Wednesday...

That aside, I guess its okay.

But next time your visiting the Country Bear Jamboree or Tom Sawyer Island, and you see a cast member named Chelsea, go ahead and say hi! : )

I saw it once a few years ago, and don't really care if I ever see it again.

I love the CBJ. It brings back amazing memories of visiting Disneyland during my childhod. We've only been two WDW twice and I made my family suffer through it. :thumbsup2

It's a sentimental favorite of ours and a great place to cool off on a hot day!

We've seen it dozens of times, but were sitting next to newlyweds on our last trip and the guy was laughing his head off at Big Al. :goodvibes

I love Country Bears Jamboree! It's a classic! I love, love, love this show and hate the fact that usually when my family goes, we're the only ones in the theatre. it makes me sad that CBJ seems to be overlooked/forgotten attractions.

We went on our first trip last week and it wasn't on my to do list but it just so happened that we were trying to waste a little time and I thought my kids would enjoy it. They didn't hate it but I don't think they liked it either. I thought it was cute but reminded me a lot of old school Chuck E. Cheese (Showbiz Pizza days) and DH absolutely hated it. Needless to say, we won't ever ride it again but glad to say I did since I guess it's one of the "classics".
