The countdown is on

In exactly 40 days, my kids start back to school. They've been out 33 days so far. School is starting back a few days earlier than usual this year for kids in my area (August 4th ).

Anybody else counting down the days for the first day of school?

Mine have been out for 5!

I love summer vacation, and they do too, so we're holding on to time for dear life - no one is anxious to go back to school yet.

Judi, my kids got out on May 23rd. Next year, their last day is May 21st. My dd can't wait to go back. That means she gets to do a lot of shopping. Plus she'll be what I call a Senior of the Elementary School. She thinks that's just too cool. My ds is going to miss his tv.

Ha, Shannon, your daughter is a girl after my own heart! I *loved* back to school shopping as a girl - in fact, I liked the ritual so much I still do heavy back-to-school shopping in the late summer, even though I don't go to school anymore.

May 23rd - wow, my kids would love that! They always get out in late June and start back the last week of August.

Judi, I wish you'd take my dd shopping. She's a shop-a-holic and I don't like to go shopping too much.

There are a couple of schools around here that start back the last week of July.

My kids have been out of school 19 days and they have almost 70 days of summer left......we're starting after Labor Day this year, a first!

DD just got out of school on 6/18, one week ago today. I think they go back the day after Labor Day.

DD's last day was Friday. So far, she's been very easy to handle, sleeping in, reading Harry Potter and going to a sleepover. Today she's at Six Flags with a school group. It's been busy for her. But I'm sure that "I'm so bored" thing will creep in soon. Good thing I have a long list of chores...

Our school year runs from September 1 to June 24 (or thereabouts).

Our modified school year runs from August 1 to June 24 with a two-week "holiday" about every eight weeks.

DDs last day was May 23. School starts on Aug 25, but she won't go back until Sep 2 (day after Labor Day) because mom miscalculated the dates , and we will be at WDW Aug 24 -30. . Good thing she is only in pre-school!
