I know it is owned by the same company as Food Network. And I know it is about a year old.... but what is the point?

The same shows are shown over, and over, and over, and over, and over....... and most of them are pretty bad, IMO. I would much rather watch reruns of all the old Food Network shows than "B" Kitchen - if you know which show I mean.... not a Dis friendly word.... The only show I kind of enjoy there is Spice Goddess. And I think there are only about 6 episodes of that show.

I can't believe the same company that owns Food Network would want to own such a crappy channel.

Give me reruns of Taste, Two Hot Tamales, Grillin' and Chillin', Cooking Live, Michael's Place......

Do we really need Food Jammers? :scared1:

I have never heard of it. I might have to give it a look

It's like an extremely poor man's version of Food Network. I doubt it has 1/50th of the budget of Food Network.

I really, really wanted to like this channel as I can't stand all the reality and contests on Food Network anymore.

Two fat ladies!

Oh and the original Julia Child

I don't get the Cooking channel but from what I have seen on free previews I don't see a need for it. It is like when Disney used ABC Family as the ABC primetime re-run channel.

I've never seen an original Cooking Channel show. I always just see old Food Network re-runs (though picture quality is bad).

They have lots of really bad independently produced shows.... and most of them seem to have less than 7 or 8 episodes.

I like Chuck's Day Off and Hungry Girl. I also like the old Julie Child shows.

I love Chuck's Day Off and I know someone who was on Food(ography) on Sunday night!

I love watching Julia Child's original show, it brings back such memories. I have a few favorites that I watch like Mario Batali and Aida Mollenkamp. I am looking forward to Mark Bittman's The Minimalist, showing on Sunday mornings.
I love The Food Network but I am so sick of seeing the same old people on it, so I like The Cooking Channel just because it has a different line-up.

We don't get the Cooking Channel, but I am really tired of all the cooking competitions/cook-offs/cake building shows that are on the Food Network. I much prefer the old fashioned, maybe you can actually learn to cook something, type shows. For me, the best shows on the Food Network are the cooking shows that come on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

(P.S. I also like the regular type cooking shows that on on the Create Channel.)

I've been watching Avec Eric. I think he's too subtle to do well on Food Network, but I like that different kind of cooking show.

I like it. It's more like how the Food network used to be.

The onl thing I have ever watched on there is Hungry Girl. The Food Network is a total mess these days. Sandra Lee, Rachael Ray, and their ilk pretty much dumbed it down.

I'm getting tired of the reality shpws on FN, too. I like to cook and have tried several things that I have seen on tv, but I agree that they are dumbing it down too much. Last week, The Barefoot Contessa made a BLT. Really? I don't care how "good" the mayo is, my 7 year old could do that.

I think this is why. Lot's of people didn't like the direction in which Food Network has evolved, so they decided to offer the "old style" too.

I can't even stand the previews for that show - I have to change the channel or turn down the volume!

I do, however, find Extra Virgin strangely charming. And Kelsey's Essentials - is that on Cooking Channel? I think so.

Same shows? Nadia G, Mookin, reruns of 2 fat ladies, and julia child

I happen to like the channel

Because my step mom just can't deal with Guy, The Neeleys, or Iron Chef. It's not a cooking show to her unless there's lush landscaping, classical music and food that I can't pronounce or even want to eat.

I would watch reruns of two fat ladies but other than that I've not liked much else (I don't ever take over the tv in someone elses house, and she likes it I have watched some). I guess I just don't see a lot of personality in the hosts, there's a couple that are so darn monotone that I just want to puncture my own eardrums, I also like more modern cooking for the most part and am not a 'classical' fan.

However honestly there are only 3 or so shows I really like on FC as well.

America's Test Kitchen however, totally rocks!
