I tried to post this as part of my previous post but something went wrong. So if it turns up there as well I appologise!
I phoned France again to book my trip this evening. Remember I now had a quote for room only and was told that I would have to buy my annual passes before I checked in.
Only latest woman told me this was not possible. 'But I have already been quoted' i sighed. 'Impossible' she replied. 'But I have!'. 'Impossible!' Well you get the drift!
She was adamant that room only is only available to annual pass holders. When I asked how anyone who does not live on the doorstep (and then presumably would not need a room only booking anyway!) gets to become an annual passholder she turned quite snooty and said that she didn't know but she couldn't help me! 'But I did all this last year and have the annual pass to prove it but it expires before we want to go again!' Yes yu guessed it -'Impossible!' She said that all I could do was to phone the annual passport office about a month before we wish to travel and see if they would let me buy one over the phone, then book the room. I explained the problem with that was that a) All rooms may be gone by then - especially the 2 bedroom cabins at DCR that I wanted to book and b) I would have to buy my annual passes a month earlier than I needed and thus loose a month off their usefulness the other end. But by this time I knew that I was fighting a loosing battle - anythin else was of course 'Impossible!'.
I hung up very angry and close to tears I was so frustrated!
Then I thought, surely the Shareholders Club booking line would know what to do. They must get these enquiries all the time, right? Wrong presumably! While the girl was more amiable then 'Madame Impossible' she too insisted that it could not be done. When I explained that it could because I had done it in the past she went off to ask someone else. Several nminutes later she returned to say that her supervisor said it could not be done either. So I asked her to expalin how I had managed to get my previous annual pass (which at this time is still valid) unless I could have made a room only booking. She was stumped! Off to her supervisor with this one! Came back and said that she would use my old annual pass to make the booking but I would have to get my annual passes before checking in. Yes!! we were back to where I was after my call the other night! No not quite! She said that I was not entitled to shareholders discount on a room only booking! Oh God! By this time I had nearly lost the will to live! 'But it is listed as a benefit of the shareholders club' I wailed! 'No, only on packages'. 'But I have done it before' I nearly screamed!! Please ber in mind when reading this that I am talking to the 'dedicated booking line for sharehoders club members'!!!!!
Another lengthy chat with her supervisor and I miraculously had my 5% discount which probably amounted to little more than the cost of myinternational phone calls. But it was a matter of principal by now!
Now hands up those who think I will be writing a letter of complaint!
