Work has been oppressive lately. This was a welcome change.

Sorry about the beer cans in the back of the room. If we throw them in the bonfire, they will melt into the air causing "heavy air", which will mix with the ozone and ensure a silver (er aluminum) lining on every cloud.

I think Hanna is more of a party than a storm, but IIRC SM is east of me (and I'm in the outer outer western fringes of the storm). I just thought of her tonight, what with tropical systems rumbling around and all.

Right now it's just a nice steady rain, which we really need. We're in far north Raleigh, near Wake Forest. I hope everyone in the path of this storm, and the ones to come, stay safe.

WOW you guys have been busy. There's no way I'm going back to read 40+ pages between the 2 threads that I missed today. As you all know I was at the McCain/Palin rally in Sterling Heights MI. Of course I would have posted these a little while ago, but after standing in line for 3 hours to get in, waiting another 3 hours for them to speak, and taking another 2 hours to get out of the parking lot, the LazyBoy (or as I call it, the sleeping pill) was calling me when I got home. So after a 3 hour nap, here are the pictures.

Congresswoman Candice Miller is standing right behind Palin here: (Just a Side note, I marched with her in a parade 2 years ago, she's a wonderful lady and a real asset to MI!) [/shameless plug]

After the speeches, we rushed the stage :

I was only 4 bodies away from McCain here: After this photo, it was turning into a 1970's WHO concert so I had to get out of there.

This was DH's favorite pic of the day:

We had a wonderful (yet exhausting) day. If anyone gets a chance to go to a McCain rally, I would highly recommend it. This really is history in the making!

There were a couple of men that were held at the Hanoi Hilton that spoke. They were very moving. One of the men, when he was telling his story about his time there, started to break up a little bit and had to pause to maintain his composure. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.

There was also a speaker who always voted Democrat until this election. She told a great story, I'm going to see if I can find her on youtube and post the link up here. It's something EVERY democrat should listen to. (maybe I should post it on the OS thread instead. )

Also, I just wanted to let everyone know, I googled the McCain rally here and found a site that was trying to gather 1000 people to protest outside the rally. Their huge protest turned out to be 3 people (no joke).

I wish DH had taken a picture of that.

Jiminy Christmas you guys! I took off for a few hours, came back and we had a thread with eleven pages. While I have been reading it, it has jumped to 19 pages. By the time I type this I'll probably be on at LEAST page 20! You folks have been having a heck of a party without me!

Just wanted to check in, thank Breezy for french dips, buckeyes and cheesecake (the midnight snack of champions) and now I'm going to mix up some of the Cap'n and see if I can possibly catch up with this thread...EVER!

How awesome it must have been to go to the rally! I wish McCain and Palin would come here, but I doubt they will.
