Hey.. I like the green stuff! LOL
I like Dr Pepper.
Way OT...
(but hope somebody can help...)
Any suggestions for test prep for the SAT's?
My second oldest took it last month, and he did okay, but he would like to raise his scores.
He wants to study for it, but I'm not sure what is the best way.
He did good in critical reading, but not as well as he was hoping in math and writing.
We homeschool, so we won't get any help from anyone at high school.
Thanks for any ideas, suggestions, etc.![]()
Oh, and what I was speaking of last night: on the Restaurants board on the DIS - they have a food thread that they jokingly refer to over there as "food porn" and people actually take pictures of their food at WDW and post it. I don't think that I could ever do it (with the exception of this:

this thing was so huge that I had to take a pic of it. I could barley fit my mouth around the thing to take a bite. It was fresh Oatmeal Raisin cookies with I don't know how many scoops of vanilla ice cream packed inside from the Main Street Bakery. Soooo gooood)
but I do love to look at all of those pictures people post of their food, even if Im too embarrassed to take my own when Im there..... And then for some reason I make an insane amount of ADR's for my next Disney trip.![]()
Welcome!I think I've gained 10 pounds from just *reading* this thread.
Thanks a lot!!![]()
That'd be my guess as well!i suspect it's all sorta "to taste". for me that'd mean pounds and pounds of butter and cheese.

Yikes! I bet it looks great! When I was in HS, I helped my mom redo our kitchen. We took the wallpaper down and were shocked to find about 5 layers of the stuff practically melded onto the wall underneath it that the previous owners had left. Oh, that was a pain. Painting seemed easy as pie after that.Painting the kitchen.![]()

It's taken me the WHOLE week, every day after work. Taking the cupboard doors down, removing the hardware then painting. I've been up til midnight every night this week. Boy am I glad it's over.![]()
I'll post a pic when my camera is done charging.
If Pelosi was a Republican, I would officially never call myself a Republican ever again. Ever.I was talking to my MIL and FIL the other day about how bad this Congress and Speaker Pelosi is. While my FIL agreed, my MIL says that it will all change when the Dem's take over in January. I figured that she was talking about BO, but she thinks that Pelosi is a Republican and that the Dem's will take over control in January. She would not listen to any reason about the fact that the Dem's have been in control for two years. In her world they weren't and all this mess is 100% the fault of the Republicans and their speaker of the house.
Thanks, transparent! That was great.Thought you guys would like this:
Me too! Only place I ever see it at is the buffet at Shoney's. Which I don't eat, so it's kind of a moot point.Hey.. I like the green stuff! LOL

Here's a cool database we have at our library - and it's free to those out of state --
http://www.learnatest.com/LearningE...hislibrary.org/libcat/librarywebdatabases.htm
You just create a username/password then go to the practice test you want. They're timed, too - and if you can't finish one, you can stop the timer and go back to it. Pretty neat.
Everyone had great ideas for you. The test books that they sell in bookstores are very helpful for a lot of people. I admittedly didn't study for the SATs (only took the practice test they sent with registration), but I had to for the GREs because I'd forgotten a lot of the math. I used a practice book and a CD-ROM. It served me well. Good luck to your DS!
Also, has he taken the ACT? That is a bit easier test, and many colleges accept that or the SAT. Even some tough schools like mine would convert the ACT score into an SAT score and would count whichever was higher (i.e. say you got a 1200 on the SAT and an ACT score that was converted into an SAT score of 1300, they'd count the 1300 score). If a student is going to take the SAT, I almost always encourage them to also take the ACT.

I know. I'm fascinated with that era, from the 30's to the 50's. I was born in the wrong part of the century.OT, but Subsonic is playing some fab music from the Tower of Terror area... I'm guessing it's from the 40s or so?
Ah, the bygone era where most people had manners and high standards... Contrast that to today, and, well...![]()

Same here.
Ah well. We can commiserate over pizza, breadsticks, and Chicken Caesar Salad.

That was honestly the best chicken Casear salad I've ever eaten anywhere. I will be getting it again in April.![]()
I'm listening, too - SD, thanks! Great music...
I'm pretty fascinated with that era, too - I would have made a great Rosie the Riveter!
But, one thing I like to remember - to keep me optimistic about the times we are in .... life has never been perfect in any era. Back in the 30s, folks were struggling through a REAL depression, European countries were toppling like a house of cards, parents were terrified that their children would contract polio, mumps, measles, the flu - all treatable now but terminal back then. And don't even talk about cancer - even since I was born in the late 60s, cancer has become so much more treatable - amazing...
Then, when you think about certain demographics - the AA community was discriminated against without reprisal, women weren't taken seriously, forget about native Americans....
I don't mean to get all warm/fuzzy lib - I promise! But, we as a nation, have really made some tremendous strides - technologically, medically, and in the area of civil rights - since the 30s, 40s, 50s.
The different seems to be that, back in 'the day,' the degenerate parts of society were just that - and they stayed away from the view of the media. Sure, folks were all sorts of immoral back then - but this was kept away from 'nice company.' Not a bad idea in some respects, considering our terrible fascination with Springer-types of programming - in others, however, things should have been exposed much earlier - racism for one.
Now, I think we've swung too far in the other direction - I'd love some good old-fashioned entertainment without a leftward bias. Innocence would be nice, too. On TV even...crazy idea, that one...
All that to say, we do have a lot to be thankful for now - and we all have the capacity to influence our world for generations to come in this crazy generation we're in. The cool thing about looking back is that those folks from the 30s, 40s, and 50s made it through their tumultuous times. I hope we'll be able to say the same thing in a couple of decades....
[sorry for the rant, I'm mainly preaching to myself -- be thankful, be thankful, be thankful, be thankful]
