i have a few questions about the disney christmas parade .
We watched yesterday on tv.....first of all when is it? is actaullly live or is it taped earlier? next question..since my children were watching and my older girl who will be 13 by the time we get there, we were wondering- do the people get to met any of the stars? i tried so hard not to give anything away, ( the trip is hopefully going to stay a surpirze for 364 days yet LOL-christmas presents next year) but i had asked her how cool thta would be to be there at christmas and see those people :)

thanks so much- also do thye do any type of new years stuff? and parades or stars there?

happy new year all!

Hi Misty. And Happy New Year to you and family. :wave2:

This year's parade was fimed, for the most part, on Friday and Saturday, December 5th and 6th. Regis and Keli should have been there then also for the taping, however, with the snow storm up north then, they actually came in on Sunday the 7th to do their parts, then they edit all the parts together to make it appear live (though this year I thought it was pretty lame). Other parts, like resort spots and the like, may or may not be taped at those times. I know the spots with actor people from soap stuff was done back in early November (I think that is the time) during Soaps time at WDW. Then they can also splice in stock footage of rides and that.

I was in MK on that Sunday, (thinking the taping part was over)(did not want to be there then) and did see some of the taping of parade segments. Rather strange seeing one float going by, no music, no real crowd, characters waving and jumping around, LOL. Also, the 'crowds' are all placed and called upon to cheer and that on cue. A call was put out for people to come to MK on Fri/Sat for taping and several I heard from afterwards said it was not the best of experiences.

As in past years, I stay away from MK when I know they are filming the parade. Hope I have not been too much a downer, raining on the parade, LOL, but my honest observations here. However, the real parade is as magical as can be, one not to be missed. :)

Gotta agree with Dan. I know the parts with Regis & Kelly were filmed on Sunday (because I saw that bit) and it was OBVIOUS that most of the other stuff was filmed on other days (or in some cases, other months!).

Thanks for the FYI Dan. I was wondering how they did all that. You could tell it had be done on different days by the clouds in the sky! R&K had a beautiful cloudless day.:sunny:

We saw Regis and Kelly too on Sunday, Nov 7. We were suppose to fly home that day but all flights were canceled into Boston so since we had APs we went back to MK for the day and slept near the aiport for our early Monday morning flight!
