Just thought I'd share how you can really have family fun at low cost.
First of all, I'm traveling by car with 3 other couples and several children. All of us are driving our own cars from St. Louis, MO. We booked and paid for our vacation at the Westgate Lakes -Timeshare (90 min presentation required TRUST ME AT THE 91st MINUTE WE LEAVE) its near International Drive (about 10 minutes from Disney - We like the excitement, convience, and thrill of International Drive (Westgate does have a location less than a mile from Disney called Westgate Villas - I'm assuming the prices are the same).
We are staying for 8 days 7 nights in a 2 bedroom suite (sharing with another couple so we are paying half) for only $560 total ($280 a piece). It's a beautiful place -we stayed there last year- go to www.westgatevacations.com to see for yourself. The suite has a with fully equipped kitchen, Hot Tub -in master bedroom, big screen tv, leather sofa sectional, washer and dryer in unit, 6 pools, and plenty of non disney family fun). All the rooms at the Westgate Lakes and Villas are nice, and are homes away from home. Westgate also has a new Timeshare Hotel that you can get for 8 days 7 nights plus 2 disney tickets for only $495. It's not as big as the Villas or The Lakes, but they do have full Kitchens. Go to www.floridavacationstore.com for this package and number.
Second, I bought 4 disney adult tickets on Ebay for $175 (me and my husband), and 2 childs ticket for $40 a piece. We might do more days at disney but we haven't made up our minds.
$535 is all we've spent and our hotel is paid for and our disney tickets too.
Also, if you don't want to be bothered with a timeshare presentation, your on a budget and have friends and families that work at hotel branches like Marriots and Hilton - they can get a great discount for you. For example we were originally going to stay at Residence Inn - at Disney Maingate (a Marriot hotel) a 2 bedroom suite was only $45 a day. The same applies with the Hilton and Embassy Suites - non suite hotels are cheaper than $45 a night.
