The Castle

I absolutely love what they did to the Castle, not at all gaudy. It's a lot more tastefully done with the gold than that big, bright, tacky pink nightmare that was the Cake. Ew. I wouldn't mind if they'd keep the gold spirals around the spires. Well, that may be pushing it because nothing tops the original. But I loved looking at it when I was there last week. I'd give my right arm to go back to last week.

cdpa4d -- Last week when I was there for nights at MK the Castle looked breathtaking when it was lit up. They still put the different colors on it (blue, purple, and that weird amber-ish color) and it does look like it sparkles, or "pixie dust." I loved it!

Does anyone have pictures of the pink fluffy cake castle? It's getting to be kinda like when someone smells something nasty and goes "ewwww" and you say "what? Let me smell it"...well...."What? Let me see it" :p

THATS JUST TOO FUNNY lizzybee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lizzybee: Go to #28 on this thread (page 2), Safetymom has some pictures of the bday castle.

Yes if you go to the photo.epson. site listed below the pictures are in an album 25th Anniv. castle.

Thanks! It reminded me of the Candyland Game. I'm not sure if my kids liked it or not they kind of distractedly said "wow" and walked away. lol

I never saw the birthday cake castle but from what I can see in the pictures I like it. Although sometimes seeing it in person is a whole diffrent thing !!

Haha! The opposite of our favorite: "Ew! This is gross...Taste it!"

I don't remember the big mirror thingy being in the original "artist renderings" that were circulating before we had actual pics...does anyone remember those links of what we thought it was going to look like.....I wonder if the mirror thing was an afterthought that should have been forgotten....:(

I don't care if they paint it lime green (how cool would that be?!?). I just want to be there standing in front of it!

I could do without the mirror, too, though.

We were there before they put the mirror up and we really liked the gold decorations a lot. The gold swirls twinkle in the sunlight and really make the castle beautiful. I didn't find it gaudy until they put that big mirror up. We had seen it by the monorail tracks the day before they installed it and even though we weren't going to MK that day, we saw that it was up and decided to go take a look. Not liking it - way over the top. We really miss the clock.

I guess I'm the only one who likes the mirror. I can't wait to see what they do with it. I think that it looks best from a distance (which is how much people see it). A lot of those photos are just too close up. Overall, I think the gold and accents look beautiful! I don't think it's gawdy at all. I also thought the birthday cake castle was really cool.

Has anyone seen it at night lit up. I have not, but I bet the gold accents light up like Pixie Dust. I bet it looks beautiful. Has anyone seen it at night that can comment on it?
ADP :goodvibes

I saw it a couple of months ago as they were starting to put up the decorations. Before Wishes, when the castle is changing colors - it was BREATH TAKING! The gold takes on which ever color they are shining on the castle at the time. I could sit and look at it for hours like that!

I can't say that I don't (won't) like new decorations (haven't seen it in person yet,) but I'm really bummed that my DD4 will not see the "traditional" castle on her first trip to Disney. :sad1:

I think the mirror looks much better in person. Also the last of the wall around the hub is down. As soon as it quits raining I want to go over to the park and take pictures.

What year was the 25th anniversary? I honestly think that I saw that castle on a trip before I understood anything about Disney. Maybe I just saw the pics...??? :confused3 At any rate, I think the cake thing doesn't even count as a castle. Imagine the dollars to create that thing! :scared1:
I do like this temporary decorated version. I'm thinking of it like holiday decorations. You know how at first it looks so beautiful and then after about 4 weeks it starts to not look so great? Well, I've been watching the transition and now I regret it a little! LOL! I think I would love it for the couple days we will actually be in MK...if I hadn't seen it for the past few months!

I like the gold accents and characters, but I'm not digging the mirror. It looks too big for the castle. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if the frame wasn't gold, and matched the castle more.
I have to say, though, that it doesn't look nearly as bad in the pictures where the photographer is further away from the castle.

I think the mirror looks kind of pretty. I'm sure that there's a reason that it's that big. You wouldn't be able to see what was in the mirror from a distance if it was any smaller. It looks beautiful in that picture in front of the Minnie/Roy statue, for example.
