The Castle

THANK YOU MINNIEMOM! These are fabulous. I will curse my brother back down in Florida for not getting pictures for me. He works at the Poly and can see it from there. These are fantastic though. It figures I lived in Florida my whole life and was there for that horrid pink cake (what were they thinking) but of course I miss the pretty castle, at least I'll get to see it soon! I must admit though the oval mirror does look a bit out of proportion but it still looks great. I love it!

From the pictures I've seen the gold trim and accents look nice, but that big oval mirror looks horrible. I'm hoping it doesn't look as bad in person. :rotfl2:

I like the gold trim and golden characters and I thought it looked so nice but with the magic mirror it's just too much now. Hopefully the changing photos on the mirror will make up for this cumbersome looking thing. I have less than 90 days now and I will see it first hand. :cool1:

I really like all the characters, but not sure if I like the total look. I like the closeups of all the characters, especially the Alice in Wonderland ones.

When I saw some early pics with a little bit of gold added, I thought it looked really pretty. Then saw the characters added...a cute touch and still looked pretty. Then there was a little more gold added...ok slow it down a little with the gold. Now the newest pictures I think it just looks too gaudy. They went overboard with the gold and should have stopped after the initial set of characters were put on. :sad2:

Ok, I'm in the minority. I loved the castle cake. Bought the t-shirt with the 2 castles, one in the back the other in the front. Can't wait to see the new castle! Was going to go yesterday, but we ended up at Sea World.

I'm in that minority, too. I thought the pink castle looked great! I have that t-shirt, too! :teeth: From the pictures I've seen, I love the look of the this castle, too. I can't wait to see it in person! I only have one month to wait! :goodvibes

I like the gold but the mirror is just too much. It is not terrible but I think it would look much better without it.

Now when it was decorated as the birthday cake :crazy2:

I liked everything they did . . . until the mirror! The gold trim is not over done, but that huge mirror is so out of proportion to the castle. Just my opinion.
Nope. That's my opinion, too! :earboy2:

I too, hated the cake castle. I don't know, it wasn't a biggie for us since we're nuts and all our disposable income goes to road tripping for long weekends to disney, but for those people who only get to go once every few years or so, seeing "The Castle" is a big deal, and if your only shot to see for years is when it looks like an overdone wedding cake for the Gotti's, well, that's a bummer. We just got back and I only saw the castle at night during the EMH on my birthday (March 2, I'm 35 but don't let that get out), and it looked the same to me as it normally does because it was just too dark to make out the new details. I don't remember the mirror so I think it wasn't up yet. The pictures look cool, though, it's less like they obscured the original castle and more like they just tarted it up-you can still see the 'real girl' underneath all the gilded finery, and I'm okay with that.

Well I've only seen the pictures, but I like what i see. Tell me, am I the only person who thought the pink birthday cake castle was GREAT?? I wish it had stayed that way, i loved it.

I too liked the pink birthday cake castle. I knew it was not going to stay that way forever, so I enjoyed it and was glad to have gotten to see it. I think the castle looks great this way too and can't wait to see it in person. If the mirror is a bit out of scale with the castle, it's ok with me, cause I know it won't last forever this way either.

I really like the gold edging and the flying characters, but I agree that the "mirror" is a bit over the top!

Ditto!! If only the mirror was just a bit smaller - way too big!! :sad2:

I need to see it in person....
But first impressions from the pictures....
Definitely.... the oval thing was WAY TOO MUCH! Out of proportion and just does not belong there! Not liking it at all!!!
As for the gold.....looking at the pictures....I am leaning towards the OP....like something Barbie and Ken would live in.
Almost like they started out with a great idea....ad some gold touches and then someone kept saying....
"OOHHHH.....MORE MORE......let's add more!!!"
LIke they couldn't control themselves.
Disney has got to learn when to say "STOP!"

I havent gotten to see the castle yet "in person" but the pics I think are beautiful. Ive been reading on here that a lot of people didnt like the cake castle. I also thought it was beautiful, I loved it. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. :flower:

I just don't like that the giant mirror covers the clock!!! The clock is so important to the story of Cinderella and I will miss seeing it when I go in May...

Ok.........well I have lots to say bout this newly decorated castle!

First of all, it DOES look better than the B'day Cake Castle. That was just plain out ugly. I didnt like the pink fluff and all that. EECH!

From the pics I have seen...I think some of it is very pretty...but everyone is right...a bit too much.

WHAT IS UP WITH THE BIG MIRROR THINGY? Not loving that so much!

And the GOLD swirly things, those are a grand touch! I do love that.

But the characters all around it? NOOOOOOOOO! I think those are over-shadowing the GOLD accents that are around the spires and the GOLD tassels and all that stuff.

I will be seeing it in April when we go, and I will make more of an opinion then. Maybe it will float my boat in person. We will see. :scratchin

Although I love the original castle with all my heart, it is good to see changes, and well, at least I will have more castle pics for my WDW albums.
New photo ops!

Oh well........time will tell :hourglass

Has anyone seen it at night lit up. I have not, but I bet the gold accents light up like Pixie Dust. I bet it looks beautiful. Has anyone seen it at night that can comment on it?
ADP :goodvibes
