planning a split stay, with our last 4 nights being at the cabins. May 2016. I have 3 kids- ages will be 10,6,almost 4. My 10 yr old is super excited! So tell me, what are your favorite things about the cabins? We will likely rent a golf cart while we're there.

The amount of room you will have is great. The deck is very nice, as well. We rented a golf cart while we were there, and personally would not do it any other way.

Are there chairs for the deck? Should we bring our own bag chairs or fold up chairs?

There's a wooden picnic table. We love the cabins. My kids love riding around the campground on a golf cart almost as much as they do the rides in the parks.

Love having a car right outside our door.

Love the full kitchen.

Love the pool.

Love visiting the Disney horses.

Love watching fireworks on the beach.

Love biking around in the morning and evening. Great trail to Wilderness Lodge.

Love the boat to MK.

Kids love bunk beds.

Lots to love!

My boys' favorite things were:
1. the golf cart! and
2. the pool party and games at the Meadow Swimming Pool!

And there was a picnic table on our deck when we stayed there.:thumbsup2

My, er, um, er, favorite thing about staying at the Cabins was to, er, um, er, be able to sit outside on the deck at the picnic table in my, er, um, PJs. I was the first one up and took my laptop out there, plugged it in to the outside outlet, and just sat at the picnic table until........ my new granddaughter, at the age of five (my son had just proposed to her mother) came out since she was next up. Then she and I (both in PJs) would talk and get to know each other and watch as our neighbors came out (all in PJs) and walked and just relaxed. The only sounds we heard were each other and birds and small animals. My new granddaughter also learned so much about nature on that trip since her grandfather and her new great-grandfather showed her how to approach the small animals with care. Her smiles were the best thing about the Cabins. Oh, and being able to sit in PJs on the deck.

PROS:
Size
Deck with BBQ grill(bring foil)
Full size fridge and freezer
microwave and toaster
Boat to MK
Horses and ponies
Nature Trails
Mickeys Backyard BBQ
Hoop Dee Doo
Trails End TS
Nature
Having car at your doorstep

CONS:
Bedroom setup, full size bed right up against the wall:(
Unsupervised kids in golf carts (nearly got hit twice)
Pool (small slide with basic pool)
Murphy bed was not very comfortable(okay if you like soft beds)

Thanks!!! Yeah we'll def have to get a golf cart! My kids love them!! Haha I'm excited, my kids really will love this place!!!

And I'm 99.9% sure I secured a new job today (recently became unemployed) so my disney fund will be on its way again :) :) yay!!

You really don't need a golf cart. It sounds fun and all that but it's an expensive splurge (about $65/day for the 4-seater and $85/day for the 6-seater). The pics I've seen of the 4-seater show the back seat facing backwards, so that could be problematic for your young ones.

We walked to the bus stop from our cabin, and never waited more than a few minutes for a Ft Wilderness bus in either direction. The bus drivers were absolutely the friendliest people in Disneyworld. The bus routes take you to all the places you need to go. Just my opinion.

I agree too. With the trip we made with the new granddaughter, she was five and the oldest person was over 80. Yes,she met a ton of her new relatives. We didn't do the golf cart at all. We just all walked to the bus stop and did those.

For a thrill - you can rent a cart for one day for fun and have a good time riding all around the campground. You might want to think about it and then see once you check in.

Golf cart is not necesary but we love it. You can go to the Meadows for all the recreation easily, grab something from the Trading Post, or pick up a Giddy up and Go takeout bucket of chicken! The cabin pool is very nice and basic (no slide) but there is a hot tub. We never have a problem getting a table with umbrella there.

The main pool is very nice. I'm not sure when PP stayed there, but the slide is not a basic one any more. It has a big water tower with a curly slide, a nice kids splash area and a great snack bar/food options.

Definitely go to the Chip and Dale sing-along and movie one night (once again, golf cart is great for that). You must also hit the beach for fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant (at 9:45 every night).

We bought cheap seat and table cover set for the picnic table and used that mostly, but we've also brought the bag chairs for more comfort.

The beauty of the cabins for me is that there is no one sharing any walls with you, so you don't hear footsteps, conversations, flushing toilets, showers, yelling or babies crying. If you have a little one, you don't have to worry that someone is being kept awake in another room by a crying baby at all hours of the night. And the nature, and the peaceful feeling. It's absolutely beautiful.

Dh and I would stay there every time, but kids like to move around a bit. For the price and the amenities, the Fort is the best!!!

Does anyone know what percentage historically the cabins get on room discounts?

Generally, the cabins will get 20%, occasionally 25%. They are considered mods, although the most expensive of the mods.

Does anyone know what percentage historically the cabins get on room discounts?

Generally 20%. Price out your stay, with just a room and no tickets or dining, then multiply by .8 to get the discounted number.
