Hey all,

I now live in Brampton, Ontario. I can see Pearson airport from my 12th floor balcony. I can also see the Toronto Downtown Landscape. Since the tradgedy of September 11th, the lights from the C.N. Tower, have been turned off at night. I go out onto the balcony every evening hoping the lights will be back on.
If we are to overcome this, we must do our best to get back to normal. That includes turning on the lights. Everytime I look off my balcony and see darkness, well you know.
We have to start to live again. Love again. Forgive again.
I don't know any other way to deal with this. I don't want these people to think that they have broken us. I don't want those who died to think that we are giving in. So. anyone, help me. How do we show the world, our children that there is much more love, than there is hate?
Turn on the lights. Get on the planes. Say hello to the person on the elevator. Hold the door open for someone. Pray for the one who were lost. Pray for the ones left behind. Pray for the ones yet to be.
God Bless One and All

I agree - it's time to put things such as the CN tower back to the way they were before Sept 11. The flags have gone back to full mast and other symbols of our country should do likewise.

I've always taught my children that love starts in the home and reaches out to neighbors, relatives, classmates, etc. Also to always think of others at home, school, the workplace, and all over the world and not just ourselves.

As Canadians we can be very proud of our reaching out and helping others- we took in people from stranded flights, we take in refugees and immigrants freely. We have been aware of the situation in Afghanistan in Canadian magazines for a number of years and Canadian women were working at changing their situation.

I also feel as Canadians we are always looking outside of our country and care about what is going on all over the world. And not to get resources or benefits for ourselves but to genuinely give and help from the heart. I'm glad to see our Prime Minister stand firm in these values and beliefs that make us feel good about being Canadians.

Tony Blair's speech he gave yesterday was excellent - it gave me hope for a better world. Only a small part of it was about the terrorist(The only part that got lots of American press) - he addreseed every problem in the world today and said there are solutions if every have nation has the will to help in the right way.

I plan to find a copy of this speech and keep a copy because my teens are also looking for answers to all these world problems- India, China, etc. And it feels good to have an influential politician have such a well rounded perspective on all the issues.

I am getting frustrated with the narrow view of the world that the US media presents. Whenever somebody starts to give a more complete picture they are always quickly cut off by the news person and shifted back to what the media wants to present.

Isn't this how these attacks were allowed to happen - by only focusing selectivley on what they wanted to hear and think and not see the all the complexity in what is happening in our world.

America is a wonderful country with wonderful people- I just prefer the way our media reports. We get all the unbiased information.

Well said Linda and Dumbo! I too think that it's time to get on with our lives. Turn the lights back on and let them shine as a beacon of hope and belief in the future.
