do you think the bunk beds would be big enough for a teenager who is about 5' 11"

trying so hard to plan for next year. if we don't get the THV we will need a 2 bedroom plus a studio so will need more points, dilema is I am having to pay cash for some nights this year so would use these spare points this year to save doing this if we didnt have to go for the 2 bedroom plus the studio next year

How many of you are there going? I am sure the bunk beds are full size.

Claire ;)

I'm assuming they will be the size of a standard twin. Not ideal for an adult but manageable. We will have adults using them in Sept. But it's Disney! They'll be so tired from having fun all day that they won't even notice if the bed is a little short.:thumbsup2

5 in total for the first week then 7 in total for 2 more days after that

thought about putting our ds and his gf in the bunk rooms but they looked small on the picture however I know pictures can be deceivng and here in the UK our bed sizes are so different from the USA , USA are more generous, here bunk beds if you roll over you would fall out  :rotfl:

our son is really thin but is around 5' 11" just now so might have grown more by next year . problem we have is our ds1 needs the accessable room so we have to juggle who gets what room around him. that is the problem we have say going for the 2 bedroom, our son needs the fully accessable room , know 2010 is a bit away but trying to sort it out in my head what to do so I dont waste this years points

Ali as far as I recall reading the bunks are twin bed size. In fact someone here on these boards posted a link to the manufacturer ( I'll try to track down that thread ). Hopefully with THVs opening today you'll get the info you need from first guests :goodvibes

thanks that would be really good of you :)

I understand your son needs the roll-in shower, but does he need accommodations for his bed too? I was hoping that might give you a little more flexibility in the THV.

Bed is ok, we get bed raisers for the bed so we can get the hoist under and take his special mattress, just means he has the whole master to himself  hence trying to sort out who goes where apart from him. its fine when it just us as in immediate family but nightmare when its not.

Sounds like the THV may be alright for you :)

just a thought, we have just received out vacation planner and I can see no shower in the master bath

our son needs the roll-in shower and for the life of me I can't see anything bar a shower over the bath.

That may not be master bath that is shown. iirc, master bath is a shower area and immediately alongside it is tub - unless I'm totally thinking on something else I've seen, you would walk ACROSS the shower area if you want to use the bath tub ( which looks like a tub typically looks - maybe somewhat larger - not sure if it's jacuzzi tub or not ). Reports are beginning to be posted from those presently at THV ( see Mousecellaneous board ) - maybe post this question on one of those threads so they can tell you first hand, I don't think I've seen anyone post on accessible THV as of yet but I'd expect we'll hear soon :goodvibes

thanks Laura,
tbh having second thoughts now after reading about the aircon etc over on the misc board. our son has a spinal injury and spinal injured cant control their body temperature so for the air con to be as bad as they are reporting he wouldn't be able to cope . his body temp goes to the surrounding temp so if it was say off all night he would basically overheat. maybe have to try and see how we can juggle everyone into the 2 bedroom at SSR.

I understand what you're talking about Ali regarding your son's body temperature, my aunt has a spinal injury as well & it can be a real challenge at times to cool her down or warm her up. From what has been posted here on the DIS it seems that Disney is transitioning over to these new AC units at all resorts that do not already have them so it may be possible that being it is a fairly new resort that all SSR villas may also have the same system as THVs. It's been posted there is a way to by-pass the automatic system on AC - someone posted how a member of Disney maintenance told them how to do it & that they advise guests how to do so all the time. Someone also posted that a balloon does the trick because as long as there is motion in room that will keep AC from turning off.

Regarding the roll in shower at THVs, I found this link to some new photos and if I'm not mistaken it shows accessible bathroom & shower; the photo of shower itself is at bit of an angle but maybe it will help you get a better idea.

About extra vehicle parking, there was a post that said it would be at Grandstand area which is closest area to THVs especially if you've got a THV at the southern part of THV area. I also seem to remember a post in past couple weeks of there being an additional parking area within immediate THV area too - I'm not 100% on this but I was sure I'd read this....hopefully someone will be along soon to post more on parking. I'd hope that for those staying in accessible units that there would be ability for more than one vehicle to park ( it would make sense ) - it may be helpful to give Disney a call for more info.

:)

How about a 2 bed at Kidani as get the extra bathroom and sleeper chair?

Claire ;)
