I second this motion!! If you don't leave with your toes tapping from Jersey Boys then you need to take your pulse!! Sadly, I am in a bit of a drought right now. Because of where we live in British Columbia we need to count on Seattle for our Broadway Across America "fixes!" I think the next show we are seeing is American Idiot next JUNE!!! AAAIIIEEE! That is a long time from now. Although... the husband and I am currently in a production of "South Pacific" at our local level. Hubby is Luther Billis... so much fun!!! There ain't nothin' like a dame you know! I am so envious of you New York bound folk!!!!

JERSEY BOYS is my absolute favorite, can't get enough of that show!!!

We are going to NY at the end of September. This is my first time going (I am so excited! ) with my family. My two teenagers are really involved in our school musicals ... one is head of lighting and the other was the beast in Beauty and the Beast last year. (Sorry ... had to brag a little.) Anyway, we have seen musicals come to our city ... but we are very excited to see a couple of Broadway shows when we go.

There are so many experts on these boards, I would love to hear what you would suggest we see. I was thinking of just waiting until the day we plan to see a musical and go to the 1/2 price ticket booth. Would you agree with this? And what musicals would you suggest for a family of all boys (17, 16 and 11). I keep suggesting Spiderman ... but my oldest boys keep saying it didn't get good reviews.

Also, has anyone done the Accomplice New York? This seems like a lot of fun.

DON'T SEE SPIDERMAN!

Seriously, it's dreadful. Yes, the sets are pretty, but the show is basically two hours of listening to Spiderman sing a bad U2 album.

And I'm a huge U2 fan! But I wanted to punch Bono in the face when it was over. You know it's bad when an usher had to start the applause going when the audience stayed dead silent after one of the songs.

Billy Elliot is awesome. It does have a lot of language, but that's not terrible because it's a great story and the dancing is spectacular.

If your boys like Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe is starring in a revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and that show was a lot of fun. Sister Act is supposed to be great fun too.

Just avoid Spiderman at all costs.

Okay... I think I am losing it. After my whining about not getting to Seattle till next June, I just remembered that we are seeing Les Mis this August. Flying out of Seattle to go to Disney World and seeing the show on our way back. Honestly, sometimes I wonder about myself!! I think I am so stressed about getting the Florida part together I have put the show to the back of my mind for now! Any reviews of the restaged Les Mis out there?

Where are you stopping to see Les Mis? I haven't read any reviews from the US tour. I'm not sure how I feel about the restaged version. A nonturning barricade may not be my favorite. But, it's Les Mis, so it can't be anything but marvelous!

It is Seattle at that time. I agree with you about the turning barricade but am more than willing to see what this production holds!!! I have seen it twice in the past and just loved it!!

I'm seeing Sister Act again in September! Taking a day off work to go into the city to see my friend play Sister Mary Robert (the postulant lol). That should be a lot of fun!

And I'm seeing The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown at Goodspeed in CT on Saturday! I've been waiting to see this one for five years, so I'm pretty excited!

Looks like summer is a slow time for theater going - I know it is for me. Thinking about what I want to see in the fall; friends have suggested Follies with Bernadetter Peters and On A Clear Day with Harry Connick.

It has been pretty busy for me.

I started the summer on July 2nd seeing Wicked with my family and sons' gfs. We had a great day in the city.

The rest of the summer has been community theater.

I got to work on some costumes for a local performance of Hairspray. I spent 14 hours working on dresses and I got 2 free tickets. We had a great time. Such a fun show.

A friend designed the sets for a local performance of South Pacific. He did a great job and I loved the show. I had never seen it performed live before. I loved Emile but did not like Nelly. She tried to hard to sound like Reba McEntire. I knew several of the chorus since I had worked with them at the local high school.

The beginning of AUg I went to see a new show called Broadway Jayne. It had its preview down here and then was spending a week on a small off Broadway theatre. A couple of my students were in it and they knew I loved musicals so they invited me to see it. It was a cute show and I could see it being a show jr highs could do with very little problems.

Any reviews of the restaged Les Mis out there?

I saw it in March in Baltimore. It was fabulous. I really didn't think it would work, but it did. I would definitely recommend it. Our new theater season doesn't start until October.

I saw ZARKANA @ Radio City a few weeks ago. What a SPECTACULAR show!! Everybody in the audiance loved it!

It's only playing a couple more months, then it's off to Madrid then Moscow.
