~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

I'd appreciate any good wishes you guys can send my way tomorrow for my dad's cardiac cath-- I get up bright and early to drive him to the hospital at 5:30 am, so I think running is out tomorrow.

Jen, thinking about you and your dad today too.

When you get a chance, please let us know how things went.

Happy belated New Year!!!

Lou~ Did you go to the Mummer's Parade today? Being "Mr. Philly" I thought you might have taken the family over to watch.

No Mummer's Parades for me anymore. I lived right off the parade route (Broad St) from 1995-1999 and had a BIG New Years Party at my apartment every year. It was an awesome time and nice to be able to pop in and out of my warm apartment to see the parade all day. However, South Jersey is not on the parade route and I am long past the age that I can stand outside in the freezing cold and drink beer all day. Disney parades are more my speed now.

Jen - My thoughts and prayers go out to your dad.

Lou

Jen - Thinking of your family, especially your dad, tonight. Hope all went well!:grouphug:

Thank you all for your well wishes and concern. :grouphug: It really helps to know there are people out there who care.

My dad did pretty well. They did find some blocked arteries and put in a stent. He is spending the night at the hospital and hopefully will be able to come home tomorrow. If this works he will feel better and all be worth it. He will not, however be able to make the trip to Disney, so after I knew he would be ok I called a really good friend of ours and asked if she wanted a weekend trip to Disney as our sitter. It will be a more expensive weekend than we planned and my parents are really disappointed, but it will work. Our friend is coming with us and we will all squish into a studio at SSR (in an effort to save money) and make the best of the weekend.

I have to admit this puts a damper on my racing enthusiasm, I feel exhausted without doing any running at all yet. I' hoping once my dad is home and we are in Disney my energy will return and we'll have a good time.

Thanks again.

Jen - Glad your Dad did alright and that you were able to make alternate plans. Definitely not the best case scenario but at least the plans are in place and you can concentrate on getting to WDW and getting your enthusiasm back:thumbsup2 . One day at a time and please try to take it easy and be kind to yourself this week

Jen - I'm glad to hear that your dad is going to be ok and that you were able to make alternate plans. Don't worry about running - the miles you run in the next week don't make much difference for the marathon.

Ran 5 this morning. Feeling very sluggish during my runs. Spending the weekend cleaning my office for the big Inauguration party.

Jen - Good to hear that things went relatively well for your dad. It's also good that you were able to make alternative plans so quickly.

Cindy - All this cleaning? Is the prez-elect himself coming? Sorry about the sluggishness. I'm sure it's a passing phase and all will be great next weekend.

Lou - Past all day drinking in the cold phase? Heck, I'm so dang old that I'm mostly past the standing in the sun waiting for the Disney parade phase.

Hey! to everyone else.

I got my last big run in today. 12.5 easy miles trying to get use to Goofy-marathon race pace.

I'm having a bit of 2-bib buyers remorse at this point. The idea of running the half and sleeping in on Sunday is sounding better and better every day.

See, sometimes I have good ideas! I WILL be sleeping on Sun. a.m. after I run the 1/2 on Sat!:rotfl: Oh stop, you'll do fine...wish I could be there @ mile 25 so you could drag me along @ a 6mm pace again :headache: !

Jen - Good news about your dad, don't sweat the running, you've put in all your time, just relax this week & concentrate on things that need your attention...the marathon will fall into place now, no problem!

Cindy - Did i say welcome home yet? :flower3: Glad to see you back in these parts! Don't worry about the 5 slugs, you'll be fine, you know that. Have you started obsessing over the weather yet?popcorn::

I'm being lazy tonight & will just say "HI" to all my other Bots :grouphug: .

Ran 6 yesterday, 4 today. Both felt really good...and that makes me nervous  .

Thanks again for all of the well wishes. All of you sounds like training is going well. I'm going to try a few miles tonight and hope it breaks me out of this sluggish mode I'm in.

I did get lucky finding a new sitter. Our friend is a huge Disney fan and wonderful with our daughter, so it was the perfect fit. She had no trouble getting a few days off of work and we tried to move quick before all of the airfares went up...

Cindy - All this cleaning? Is the prez-elect himself coming?

The address of my office is 1275 Penn, so right on the parade route. My firm has a big party for clients and they have all these strict rules about "sanitizing" your office of client files. My big problem is that I really haven't cleaned my office since the last inauguration. Seriously. I'm a slob at work.

Um, yeah. Me too.

Cindy - Have you started obsessing over the weather yet?popcorn::

Actually, I haven't. I think its because I feel like I just got home from San Diego, so its hard for me to really believe that I'm leaving for Florida on Thurs. Besides, I have no high hopes for my performance in these races, so I'm not sure I really care that much. I haven't even checked the weather yet. I guess I'll have to do that before I start packing.

Watching the Chargers game tonight. John Madden has been discussing Peyton Manning's hair for the last 20 minutes.

Matt did end up getting me a laptop for Christmas, so now I can sit on the couch and "watch" the game and still check the thread and otherwise entertain myself - its kind of nice.:) I haven't had a laptop in years so I didn't fully appreciated that benefit until I got one.

Hi everyBotty!

I have been MIA because I have nothing to report in the running department or in the XT department either for that matter. :confused3 I am still nursing the PF which makes itself known every morning when I get up and throughout the day.

I have spent most of the past few days "un-decorating" from the holidays so that we don't come home to a house with a Christmas tree, lights outside, etc. on January 18 whrn Cam and I get back from our "Honeymoon". I am going to run my DS around today to shop for some clothes for the trip/school.

I am not stressing too much about the 5K, Half and Marathon at this point. I have someone here that is stressing enough for the both of us. :rolleyes1 I've got it easy.. Cam is handling almost all of the thousands of details for this weekend's activities. I just need to show up on Monday morning in one piece and be able to walk/dance, etc.

Jen~ I am happy that your Dad is doing well after his hospital procedure. Good to know you made alternate plans for WDW in a rush.

Cindy~ Congrats on your new laptoy. I hope you get many years of service out of it.

Mike~ We're looking forward to seeing you, Kathy and the girls soon. Have an uneventful trip to WDW.

I'll be lurking and will try to post a few times over the next few days. Enjoy the taper!

:grouphug:

Hi guys, only a drive-by tonight.

I got 4 miles in yesterday with my old shoes and my heel is feeling better today.:confused3 I can certainly tell they don't have many miles left in them, but the heel pain really seems to be subsiding. They would really bite if my new shoes were lemons.:sad2: I will try out the old shoes again tomorrow and see how I feel.

Hey all!!!

Not much of anything to report on the running front. Got in 4 miles on Saturday morning in the cold and that's it since running 16+ with Howard. I have managed to log 6 days on the Wii Fit. I'll look to get back into the running mode this week but I do want to try to do this Wii Fit thing when I can. I need to strengthen the core muscles and running is obviously not getting that done.

Hey, how bout them Eagles!? We had our first Eagles party of the season yesterday (believe it or not). I remember seasons where we had a party every week. There's kind of a sense of quiet optimism about the Birds right now. It will be a tough game next week at The Meadowlands.

Lou

Hi Everyone: :surfweb: I'm having trouble getting back in the groove at work. Plus, I keep thinking about the upcoming weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again.

How's everyone doing out there? I did 10 long, slow, miles on Saturday. I wasn't feeling the groove at all, and just got through my miles. I'm going to try to do little 2 mile runs this week.

Jen- How is your father doing? How are you doing?

My best to everyone out there...

Lou- If the Steelers can't win the Super Bowl, I'm rooting for the Eagles. I'd like to see Philly get "City of Champions" status. Plus, I really enjoyed watching the Eagles game in the deli next to Pep Boys surrounded by Eagles fans. That was the game against the Ravens when McNabb got benched. It was such a hoot to listen to the Eagles fans around me yelling.

Dave - I hear you. I'm having a tough time getting back to the grind and I don't have a marathon looming this weekend. Good luck to you and all of the other Bot runners headed to WDW!

I feel the same way about the Steelers. They have always been my #2 team since the days of the Steel Curtain and Mean Joe Green. It's the old...the enemy of my enemy (Dallas) is my friend premise. There was nothing better than watching Dallas lose to the Steelers in the 70's.

You got to witness the low-point of the Eagles season first hand and the wrath of their angry fans. Remember, we ran Charles Barkley out of town and booed Mike Schmidt for years.

Being a Steeler fan, I could sit back and enjoy the Eagle fans venting their wrath at McNabb. I have to say Steeler fans are pretty hard on their QBs too. In the period between Bradshaw and Roethlisberger many a QB had been run out of town. Snow balls thrown at Cliff Stoudt when he came back with the USFL. Lot's of nastiness spewed at Kordell Stewart too.

Oooh, oooh! What kind? I'm getting ready to buy one myself!

It’s a Dell. It’s bigger than I would have picked for myself, but I do like it (and since it is my main home computer, I guess it really does make sense to sacrifice having a tiny computer for having a computer with more memory, bigger screen, better battery life, etc.)

Howard – I’m sorry that the PF is still bothering you.

Colleen – I hope your heel continues to feel better.

Lou – I’m rooting for the Eagles with you! I really want them to beat the Giants.

Dave – I definitely hear you on the getting back into the groove. It’s almost like, why bother at this point?

Ran 10 yesterday. Was planning on doing 12, but the 10 were so horrible that I cut it short. My knees have been killing me lately and I feel like running a 10:30 min/mile is taking as much energy as if I were sprinting. On the positive side, I don’t expect a PR from either race, so I’m really not that concerned, I just hope the full isn’t too miserable. I had previously had a goal of finishing the Goofy in under 7 hours, not really sure if that is possible . . .

Matt, on the other hand, has declared that he is not running the full because of lack of training. I, being a loving wife, am trying to guilt/shame him into doing it.

I can’t believe I am leaving in 3 days!! Anyone else going to the expo on Thursday?

Forgot to mention - I had a Goofy dream last night. Except in my dream, the Goofy was: run the half, take a break for a few minutes and then run the full. In my dream I was sitting in between the two races, saying that I was too tired to run the full. Very happy to wake up and remember that the races are on different days!
