~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hey Everyone: I finally got out there around 1:00p. It rained on me the first 2 miles. It was the first time I ever left for a run in the rain. I did 9.22 miles in 1:34 min. Nothing too inspiring at all - my feet were pretty soaking wet and I just wanted to get done.

Hi everyone! I have been busy with house guests visiting since early Saturday. I managed to meet Lou this morning near Boathouse Row in Philadelphia for 16.53 miles (10:35 pace). I had some issues with the PF :headache: which slowed us down a few of the miles along with overall fatigue. Lou hung with me and I really enjoyed running without an iPod and being to catch up and learn more about him and his family. I have hardly ever run with a partner, today's run makes me want to have someone to run with in the future.

Lou~ THANK YOU!!! I appreciate your time today and for hanging in there with me.

Thanks to Dave, Colleen, Sara, etc. for the kind words about my advancement at the Blood Bank of Delmarva. I am honored, humbled and ready to continue to do my best there going forward.

After the Disney runs I am going to take some time off from running and allow my PF to heal. I will continue to try to drop some weight, cross-train and do some lifting. I think my first longish run will be the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon in Wilmington, DE in March. I think Lou might join me... any other takers? Mike?

I wish you all a great week and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I am excited to be seeing all (or most of you) soon in WDW.

:grouphug:

I might be interested in that half Howard. I could come down and see my Dad, and then run the race. Let me check the dates.

Hey everyone!! -- Glad you are enjoying your holiday.

Howard - I enjoyed the run as well. That was my first run with a partner and I also liked not having an iPod. I was pretty sore last night and I'm even more sore this morning. I haven't run longer than 7 miles since the marathon so yesterday was a much needed. We could not have caught a better day with 60-degree weather in January.

Howard and Cam - Enjoy your trip! It sounds like you have an amazing time lined up with the races, vow renewal, and honeymoon!

Sara - Sorry about the virus. I hope you are feeling better. :wizard: Why does it seem like everyone gets sick around the holidays?

Jen - Nice job on the 20 miles! :woohoo: You're ready for WDW now.

One of the cool things about the run was all of the WDW trainers we ran into. The normally crowded Schuylkill River loop was pretty quiet yesterday except for people wearing WDW marathon shirts or Team-in-Training shirts. It's amazing how many people run WDW and so many from the area.

Caesar Rodney is on the schedule for me again in 2009. It was a very challenging course and I loved the post-race spread (pizza, Starbucks, and PIZZA).

What happened to my Eagles? The stars must be totally lined up this year. They play inconsistent all year but sneak into the playoffs. No matter what happens next week they smoked Dallas on national TV and we got to see T.O. sulk all day.

Lou

Question of the day - how can more come out than goes in:confused3 ?

I haven't really eaten since Christmas day yet have had no problem producing frequent expulsions:mad: UGH:scared1: If I needed to drop some weight I might see a silver lining here but I am more concerned about a reserve required to complete 26.2 miles in less than two weeks and not looking to be additionally depleted in anyway:scared: . I still have no appetite to speak of but did manage to get a small bowl of oatmeal in this morning so I'll consider it a victory on my road to recovery:yay:

Lou - You know I was thinking of you when your Eagles were smearing DH's Cowboys all over the field last night:laughing: . Talk about embarrassing:rolleyes1 DH was telling the girls he was going to burn their TO and Romo jerseys after the game:rotfl: :rotfl2: Way too cool about the run with Howard and the TNT trainers:thumbsup2

Howard - I do remember Lou's race report from the Caesar Rodney indicating it was a great race to run:cheer2: Like the gameplan of taking a bit of time to recover before jumping into hardcore training again:hug:

Dave - Congrats on getting in the miles:banana: . Last night when DD7 and I were praying for WISH'ers, DD says "Dave for the fall off the roof:laughing: ." She obviously still remembers your infamous light hanging fiasco:hug:

Jen - I hope you and Butch have a blast at the 5k:yay: I'm afraid to ask how long the virus ailed you because I don't want to accept anything longer than the number of days I've had it already:rolleyes: . Running is the furthest thing from my mind right now - not fainting at work is more like it:scared:

Colleen - How did Jeff's 20 miles gopopcorn:: ? How come I'm the only one who's never met him beforepopcorn:: ?

Jodi - Are you out there somewhere:rolleyes1 Did you say you were off to MV for the holidays:snooty: ?

Definitely no running for me until I consume enough to support the mileage:drinking1 Hopefully that means tomorrow I'll be able to run on the TM in the a.m.:yay:

Have a wonderful week:grouphug:

Uh, I've got a lot to catch up on...I've missed my BOTs :grouphug: . I've been lurking, just not posting, as my DS has bogarted the computer big-time with a new game & animation stuff!

Here we go....

Lou - Bruce & I were thinking about you yesterday during the Eagles romp over the Cowboys!!! We were LOVIN' it  . We hate the Cowboys & we now find ourselves hoping that the Eagles make it to the Superbowl! How great would THAT be? Sorry you're a bit sore from your run yesterday, but it sounds like you had a great time with Howard! If you ran with me, you definitely would have wanted to bring your ipod :rotfl:!

Howard - Welcome back to you & Cam, I'm glad you had such a swell time! And a BIG congratulations on the job promotion. How great that you get to do a job that you love! And for such a worthy cause, Good For YOU! I'm in agreement that you should definitely give the PF a break after Disney, eh? Tell Cam I said "hi" !

Sara - I'm sure the virus has left your household, but sorry you all got a little pukey. How's the puppy? Any LRs? When ru showing up @ Disney? Did the girlies get everything they wanted?

Mike - Nice job on that 20 mile run, you're insane:sad2: ...but we knew that. Did Kathy get everything she wanted for Christmas or are you still sharing the same address?:rolleyes1 Seriously, though, I hope she & the girls had a great holiday...and you too, I guess. What's up with all the party hosting @ your house & how come I wasn't invited?

Colleen - Hey Canada. So you're showing up on Sat. a.m. for the marathon? You're doing a flip-flop of what I do...showing up @ the last minute rather than leaving ASAP! Any LRs? How's the heel? Bruce's quads will be staying in CT this time around, but if you show up @ the RTB relay I'll make sure he wears short-shorts :lmao: .

Dave - How 'bout your girlies? Happy Christmas? Has the snow melted up there yet? It was 60 here yesterday :confused3 . What else is doin'? Ru you going to Disney? Nice job on getting out on that run in the rain :sad2: .

Steve - OK, I'll believe you'll be here on the boards more often in the coming months popcorn:: :rolleyes1

Cindy - When ru you coming home?:sad1:

Jen - Nice job on that 20 :scared1: Disney's right around the corner!

Me? Great Christmas! Lots of visiting & driving around :headache: . Ran Christmas day 3 miles (found $5 in a puddle - thanks Santa), ran 8 miles on Sat. Will run today - I think I ran somewhere else in there, too.

Listened to my i-pod for a bit & got in trouble, though. I bought the Cloud an i-pod for Christmas & he's obsessed with the thing, but I "borrowed" his "favorite" headphones for running when i went for my LR on Sat. & boy was he PISSED  . He wanted to use his new i-pod on his run & waited around for me for 45 mins. to get back, ranted, then left without taking the headphones & i-pod with him :confused3 . I need a guy out there to explain this to me...you wait 45 mins. just to YELL @ me? You don't take the headphones after waiting all that time?? I don't get it. And it's not like we didn't have tons of other headphones around the house...apparently he doesn't like the headphones that came with it b/c the cord's too long :sad2: . What a tool!:rotfl2:

Sara - I too have pondered that question during a battle with a stomach virus. On the flip side, it always feels good to jump on a scale after it's over.

I was thinking of your DH (and other Cowboy's fans) during and after the game. Fox did a great job showing all of the Dallas players, coaches, and owners during the game as they wallowed in the misery. Hopefully we'll get more than a week to celebrate this.

Did anyone see when Eagles owner Jeffery Laurie high fived his wife in the face? Just another great highlight...

:lmao: :rotfl2: I DID see that, but thought I was just "seeing" things. That's awesome!

Hey Everyone: OK, people keep asking, and I wanted to clear up the confusion. Yes, I'm coming down to WDW for marathon weekend. :thumbsup2
It was a last minute decision I made before Christmas. I had so much fun coming down for Mousefest Dec 12-14, that I wanted to come down again.

So I'm going to run the half marathon - if Cam still has a bib available.

I haven't finalized all my travel plans yet, but I do have an airline ticket to come down. I'm flying in on Friday, Jan 9th and leaving on Sunday, Jan 11th.

What's everyone's plans for meeting up?

  :cool1:

Jodi, good to see you around these parts again! Congrats on finding the $5 from Santa...and I thought we were in a depression.

Oh goodness Sara, I didn't know you were THAT sick!! You have no weight to lose so you must be a rail now. Careful on your next run and start rebuilding, we have 26.22 miles in about 13 days!:thumbsup2 As for Jeff's 20 miles, they went pretty well. He is hoping for a nice result at Disney which will greatly depend on the weather conditions.

Lou and Howard, sounds like you two had a nice training run that you could just crank out 16 miles. Lou, there are a few people on the WISH board giving away their Goofy entries...popcorn::

Off to do 5 miles... hope the heel will behave. The guy at Fleetfeet gave me some new insoles to try.

Lou, there are a few people on the WISH board giving away their Goofy entries...popcorn::
Colleen- Can you point me in the direction of those Goofy entries? I need to do this trip on the super-duper cheap, and if I can get a free entry I'd take it.

Dave -- Howard sent me your post about coming to WDW weekend. I am glad we may see you there. I am working on the bib issue -- gathering the paperwork, signed waivers, copies of drivers' licenses, etc. Let me know if you decide to pursue another option so that I don't put anyone to any trouble.

Sorry I haven't been around. Swamped and overwhelmed but really excited about seeing everyone in about 11 days. YAY!!!

Hi cam

I'm sending this from my iphone so forgive my typing

I really appreciate all your effort for the bib
Yes I will gladly use your uncles bib
Let me know what I owe you
Should I send you a check now

Also let me know if it's too much trouble to get the bib
I know you and howard have so much going on now

Dave -- If you can get one for free, I'd MUCH rather you seized that opportunity. I am going to continue with my efforts to get everything from my aunt and uncle so that if all else fails, I can at least pick up their race bags, if no one uses their bibs and is entitled to the race bag that goes with it. :goodvibes Just let me know if you can secure a free one, and I will continue in my efforts. I feel bad that three of our friends/family registered for the 1/2 and can't run it. Think of all those unclaimed race bags that DES doesnt' do anything about getting to the people who "paid" for them. :sad1:

Colleen - Thanks for the heads up. However, unless they are giving away free airline tix and rooms I am out for 2009. Disney got enough of my money in 2008 although I would love to go to hang out with everyone. Very good chance I will sign up for Goofy 2010 as soon as they open up registration.

 Leaving work at noon due to a lack of food leading to zero mental capacity:confused3 ? I have an appointment to donate blood at 5:00 today but I'm guessing Howard's going to tell me that's a no go:laughing:

On a more positive note:goodvibes I am currently networking a strategy for the marathon and planning to hook up with some fine WISH walkers for a fun-filled stroll on 1/11:yay: Let's face it, zero training, newborn puppy in the house limiting continuous sleep to zilch, infectious virus hanging on tightly doesn't make for promising odds for anything other than having a great time covering the distance so that's what I'm down with for the day:banana: . I think I'm dropping back to corral G from the start and making new friends:cloud9:

Cam - I'm keeping up with you over on the vow renewal journal:hug: Please try not to get overwhelmed with the last minute stuff and take confidence in all of your prep work:) I need to be mindful of catching up with you before you head down to MCO:thumbsup2

Colleen - :rotfl: :lmao: Rail:confused3 , I think not:laughing: I do know I can't attempt running until this thing is past me so one day at a time for now:confused: . Glad Jeff's feeling good about WDW:banana:

In case I don't get a chance to post again, I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year's celebration:grouphug:

I just got a good price on a rental car from Avis for marathon weekend. $49 for a compact car in January.

"Please use AWD X185000 to take advantage of this offer"

Hey Bots!

Dave - Nice snag on that rental car, i may check that out. Also, I wanted to speak to your post about the movie "It's A Wonderful Life". That is also my favorite Christmas movie, a yearly tradition. Spencer watched it for the first time last year & LOVES it as well! Such a cool story to be able to watch with your kids. Also, "IT" :clown: is a great book isn't "it"? I may have to take that along on our cruise in Feb. & give it another read!

Colleen - Did you get that 5 in? As for the 1/2, it'll be me, my mom, my brother & my niece participating. My 21 y/o niece is completely ill-prepared, my 51 y/o brother is prepared, has been training, but nervous & wants to do it under 2 hours :confused3 . And my mom's worried she won't finish in time. She did it in '06 with me, but the other 2 are newbies. Me? whatever. :lmao:

Howard & Cam - Getting ready for the big day? :cloud9: :yay: I wISH I could stick around for Monday.:sad1:

Sara - Dehydrated??? Drink your BOT WATER!!! It'll fix you right up, guaranteed! Hope you feel better  .

Ran 5 yesterday & 3 today. Neither felt great, my legs were beat :confused3 oh well!
