The Black Parade

Pfft that's nothing. MCR only has ONE CD that's gone platinum. You may say, "oh well they only have released like 3 CDs" or whatever the ammount is. Well that's no excuse. Pretty much EVERY piece of music Creed released in their time as a band went Multi-platinum. Many, MANY bands have released CDs that have gone platinum so many times over it's just nuts. (See Back in Black and IV)

Don't tell me A LOT of people like MCR like they're the hottest thing ever until they're selling so many CDs that it's just stupid.

Also, just to drive home my point on only selling like 2 million cd's by their third release, lets just take a look at my favorite band. Motley Crue

By the end 1985, (when Theatre of Pain, their third relase, was released), Motley Crue's Too Fast for Love had gone gold, AKA, 500,000 sales. Shout at the Devil had gone platinum twice, aka, 2,000,000 sales, and Theatre of Pain had gone platinum twice as well. So in total, by Motley Crue's third release, and by the end of 1985, they had sold 4,500,000 CDs. Roughly.

Can I add that Motley Crue has been around for over 20 years and that MCR has only been around for like 4 years, so of course they will have more albums sold..
MCR is not that famous, most people I ask in my school if they know who they are they don't. 2 million albums may not seem a lot but it is. And finanlly I'd like to say this thread was for people that bought the album or are thinking of it, of course I am not saying that you can't come here and share your opinion on them I really don't mind, I just think it's kinda rude coming here and saying 'I wish they'd go away.'

Re-read what I said. I said by 1985 when they released their third album, not ever sense they started until now. If I said that, the figures would be higher.

Also, you contradicted yourself with the last statement. You said that I can come in here and share my opinion. I did that. You then said me sharing my opinion was rude. Well, if there is a polite way of saying it tell me.

Also, two million albums, if you know anything how the recording industry works, really isn't that much. Your not rolling in cash if you sell two million, at least from record sales.

Munky.....I didn't post here to mouth off about the merits of one band over another. There's plenty of room for all music tastes surely?...... unlike you not all of us claim to " know how the recording industry works"

I only said 2m shows MCR are pretty popular...who mentioned money except you?..and what has that got to do with anything..it's about the music...not the cash.

I never claimed MCR were the hottest thing around...so don't attribute your prejudices to me please.....and the only person looking stupid is the one who made that comment when no-one even mentioned the subject...whoops excuse me! That was you Munky......

It's a teen board.....perhaps you can come back in a couple of years when you're old enough??? since most people I know gave up on talking and sneering with comments like " Pfft" when they were about 10 or so.

So. while you're certainly entitled to your opinion...please don't lower the thread to your level........please go start a thread on " your favorite band"...if you love 'em so much.

I'm not saying one band is better than the others. I'm just saying, saying two million in sales by the third album isn't something to be swinging around saying how they're so popular and whatnot.

I only said 2m shows MCR are pretty popular...who mentioned money except you?..and what has that got to do with anything..it's about the music...not the cash.
2 million says nothing. Any band that gets on a major label can sell two million by their third album. Hinder will probably have sold two million by their third. 2 million is nothing to brag about. So now why did I mention money?

Because money helps show success. Wether you like it or not, that's the truth. You can't call yourself successful if your living in a box. Now, if you sell a gold record, and after you pay off persons A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, you end up with a certain ammount that you get. Usually around 19-20,000 dollars. Times that by four, and you've made roughly $80,000 from record sales. Divide that by four for each memeber of the band, and well, you get my point. Unless your going like multi-multi-multi-platinum, your not making a whole lot from record sales. Thats all I was saying. 2 million in sales really isn't a good way to judge how successful a band has been.

I never said you did. I also appriciate your ill-used insult. Very creative.

I'm 16. Of course you wouldn't know anything about that seeing as how you just assumed I was 10.

So. while you're certainly entitled to your opinion...please don't lower the thread to your level........please go start a thread on " your favorite band"...if you love 'em so much.
I was never making this thread into a "my favorite band is better than your favorite band" sort of thread. I was simply using Motley Crue as an example. Actually, your probably lucky that I did. Had I used...say...Creed, well, the numbers would have been more lop-sided. I'm entitled to my opinion, and I've stated it. You have a problem with my opinion? Well feel free to PM me about it.

Also just out of curiosity, mike, are you posting on your own account, or on a family members?

You're talking about someone lowering threads to their level, when we're all dragging ourselves down to get on yours.

You're being out right mean.

:) Start with a smile...always best!

On reflection I was a bit too smart with my mouth and this whole thing is getting silly.......so if an apology is due please accept this as my apology to you.

I have no problems at all withy anyone's tastes in music.......I'm not a huge fan of Motley Crue but can see why peeps like them. I'm not in any way trying to say this group is better than that...... what I DO like about MCR ( having watched an interview with them last Saturday ) is they seem like ordinary kids who got together to do something they enjoy......and don't seem too hassled about the money side ...although no doubt money follows if they do it right.. :)

To be honest I only posted on the thread to see if anyone could let me know what if anything there is to do in the Orlando area.

Me and my sister ( j-pop fan) are visiting in January 2007 and don't want to spend every night stuck on msn talking to friends back home popcorn:: :surfweb:

So.........mucho sorry for being too fast with my mouth.and at the moment I'm using my parent's account ...we're having problems getting one for me and my sister

Let's get back on topic becuase this is gonna get into a fight and be closed..

I think MCR is doing a good job, they're a great band I hope thy keep on making albums. =]

MCR is just not a concept album band...so I really dislike the new album. They aren't able to pull the concept off well. Three Cheers (don't feel like typing it out) was loosely a concept album, but this is outright one. Blah.

And the British dude that's arguing...the Dead Kennedys are awesome.
