Hello,
I have been so wrapped up in the Universal Studios Message Boards, I finally park hopped over to here. Get it. Eh whatever :). Anywho, got back from big MGM yesterday and I am still insane over WWTBAM. I go up very often and each time I go there, I see every showing up to 5:00 averaging around 7 games. What's not to love, AC, sit, Restrooms as you walk out, Popcorn stand (even though it is rarely open), get an education, and you can win prizes. Shoot I can't ask for anything else. I got on yesterday as well as my mom, and these were our second times on. Pretty cool. I haven't been on since March! Since you have to wait 30 days till your next time, that kinda stinks, but I completely agree with Disney's thoughts on doing that. Don't be fooled by that Florida gaming law crap. They did that because visitors a.k.a. locals would camp out and keep playing. Hey that game is so highly addictive, I don't blame them. I have learned so much on that show. Of the 2 times I have been on (keeping in mind I am 17) I have gotten up to the same level, 125,000. For some reason I can't break that. I would like to know how far others have gotten. My two stumpers were first: Where was the saxophone PATENTED. Are you kidding me, how would I know and why should I care. God that is a hard question. Is it a.) France, b.) Switzerland, c.) Germany, or d.) England. Second one, What Anthony Hopkins movie did Julianne Moore Co-star in BESIDES Hannibal. I used 50/50 so is it Instinct or Surviving Picasso. Don't cheat by searching, try for yourself.

Finally in this thread, I curious if anyone knows any good tips for that attraction. I this any type of system or way to look at those questions and narrow them down. Does Disney have a little secret to figuring them out. Let me know, thanks

I love the phone a total stranger.I don't think there's any way to know the answers but I always think it's best to go with your first instinct.I've never made it to the chair only to number 2.

LOL I went with my first instinct which was instinct and then the answer was Surviving Picasso

What kind of prizes do you win on WWTBAM?

I hope to play the game next week while we are down. We ran out of time last year and I didn't get to. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get in the hot seat.

No tips or strategies but last year I missed on the second to the last question (forgot what dollar level that is) with "What are the names of the crash test dummies? Would've gotten it if I went with my gut but I overanalyzed it. The correct answer is Vince and Larry.

I won a lanyard, a bunch of pins with each level obtained, a ball cap and a really nice short sleeved polo shirt.

Dogg2727, I had to laugh at your saxophone question. I know where it was INVENTED (Belgium by Adolphe Sax) and but not patented and would've been bummed out if I was that close to knowing. On your second question I wouldn't have had a clue even though we watch tons of movies.

Will try again this December!

I here you, see I knew about adolph sax because I use to play the sax and so did my grandpa (may he rest in peace). he tought me that. But come on, patent, geese. My other question was at least normal. Grant it that I am not good with remembering actors and actresses and what movies they played in, that is normal. Even though it was a movie no one heard about. I would love to hear from others about how they did. What was the million point question.

I've been in the hot seat twice so far. I got to the $125,000 question in October 2002 and walked away. The question was something about who invented some form-fitting plastic chairs or something like that. In May I missed I think the $8000 question. The audience didn't know it either. I forgot to use the phone-a-complete-stranger lifeline. The question was something about yellow journalism.

I've got the shirt, hat, pins from October. In May I gave some of my pins away to some really cute kids from Wales on a Disney bus. It turned out their dad worked for the law firm in Britain that had something to do with the big Millionaire show lawsuit in England.

I've decided I'll never walk away again. I already have the shirt, hat, and pins up to $64,000, so to me it seems worth hazarding a guess even if I don't know the answer. I'd love a Disney cruise and would gladly give up some pins for a chance at that.

Yeah u know it is so hard to know which way to go. Like I am at 125,000, I want to stop so I can get those special pins, but I just have to go hoping that I will get the cruise. I want to win so bad plus I would absoutely love that jacket. I am sure you have noticed this, but people sarcastically laugh and smile about the prizes, but I think they are pretty dang good. The pins are rare and worth a lot, the shirt is beautiful and good quality, and the hat is more colorful than I expected. If you go in the fast pass area, you can see the display of all the prizes, that jacket is to die for. When I was there two days ago, I was so cold after having the air vent on me the whole game, I literally played my *** off to get in the hot seat lol. Then I went for the mill trying for the warm jacket lol. Hey I say go for it, there isn't that much riding on it and you only have that 20 minutes of fame. Then you are banned for 30 days. FYI, win the mill and you are banned for a year.

My personal cost benefit analysis is that it makes no sense to walk away. The only thing that you are giving up are some pins and the reward is a chance for the cruise and the bomber jacket. The pins are mostly worthless and the couple of extra pins above the 32,000 point level may be more valuable than some pins but they do not compare to the cruise and the other prizes.

I know one pin collector (a lady) who walked away at the 250,000 level and was happy with her two extra pins. To me, this was a bad deicsion in that at worst you have a one chance in four on any question.

I was in the hot seat a couple of weeks ago, my first time! :teeth:
I got eliminated at the 16,000 question which really isn't too bad considering that it's the 9th question out of 15. My downfall was "What is Dr. Phil's last name?" The answer is McGraw. I should have polled the audience but got nervous & did 50/50 which helped me not at all because I still had NO CLUE! At that point I didn't want to waste another lifeline, so I guessed WRONG! Just plain BAD strategy. :(
It's OK, I'll do better next time.

I never made it to the hot seat. Maybe next time.
