In your opinion, what is the best water park for pre-schoolers? I was reading my Passporter and Blizzard Beach seemed the place to be. We are going at the beginning of October with two 6 year olds and a 4 year old.

Do you have to get to the water park at opening to get a seat in the kiddie area or can you show up around lunch time and find a spot?

What do you bring with you other than towels, water sandles, sun screen and maybe a couple water toys?? Do they allow small coolers?

Is there any shade for Grandparents?? Is the water park even worth it for little kids??

Thanks for sharing your experiences!!!:Pinkbounc

We just got back from our first trip to WDW...my granddaughter just turned 7.
As far as the best water park for kids, I would recommend Typhoon Lagoon...it had small children's slide, and even a very small tube slide in the children's area, and you can even walk along side them as they go down it. The other part of the kids area had lots of fun stuff to do, and the water was not deep (probably ankle high at most). and yes, there is a little "cave-like" area there too, which I saw MANY parents, grandparents, and small kids in stollers taking advantage of, and they still had a good view of the children who were busy playing in the water.

As far as what we brought, just your normal water park supplies, definately bring sunscreen, we brought towels, goggles, water shoes, etc. and my granddaughter's small rolling carry-on luggage filled with snacks.

Hope this helps....

Sincerely...Kat

We took our 4 and 2-year olds to Blizzard Beach last September and they absolutely loved it. We got there a while after opening, but the crowds weren't bad at all. We set up under a small pavillion in an area specifically for kids, with lots of smaller pools and shorter slides. We all enjoyed staying around there since there was so much to do. We did, however, take a family ride on a big "inner tube" down the "alpine slide" (can't remember the name of the ride). We had a blast. While DW and DD (2) splashed around the smaller pools, DS (4) and I floated leisurely around the river on an inner tube. DS got a kick out of the freezing water dripping down off one of the cave entrances. I also carried him around the big wave pool until it came up to my cheast level. He loved that, especially when we "jumped" the waves.
We didn't bring anymore than sunscreen, towels, flip-flops, small snacks, and maybe a T-shirt or two. We kept that stuff in one of the small lockers by the entrance. The whole morning was wonderful, and I would definitely recommend it.
Oh yeah, there's enough to keep adults entertained too.

I'm glad to know that there will be enough to do. If all the kids can swim are there some bigger things to do. The two 6 yr olds are 47 inches high??

Thanks!

About how long do you stay at the waterparks with young ones?

The kids swim pretty well and I think the older two age 6 will be able to do some slides.

I am thinking 3-4 hours. Does that sound about right??

Thanks!

We've been to both TL and BB. For younger kids I recommend TL. BB is good too, but I think the water rides are geared more to older kids. We always get to the parks, including water parks, when they open. Yes, there are places to sit in the shade, but getting there at opening, gives you the best chance of getting the best spots.
We always buy food at the snack bar and just bring drinks with us, but we saw others who brought in food. I would also recommend wearing water shoes (in some areas they are called aqua socks) as the cement can get mighty hot.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the 6 year olds will be able to do too many of the slides at either park.
I think most of the slides had the same height requirement as MGM, MK. etc... 48 inches.
They COULD probably do the family raft rides, but again, not really sure on that either.

Hands down, I recommend Blizzard Beach for the little ones. The kids area is much bigger with much more to do than the one at TL. We arrived there mid-morning and had no problem getting seats- not that we really needed them!! I didn't like TL for young children because I found the walkways in the kids area to be really slippery- DS kept falling and hurting himself. Also, at the time we were there, the lifeguards didn't do a really good job keeping bigger kids out of the area.

Are there shaded areas at BB? If so, where are they??

We are going to be there with grandparents and just want to be prepared. If there are not a lot of shaded areas, I want to get there at opening so that they have a spot in the shade.

How long did you stay at BB? I'm thinking 3-4 hours. Is that enough time for a 4 yr old and two 5 yr olds??

Thanks for the help!:bounce:
