The Best Place to Get Down on One Knee?

Hey--I'm brand new to the site, but I've been reading posts for about a week now, and I think I've found the place where all my fellow Disney Freaks hang out!!

So, my question to all you fellow Disney-holics: Where in all WDW would be the best place for me to propose to my GF??

The background: We've been together for almost three years now, and the anniversery of our first date is July 20th. I booked a vacation to WDW for our "summer vacation" and I am planning on doing it as soon as we get there. (since I probably won't be able to hide the ring for much longer than that.) Our plane gets into Orlando at 10am, so with Disney's new Magical Express, we should be on-site by lunchtime.

I was thinking about going to MK right away and doing it in front of the Castle? Maybe I could even flag down one of the CM's that walk around taking pictures??

Any thoughts??

cinderella's castle seems to be the #1 spot for proposals, there's another couple on the dis who has a photo of him (by a cm) proposing on main street with cindy's castle in the background. cinderella's garden & wishing well are also popular spots for a romantic proposal. another suggestion would be on the grand floridian beach in a hammock during the mk fireworks or on a specialty firework cruise or at your favorite country during a meal or illuminations at epcot or on a carriage ride at pofq or ft wilderness. do you two have a special spot at wdw? i'm sure no matter where you pop the question it will be magical & memorable. definetly try to get a photo of the moment or post moment. my fi did this when he proposed on christmas eve he set the camera to take our photo & told me to open my eyes just as the light went off, its one of my favorite pictures its sincerely sweet

My fiance proposed on our first full day there by Cinderella's castle during the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. I would definately recommend this! Even though there were tons of other people around, we felt like the fireworks were just for us! He proposed right as the first fireworks were going off, so we got to spend our first five minutes of being engaged by watching the beautiful show. However, I also like twojo21's idea of the hammock while watching the fireworks. It would be a little more intimate, but you have to make sure you can find an available hammock. Either way, I'm sure she will love it!

my brother just proposed to his girlfriend while at WDW last week! the original plan was to start the evening off at Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner and then they were going to do a carriage ride at POFQ. they changed their plans around a bit and skipped the CRT dinner (did it later in the week to celebrate mom and dad's wedding anniversary instead) but they still did the carriage ride. my brother said it was AWESOME! he didn't go all elaborate or anything...just plain and simple asked her to marry him during the ride. he did take the ring and attached it to a little crystal sculpture that had something to do with soulmates or something. he used ribbons to attach it and presented it to her.

How about during dinner at CRT as the fireworks show starts? When you make your PS/ADR let them in on the plan and remind them when you get there. Maybe you can order the Cinderella slipper dessert and they can write in chocolate on the plate "will you marry me?"
Otherwise, in front of the castle during fireworks would be beautiful.
You can arrange a private dinner through the Grand Floridian catering on the beach during fireworks for just the two of you, and propose during the fireworks. Slip her a note that morning inviting her to share a romantic dinner with you so that she can wear something special. Your waiter shouldn't mind snapping a few photos if you let him in on it in advance.
(Yes, I love fireworks.)
Be sure and have a pair of minnie veil ears for her once she says yes!!

This is exciting! I have no ideas about the actual place where you should propose, but I highly support your idea of doing it as early as possible in the vacation (like on the first day, rather than waiting until the last day or something like that). That way you both can enjoy the glow of being newly engaged throughout your great vacation! Have fun.

What best fits your gf's personality? Does she like the fairytale princess "thing?" If so, I really like the idea of having CRT write "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" on one of the desert plates (in whatever topping she prefers...chocolate, strawberry, raspberry...) as was mentioned earlier. Of course, any restaurant will probably do that for you if there's one that you feel she'd like better.

Maybe the carriage ride is more her style. Or maybe EPCOT is with all of the beautiful flowers and decorations.

I don't know where you guys are staying while at WDW, but we took an Illuminations Cruise from BWI boat dock after our wedding ceremony and really liked it. It might be neat to book the cruise and then while the boat is anchored waiting for the Illuminations show to start (they take you site-seeing around the canals first), you could propose. I think that they also have dinner cruises you could book, as well, that end with you watching Illuminations. They knew that we had just been married and added a nice touch of having a rose and some balloons on the boat for us as a surprise, so I'm sure that you could work out all of the details before hand with them and they could make sure it is really special. They might even be willing to have something on board that says "'WILL YOU MARRY ME?" on it that they could pull out at just the right time!

But I have a feeling that she's going to be so excited by the engagement itself that the location will pale in comparison.

My fiance first told me he loves me right in front of the castle. When he proposed we were on the beach near the Wedding Pavilion. They were Both perfect. There is basically no way to screw up a Disney proposal!! Good luck! I know she'll love it.

Unfortunately, I can't really use the more extravagant options becuase we are both straight out of college and living on a tight buget. So I guess that means no cruises or CRT dinners.

That, and the fact that I will be extremely on-edge until I 'pop' the question (I'm getting nervous now just thinking about it) means I will want to do it as soon as we get there (around lunchtime).

I like the suggestion of doing it somewhere at Epcot with all the beautiful landscaping, but my GF is into the whole princess thing (she can't wait to see "Cinderellabration"), so I think I'm still leaning toward a castle proposal.

I just hope I can time it right so there isn't a show/parade going on at the time!!

My DH proposed on one of my favorite rides. It was really sweet, totally memorable and didn't cost a penny (well, other than park tickets, but we would have paid for them anyway )

That would be perfect then...and you would be able to get it done sooner rather than later.

Maybe you could get a park map (from the resort at check-in or something) and tape a note of some sort inside of it saying "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" and when you're at the castle have her look at the map telling her you want her to find the best way to get to "Future World" or something like that...if you like the extra "surprise" element (and think she will).

Or, you could simply just drop down on a knee right there, profess your love, and then ask her THE question. It's simple and romantic.

It would be good if you could somehow get a CM that's taking pictures to covertly follow you guys to the location so that they could capture the moment, but either way, I'm sure neither of you will ever forget the special moment.
