What has been the most significant lifestyle change you've made since joining WISH?

I've noticed, for me, it's no fast food. I don't ever get hungry for it. I have taken to keeping a snack with me in case I get the shakes form being away from home for too long. I'm hoping that eating out, period, (unless for a special occasion) will soon follow.

What have you found out about some of your old bad habits? Are any of them gone for good?

Keep the Faith!

Mine is exercise....
While my eating has changed a lot in terms of not going out all the time and portion sizes....I did NOT exercise before. I found it boring! LOL! :)
Now I try to do 5 days a week....it really makes a difference!
I just hope that once I reach goal, my WISH friends will help me stick to exercising! I know it is the main part of a healthy lifestyle for me so I must learn to stick to it!

The most significant lifestyle changes for me is caring about myself, getting active and making healthy choices. It amazes me sometimes the things I do now as opposed to what I would have done four months ago. I have educated myself about health and fitness and I have incorporated a lot of what I have learned into my daily routine.

I hear you about the fast food. DS and I were at the mall today and he wanted McDonald's for supper, I was happy to buy him his happy meal, but I waited to eat until I got home because I had no desire to eat any of the choices available. Four months ago I would have just ordered my meal and eaten it without a second thought.

i feel alive and invograted from my walking.

Isn't exercise great? Your pictures are very telling in the way you have been approaching your new lifestyle. Keep up the good work. I would hate to think that you would leave us when you've reached goal. We will need successes, and we will help keep you on track, because staying healthy is more than what the scale says.

Tiggerlover,
Isn't it amazing how we have become aware of health as a real and attainable possibility? I am always taken aback by some of my old mindless ways. Like you say, just putting garbage in my one and only without giving it a second thought! Now, it is second nature to scrutinize the things I eat.

Buddy,
I am so glad to have you back here! :D I hope your walking continues to bring you peace and strength! Visit often, and we will do our best to remind you how good it feels!

Keep the Faith!

Just in 2 days and after reading Kelsie's great tips I've found that if I felt hungry I would just eat a little and see if I'm still hungry a little while later. Normally whatever the portion was I would eat it and wouldn't normally think anymore about it. I know it's only 2 days but I think I was just indenial before about eating for the sake of eating.

At the risk of sounding like an alcoholic, I don't drink much at all anymore! :) I used to have several beers a week (or margaritas or other delicious adult beverages). I'm sure that the drinks and the food I ate while under the influence attributed to my weight gain over the last several years. Now I'm a cheap date, because one beer or adult beverage is enough to knock me out! ;) Thankfully this keeps me from really pigging out when I'm not hungry (instead of munching baskets of tortilla chips to soak up some tequila...) ;) I know my liver is happier, I'm sleeping much better and I feel so energized and ready to go all the time!!!!!

TigH,
I totally understand! I am such a cheap date. DH says he wants to bar hop while in LV. I don't think I'll be doing too much hopping after the first stop. Actually, I've always prefered the Pub Crawl! It is more my speed and altitude!

Keep the Faith!

The WISH marathon has given me a goal and I'm loving my commitment to walking- I get depressed if I have to stick to a strict diet- I'm fine slimfasting one meal a day and walking 15-20 miles a week- this works for me!!

I find pleasure in making/packing my breakfast and lunch for work. I used to think of it as a chore, and never take the time to do it. Now I look at it as a way to take care of myself, treat myself... I pack food that will taste good, is good for me and looks nice. It's much easier to eat well that way then to run out...

I haven't had bread or sugar or any type of refined carbohydrates since 1/9/03. What is amazing to me, is that I don't even want anything like that, that is a huge change for me.
