We left on 9/16 and started the big drive from Dallas to WDW. We managed the 18 hour trip in a day and a half without even raising our voices (I guess we're meant to be together) and finally saw exit 25B for the Magic Kingdom and resorts!! I was so excited!!!
We pulled up to the WL, checked in by a very friendly CM (you read about them, but you just don't know how nice they are til you meet one) and finally found our villa. Those halls are so maze-like. Our one BR was perfect. I was thanking God for that jacuzzi whirlpool by the end of the week when my very weak knees weren't working too well. We ate that evening at Artist Point and it was very good. Very different, but good. I had gotten the Discovery Magic plan and I learned that evening at dinner that I was going to have the opportunity to eat ALOT that week. I'm not sure how they average that out, but we were each allowed an appetizer, a salad/soup, an entree and a dessert. Half my meal and the dessert went back to the villa and that was the case for much of the week. Glad we didn't buy too many groceries.
Day 1 was Epcot. We're not very gadgety, but we are animal and earth lovers so we spent most of our morning in the Living Seas and the Land. Those manatees are just the cutest things eating their romaine lettuce. We also did test track which was very exciting and fun. We then popped over to Showcase where we had the best food at Biergarten in Germany. We wandered around looking in shops, hopped over to MK to get our e-ride bracelets and back to Epcot for dinner at the Coral Reef.
E-ride was the absolute best, even though the crowds were light to begin with and I would say to anyone "Don't miss it!". It's a different atmosphere and it took us a while just to figure out where we were going since we had never been there before. It was great just to ride most of the biggies so we could move slowly on our EE day on Thursday. The CMs were the best at giving us directions. Our ride operator asked as we were coming out of Big Thunder if we wanted to go again and we all screamed affirmative. Unfortunately, the ferry stops running after 7:30 so you have to bus back to WL. It took the bus FOREVER to pick us up and on already exhausted legs, it was interesting. When we got back, we discovered that somebody had left us an autographed picture of Mickey and Minnie and balloons. It was very sweet.
More on our adventure tomorrow.
