The Beauty of DVC

Just for the fun of it I roughly figured out what it would cost cash (rack rates) for our upcoming trips.

We currently have a trip 3/6-3/16 (3 nights in a studio at OKW and 1 week at BLT 1BR MKV).

BLT MKV for that time period is $680 per night plus tax!

The 10 nights came to almost $6700. Roughly figuring out what I will pay in dues this year plus the cost of my pts (spread out over the length of the contracts) I am paying roughly $2100 to DVC in 2010 (normalized). Saved $4600 on this one trip.

We are also planning on a week next nov/dec at BLT 1BR STD. If I factor this trip in is well, plus AP's and the TiW discount, in 2010 I will be saving almost $9000.

OK, given I never would have stayed at BLT if I didn't own DVC nor did I ever pay rack rates when I was paying cash but still.

Heck if we stayed at CBR for both trips we'd still save roughly $2500.

Got to love DVC!

I went to the Disney site and planned the same trip on there that I am taking in April. The price they gave me was just short of $8,000!!

Not only would we not have stayed in some of the larger accomodations we have without DVC we would not be going as often either. This Friday will be our 6th trip in 14 months.

If it wasn't for DVC we wouldn't be going to WDW. We love the space and wouldn't want to stay in a regular hotel room, way too small!

I totally agree with you on the space issue. We recently stayed in at Kidani in a 2-bed. Immediately after checking out of Kidani, we checked into a Marriott (standard king room) and I wanted to cry! I felt like I was in a tiny closet space.

I guess it wouldn't have been such a shock to the system if we hadn't just left AKL. But it really made me realize how much we love our DVC.
