The Attic at BWV

***"I am just sick of all the negatives regarding all the DVC resorts, other than OKW, so I thought I would take all the false and baloney statements that have been made over and over again for years now regarding these resorts and turn the tables a little. "***

When I first read this, all I could think was " You're kidding, right.OKW is bashed more then any resort."

I own at three resorts with OKW being my original home. I have no axe to grind with any resort and don't pay attention to all the negative bantering that goes on on this board over "mines better", (also, most of this banter is just good-natured fun,no harm,no foul). But with the exception of an unidentified "Rich" most posters- IMO- seem to gang up on OKW, ie No slide, Location, OLD Key West, Fitness center, Olivia's, No slide, etc. But anyway, that's just my impression after a couple years on this board.

We now return you to the original topic.

This has strayed far from the topic presented.

Please keep responses only to the original topic.

Wasn't the attic originally going to be like a members club or social area for DVC members only and not an area to rent out for parties? Perhaps I'm wrong.

You are correct, this was the original intention for the attic, unfortunately this never came to pass.

I did some exploring in 1998 and found myself in the Attic room. It was empty from all furniture except a few long banquet tables. The door was ajar and no one was around. So I went in. It has a great view of the boardwalk and seemed a shame that it appeared to be going unused.

I, too, wish they would open it up for member meetings, or reception area, or a great place for a drink and fireworks viewing at night. I would think this would be a better spot than the BellVue room.

Lampy that was the original intend - but someone changed their mind - I got the idea it was WDW not DVC that say no - it will be rented.....I know when I asked my guide what happen she was pretty embassed and changed the subject.

Hmmm. I had been thinking of planning something special for my DH and I for our 5th wedding anniversary. Already ordered a mini-replica of our wedding cake to be delivered to our room. I wonder if a quiet dinner for two could be done in The Attic and how much that would cost???

If anyone finds out more about the Attic, please post. I'd love to know!

I am in the process of planning my wedding at WDW. I was sent the following when I enquired about using it for my reception.

Members Attic ~ Disney’s BoardWalk:
The food and beverage minimum (exclusive of service charges and sales tax) for use of this venue is $2,500.00 for events ending prior to 5:00 pm and $4,500.00 for events ending after 5:00 pm. Existing seating arrangements must be utilized. Seating capacity, combining indoor and outdoor seating, is 60 guests. Standard menus are for buffets only.

yes it is still high (well in my book anyway) - did you get any prices w/o food - or do you have to do the $2,500 or $4,500 those are the minimum?

That's all I was provided with. Since we are doing a dinner I didn't thinkto ask it I could rent it without the food & beverage minimum. We decided against the Attic so that's all the information I have.

The attic is available for functions.

I want the first week of December for one evening.

Between 8am and 5pm the cost is $1,500 after 5PM it’s $2500. This is for during the week, weekend rates (Friday-Saturday) are more. This must be without food since the cost posted above is much higher. It was a bit out of my price range. We are only 14 people.

I did talk to the very nice gentlemen at the BW Private Lounge Sales office and he was very helpful with offering suggestions for something more in my price range. I will contact them get a list of things to choose from and make other arrangements.

Every year when we go to WDW at this time, we try to do something a bit different, it is our Christmas present to ourselves. My husband and I do not exchange gifts. This will be our present. I may let you all know what we decide when plans are finalized.

I know this thread has kindof taken on a different turn, but I do know some of you were interested in what I found out so I thought I’d at least give you a bit of information.
