The Anguilla Dolphin was the BEST

Ann, thanks for all the info. and pictures! I know there is limited space available, so how did you go about getting in? Did you fax in your request or what is the best way to do it? Thanks for your help!

I called first thing in the morning on our 60 day mark. I do think it fills up fast so I would suggest doing the same, they can only take 60 people.

Hi Ann

Thanks for the great pictures!! We can't wait to go!! "SANTA" left a note for my 2 DD's saying that the dolphins wanted to swim with them!!

Ann - When you booked your excursion did you book it through DCL? If so, what number did you call? This is our first cruise and we're are going through a friend's TA since we are getting a group rate. I would still feel more comfortable if I would make the call directly. Is the sixty day mark from the date of the excursion or the date of sailing?

yes you call DCL direct.. (877)566-0968. or you can fax your request to (407)566-7031The sixty day mark is 60 days from when you sail not from the excursion date.
The only way you can book this is by going through DCL as they book the entire facility for the day. There are no spots available for non DCL participant.

you must call and book your excursion directly with DCL regardless of if you have booked your cruise through DCL or through a travel agent.

what I meant was you can not book seperately with Dolphin fantaseas on the day DCL is in port. If you were on vacation in Anguilla or St. Maarten and wanted to book on your own on another day you could. But on days that DCL is in port they book the entire facility.
Everyone regardless of how they booked their cruise (we were DVC on the last cruise) must book this excursion via DCL.
Sorry if I was confusing.

How much was the dolphin swim? What is the age requirement? Is 7 old enough? Thanks.:D Oh, are the waves on the beach to high for a 7 yo to play in them?

Cost..
Adult Price: $180 (ages 10 and above)
Child Price: $158 (ages 5-9)
Departure Time: 7:30 am

The waves were high but I think a seven year old would be ok, especially closer to shore, there were no waves in the dolphin lagoon. The excursion is pricey but well worth it!

Thanks Ann, It is kind of pricey but, as you can see If we do decide to do it, I have plenty of time to save up.:D

Thank you so much for the info!

How was the sand in the water at the beach? Do we need
to bring water shoes?

Was there any shade at the beach and/or at the dolphin encounter place?

Thanks!

Oh my goodness the sand!!!!!!!!! I have never felt sand like it before,, it was SOOOOOOOOOOOO soft and really thick, you sank into it like walking here in new england after a really big snow storm and you sink into the snow, I would say you sank down about four to six inches, it was the softest powdery sand, not a pebble in it! no need for water shoes at all!! As for shade, they have umbrellas set up on the beach as well as a big gazebo area to eat in, lots of places to get out of the sun (and it is very hot there)

Ann, have you ever fallen into snow like that? It's not a pleasant experience - especially when you sink up to your neck and can't get out! This is another one of those Dad and me moments - and thankfully, he was able to "lasso" me around the neck and pull me out far enough to get my arms around the rope!
Not one of those things I'd like to experience again but definitely a Kodak moment!

You are really tempting us with the dolpin swim. But I do have a question, why can't we bring "underwater cameras"? I'm afraid if my camera gets wet, it will be ruined!

Rae

You can take it in with the stingrays and to the beach and to capture other pictures (all my pictures were taken with my underwater camera) you just can not take it in with the dolphins, they CLAIM it is to protect the dolphins so that they don't get bumped with the camera etc.. but I think it is so y ou will just purchase their pictures.

Thanks Ann - laughed at that comment, hey, everybody has to make a buck somehow.

Can the people who aren't in the water hold the camera or is everyone in at the same time?

Rae

Yes! Infact if you are smart (we were not) you could split your group, have two people go in group two (after the initial split where half go to the beach) and two in group one or group three, then you could have someone film you with the dolphins. While at the stingrays etc. you can film away as you have plenty of time to get in and out of the water.
