THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

Vicotr with the leg cramp cracked me up - when Tammy asked if he could just put it in the car I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Us, too. dh and I were yelling at the TV, "just do that in the car!" :rotfl2:

My thoughts on last night's show:

I wasn't surprised it was a "continuation" show, just because you had the airport stuff that leveled the field, then the tasks weren't all that time consuming. Certainly, not much separates the teams at this point.

I'm liking Victor more and more. He started out being such a jerk, but he's always encouraging other teams and smiling at them, trying to help them along (within reason, of course). He and Tammy didn't seem mad about the other teams using their language skills, then they didn't even win that leg (last week). Maybe the race is loosening him up a bit?

I'm not a big fan of Kisha and Jen, and I'm mystified that they didn't learn to swim at some point in their adult lives. A swimming portion is not that unusual. that said, I have to give major props to Jen for fighting through her fears--that has to be real tough. It's not like she had to golf and had never done it--she was really, really scared! And I really respect Kisha for being so supportive, thinking that they were going to be eliminated, and still telling Jen to finish strong. I have amuch higher opinion of them than I did before.

I still like Margie and Luke. They rocked at the swimming challenge.

The redheads are just annoying. I got so tired of them saying they deserved to win a leg--excuse me? Is this a new "requirement"? And being polite and respectful in other countries is going to get you a lot farther in life.
I mostly agree with this. I was totally on Margie and Luke's side of things last week, but they started to annoy me last night. Margie went off on someone again about laughing when Luke was trying to communicate, though I was doing the dishes and didn't quite catch the whole situation or who it was. I'll have to re-watch! ;)

As much as I dislike Kisha and Jen, I was also impressed at how patient Kisha was. I started thinking it would be sad if it was a genuine fear that caused their elimination, but then remembered other seasons, where some contestants had to conquer other fears, and I didn't feel so bad for them anymore. Swimming is common on TAR, she should have practiced and gotten comfortable in the water before the start of the race. Plus, they had life vests and lane markers to hold on to. As scared as you are, on TAR, you have to just bite the bullet and do that stuff.

I am still a Margie & Luke fan. I just chalk all the bad behavior up to jet lag, exhaustion, nerves etc.

I am also really liking Tammy and Victor. I couldn't believe he was such a drama queen about his leg cramp!! I know it IS painful, but come on, just get in and work it out in the cab! I did feel bad though because I know how painful a charley horse can be and it was probably a lot worse than that.

I am a massage therapist and I found the foot massage roadblock hilarious.

I know someone who went to China a couple years ago and she had that message done to her feet and legs! :scared:Said it hurt like hell but later it wasn't bad, made them feel good after a lot of walking.

Us, too. dh and I were yelling at the TV, "just do that in the car!" :rotfl2:

I kept saying, "just lay down in the back seat and GO"!!!!!!

What's a gnome task?

Where they find the Travelocity Gnome statue and have to carry it on to the Pit Stop.

About the pool challenge, Jen (?) was probably looking at the differances in the pools and thinking that it would be faster and easier to get out of the dive pool, especially if she panicked.

Someone said something about the depth of the pools, the lap pool would have still been pretty deep and when you are as scared of it as she was both would have been equally terrifying.

Wearing a lifevest is not something that would necessarily have made her feel secure, nor the buoys.

I know how she feels! :scared1:I am scared in water that is much deeper that 4 to 4 and a half feet and the thing that freaks me out the most is my feet not being able to touch the bottom.

I'll tell you all a funny. We had gone to Six Flaggs one summer and were at the lazy river. I was in an inner tube and went to push off from the bottom and my feet didn't touch. :scared1:I was seriously freaking out until I looked to my right and there was my godson walking along beside me! :rotfl: The tube had bobbed up high enough that my foot had just missed the bottom! :rolleyes1

OT ----
I used to love that popcorn in your signature line - I haven't seen it in YEARS!!
Don't be ridiculous...some of that same popcorn was given away on Let's Make A Deal yesterday. Oh...did I mention it was a 1974 rerun? :rotfl:

I am over my Margie/Luke love, last week really damaged it but this week killed it. Luke did another body check at the airport, completely uncalled for and he sailed right on by with Margie just chuckling. The sisters ignored him.

I'm gonna have to watch the episode again cuz I totally didn't see that!

I saw that too. They were both running for taxi's and they really collided. First thing I thought of was here we go again.

I really like Tammy and Victor and want them to win. At first I didn't but they really seem to help the other teams and not run anyone over or being mean.

I can't believe how difficult the diving portion of that detour turned out to be.

Exactly - I was like what the heck when T&V didn't score a 5 the time they almost hit the water at the same time. I don't see how it was possible to complete that challenge :confused3 A 5 out of a 5 - wow!

I was thinking that the reason they didn't get 5s was because of the take off, even though the show was emphasising the entry.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Getting his legs into the car while they were cramping would have been pretty much impossible. I'm surprised he got them in as quick as he did.

I don't know if you have seen the videos, but Tammy and Victor talk about the diving and why they had such a hard time doing it. Tammy is uncoordinated, she couldn't time her jumps with Victor so there was really no way they would hit the water at the same time.

A website, RealityFanForum, has the videos embedded but be warned, other threads there are heavy on the spoiler information. If you google RealityFanForum Amazing Race 14 Insider clips, you can easily get to the videos.

It is easier to watch the videos on that website than the CBS website which is amazingly slow. It was interesting to find out why Cara had such a hard time at the foot massage task. Now I feel bad I laughed at her, Jaime however would never warrant such sympathy.

Thanks for this information!!! Being in Canada we are not allowed a lot of the videos that are on websites. This works.

If Luke has a boyfriend...I feel sorry for the boyfriend. Can you imagine having to date Margie as well?

:rotfl2: Just think how bad its going to be when Margie can no longer take care of Luke. He'll be so lost, he won't know what to do.:confused3

Yes, Margie was trying to stir up trouble between Jenn and Kisha and the redheads. She told them that Jenn and Kisha laughed at Luke's signing. When the redheads seemed very shocked about it, Victor stepped in and gave "the other side" of the story. He told them that Kisha apologized and said that she was not laughing at Luke.

To me, that one looked like a genuine accident. They were both just running in different directions. It looked like Luke was looking the other way and didn't see anyone.

I'm with you on that one. He was having a severe leg cramp. I remember having a couple of those. The pain is so bad you just want to cry and you can't even bend your leg. Ugh, it's horrible. :sad1:

Why did she have a hard time? Does she have problems with her feet? I thought her crying was a bit over the top. Am I going to feel bad for thinking that? :rotfl:

Still playing the victim. :sad2: My poor baby. Whine, whine, whine. :headache: Glad that Victor was there to interject a bit of reality into her fable. Really, really hope that Margie and Luke are the next to go. PLEASE BE THE NEXT TO GO!!!

OK, I rewatched it. It's funny how much you can miss when you're busy with dinner and stuff. She was just telling the redheads about what happened on the mat, I had thought it was a whole new incident! :rotfl:

They really seem to be dwelling on the last leg, though. Geesh! Get over it and move on!

To me, that one looked like a genuine accident. They were both just running in different directions. It looked like Luke was looking the other way and didn't see anyone.
absolutely. Neither one was really paying attention, they were just running for taxis, neither was more at fault than the other.

Can anyone make out what K/J says right after this? Immediately after they collide, you can hear one of the girls (not sure if it was K or J) say "hell no", and that is spelled out on the bottom of the screen, but then you hear her say something else, that isn't spelled out for us. I hear a drawn out "aaa" sound (like in apple) but I can't tell for sure. Is she name calling again?

K&J really irritated me when they were behind M&L at the airport counter, trying to ask the other woman to help them, then saying "she just gives that dumb look", "It's patented in China.", "they should be able to say 'me no speak English' or something like that. But they just give you this dumb look, like zombies." :sad2: I give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were talking about the cabs when they said "they all look the same", but that was pretty Ugly American in the airport, IMO.

The redheads grew on me a little in this episode. The one seems to have realized how obnoxious she's been and toned it down. I don't think their emphasis on coming in first was just about the prize, but maybe as a way to prove that they could. After this leg, first is the only place you want to be, and doing it once in one leg would give them a huge amount of confidence for the finale.

I'm really liking Tammy and Victor now. They are like Switzerland, trying to remain neutral and smooth things over between the others. :rotfl2: Victor had me cracking up when he came out of the locker room in his little Speedo lauging and saying "this is like, skimpy-land!" :happytv:

Cara has had a lot of foot injuries from when she was in ballet, she says it agony for her feet to be touched, she doesn't let anyone mess with her feet. No pedicures, no foot rubs, nothing.

Phil's blog is an interesting read about the J/K and M/L issues. I'd post the link but don't have enough posts to do so, but you can google Phil Keoghan blogs 'The Amazing Race': episode 10 and that should take you to the EW site.

From Phil's blog
I just want to say for the record that I think Kisha is a great big sister. I believe she really showed some of her true colors during last night's episode. Her sister Jennifer could not have had a tougher, more frustrating leg. We were all pretty concerned that Jennifer wouldn't even complete the detour. She was absolutely paralyzed by the water. I was really impressed with the way Kisha held it together for her sister and didn't resort to yelling...or as Mel and Mike would say, going all "agro" on her. And for the record, not like I really need to say it, but how fast is Michael Phelps?
