Wondering if you could please help me. My youngest DD does not like the offerings at the dinner at 'Ohana..I see the menu offers an alternative for children. Does anyone know what they offer in place of the skewers? Thanks :)

My nephew has allergies so was unable to eat the offerings. He was offered hot dogs, mac n cheese and other choices. I believe they are the choices that are available to most kids at most places. (He had the mac n cheese and loved it!)

Yes, they do have alternatives, but beware. Back "in the old days", they used to only charge you the cost of the alternative meal (because it just comes from Kona Cafe next door) instead of the all-you-can-eat price. Well, the last time that we went to 'Ohana, our DD ordered a hot dog, since we knew she wouldn't eat the rest of the offerings. Well, when we checked out, they charged us the full price. We questioned and they said, oh no, it's all-you-can-eat hot dogs too, so you're charged the same price. We were actually told that they knew that people didn't like it, and some customers have ordered to-go stuff from next door or the counter service at the Poly because it was 1/2 the price.

Just to let you know.

Thanks so much for your help.. we have the free dining plan this time..so the price shouldn't be an issue :) Again, thanks :)

We just ate at OHana and 2 of my kids got the alternate choices. They were mac and cheese, chicken fingers, hot dog, grilled cheese and PB&J. May have been more but that is all I remembered.

I ordered the chicken fingers for both kids who were up doing the hula at the time. My DD 5 decided she wanted the hot dog instead. I asked the waitress if I can change one order to the hot dog and she said she already put the order in. She said she would see what she could do. She brought out 2 chicken finger meals and a hot dog meal because the order was already in.

I expected to get charged the $10.99 per kid because on our last visit that is what they did. I was surprised to see that we were onby charged for 2 kids meals at the Kona price.

So...I think it may be what the waiter/waitress wants to charge. Be sure to ask PRIOR to ordering what the price is for the kids meals as an alternate to the regular menu. This way you know in advance what you will be charged.

Oops! You posted quicker than I did. Well at least you don't have to worry about what they charge then. Enjoy! :goodvibes

and thanks so much for the further info!!

We were on DDP and ate at 'Ohana a week ago. Two of my kids had alternate choices: one got chicken fingers and the other grilled cheese. They're basically allowed anything on the kids' menu at Kona. Our server told us regardless of what they ate, they'd be charged the "feast" price for 'Ohana of $10.99, which didn't matter to us. They got the 'Ohana dessert, but our server then brought out regular bowls of vanilla ice cream for them. On the DDP, they also got smoothies in addition to the regular milk or soda included with the meal, so they thought that was really great too.

What I liked about it is that even if they get the alternative kids meal, they can also eat the skewers. We weren't sure if our DS would like them so he got a cheeseburger, but he also happened to like the turkey skewer. Best of both worlds!
