Never seen the heaters anywhere else... but then again, that doesn't mean anything. They could be new to WDW, or I could just be non-observant.

As for the blast of air, my understanding is that in addition to keeping the bugs out, it also helps keep the climate control on the inside.

The frozen cola machine is back in business (one side anyway)..very wierd stuff!

Last night I had a dream that one side of the frozen drink machine was now working. It was flavored with a coke drink, but next door the orange flavor wasn't freezing up. This is really sad that I'm dreaming of slushies. Can't I dream about winning the lottery?

Hey Susie Bee!!! We're just on the outskirts of Portland....luckily, the temps around here have been warmer than where you are....I think the temp yesterday was -35 with wind chill....and we were the warmest city in the state!

Even if the Orlando daytime temps are in the 40's and 50's (let's hope they aren't, but there were when we were there 3 years ago), it will still be a nice change for us! And it's Disney...you can still have fun and feel great even if the weather is chilly!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather for your trip Susie if you promise to do the same for mine...deal?

Heidi, deal, I will keep my fingers crossed for you--& me! :sunny: I'm hoping we'll have warm weather too---60's and 70's would be great!! We went in 2002 around the same time and it was OK--not great for swimming but not as warm at I had hoped. In 2001 we went in March and the weather was perfect!!! We got great deals on airline tickets and decided to go in the beginning of February again...

Yeah, the news was saying it was -35 with the wind-chill but I had to run to the local grocery store and it was colder than that up here!!--not as bad as it was on Wednesday--Wednesday was brutal! They claimed -65 with the wind-chill, it was hard to breath when you stepped out for a few minutes!! The funny thing is we have barely any snow!!! It snowed in October, November & December--almost 3 feet of snow fell--it pretty much melted and we only have about 9 - 10 inches & it's mid-January!

Anyways, not to long before I'm out of here!! Have fun on your trip!!:sunny:

Hey, Tigger&Belle, it's been soooo cold up here in northern Maine this past week that all you have to do is leave your favorite soda bottle outside for about 1 hour--bring it in before it explodes--and you'll have any soda slushy you want!!:teeth:

The views expressed here are purely personal ones and may not reflect anyone else's thoughts on the resort except my family.

I thought I would get a trip report done but doesn't look like I will soon but thought I would share a few personal observations from our Dec 23-Jan 1 stay:(sorry this ended up being so long)

We were in 90s with 2 connecting rooms. Upon check in we were told by CM to park in the 70s lot. We did notice that there were lots of problems with parking. Sounds like this may be getting better now.
The air in our rooms didn't seem quite right. As stated by others the thermostat did not go below 68. I don't believe it was even that cool in my room. Everytime I moved around the room I was sweating in about a minute. I know I am hot natured but this was really uncomfortable. The rest of the family didn't find it bad so I didn't say anything(they however never did anything but lay around when in the room)
We did not care for the "fluffy" pillows (personal perferences) it seemed to be like I was using an air pillow and was not real comfortable.
The safe in our room held my money, tickets, etc hostage the first night. I put our stuff in when we checked in and when I went to get it out it wouldn't open. Maintenance was there quickly when called and retrieved it for us right away. I was however reluctant to use the safe again.
My family loved the set up of the food court but we did not care for a lot of the food selection. Our family are sandwich eaters and all sandwich selections were on the baguette bread which we did not care for(thought it was tough)again just personal preferrences.
Our rooms were never cleaned before 1:00 pm and most days it was well after 2 before they were done. Also guess our maid thought we had enough shampoo & soap(I do take what is left each day that we don't use and put up to bring back for a children's program at our school, maybe I am not suppose to) The last three days or our stay she did not leave any shampoo or soap in either room.
We did not find the walk to the front bad at all. We cut around the parking lot and through by the playground and came out at the pop fountain. If we were going to the bus we just cut through the parking lot.
The location of Pop is very good. Simple to get to and not a long bus ride to any parks.
We really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful time. My family however says if or when we make another trip they want to go back to the all stars because they preferred the food selection for quick meals, go figure??

Tyler,

An excellent job!!::yes::
I'm so excited, I will be staying at PC 1/25 for three nights. Unplanned trip, which makes it more exciting.
Can't wait to check it out!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

DH and I are both hot natured and are now concerned about our May reservations at Pop Century. Is the resort going to address the air conditioning problems? I am reading more and more complaints about the air conditioning at Pop Century.

Wow..did it get crowded tonight!! Bet you are busy Tyler. I'm still amazed with how clean this resort is being kept..in spite of all the spills people seem to do on the floors and walkways. By the way, our room is getting cleaned pretty early, and although I scarf up the toiletries for the local womens/chldren's shelter..so far they have been replaced each day.

Tyler..a question just for my own curiosity..there is a motor home parked in the parking for the 80's. It's been there for a few days. They have their push-out out, and their generator running. Is this something that Pop is allowing..and do you pay the full room rate? We camp, and are very surprised to not just see it parked there (because they may have driven down and are staying in the hotel..but being used. Just curious why it's not over to the campground. We did notice it's back end is very low..it's "sweeper" is touching the ground.

Not quite sure of the specifics, but I did see the motorhome you mention. There is also one in the 50's. I'm wondering if the generator is running to keep the refridgerator and appliances working? They could be using the kitchenette to cook meals, and using the resort room to sleep and shower?

As for the back end, my guess is that because it's been sitting, the air in the airbag suspension has slowly leaked out. Perfectly normal, happens to our buses too. Once the coach is started up, and the aircompressor kicks in, it'll rise right up, and be perfectly functional.

You're prob right. I still wonder why the heck they aren't in the campground..although the campground looks pretty full, so maybe they are here for a few nights and then there.

Interesting about the back end. We pull a travel trailer so we don't have the air in the backside..but I bet you are right there too. We've seen the people out and about, and they must be feeding gas to their generator..so they might as well cook their meals too, while there!

We'll be stopping by for a more "proper" hi at some time.

I noticed on another thread that at MGM the bus stop for POP is past the All-Stars. Is this the same at all the parks? It kind of makes sense since it is the newest Value, but uggh, when I think of the walk at MK and Epcot... at night, when tired...

Just a word for those of you who don't like open balconies- In your lists of requests be sure to add not the 4th floor. We arrived at 2 a.m. the first night.- no reservations to be found and the disney computers were down . So blessedly they still put us up just for that night until they confirmed with our reservation supplier, in 2 non-connecting rooms on 2 of the 50's facing the parking lot. So I thought it would be nice to face a courtyard. They moved us while we were at the park to a 70's connecting room facing the foose ball court but on the 3rd floor. At 2 a.m. I hadn't noticed that there were 2 more balconies above. Thank God they didn't put us on the 4th. My kids would have absolutely refused to pack up again. By the end of our 6 days there I almost wasn't hugging the wall as I came around the corner.

DH and I will be arriving at PC on Friday -- woohoo! We both enjoy tea or coffee in the morning, prepared with our tea press. If there is a hot water dispenser at the food court, then we'll bring our own loose tea/ground coffee and our press. Otherwise, we won't bother. Does anyone know if there is a hot water dispenser at the food court?

Thanks!

I was kinda wondering the same thing about the bus stops at the parks. Are all the pop century added at the end of the others. I remember that stop at the Epcot being a long walk at the end of a long day! Will be there in May can't wait It's getting closer!!

By arriving at the airport after midnight only Goodings was open.We missed the subs that someone just mentioned.
We did buy a styrofoam cooler,
a jug of milk,
bag of ice,
bananas,
6 buns,
bag of small bagel
a case of water bottles and a big water jug.
spray can of Lysol anti-bacterial, anti-virus. left it there -can't take on plane

I brought fom home
a hot pot
styrofoam bowls, we used some.
plastic plates -never opened
Hot cereal packets, used some
crackers, used a few
peanut butter, opened it the 2nd last day
small containers of margarine and butter, never used -left them in garbage
2 types of cold cereal in ziplock bags,
Tuna and salmon/ cracker packs, DH and I ate at parks at lunch
cup of soup packages. only 2 used despite the cold -drank a lot of POP hot choc
and soup/noodles in a cup and noodle soup packagess. brought all home
a few tea bags and instant coffee - both of which DH and I had only in the A.M.'s
My plan was to have cheap breakfasts for the 21y.o's to have before they hit the parks- to save their money on what they bought for lunch. They seldom ate any of it- even the one who eats bkft at home
The POP mugs gave us good value.

Our own 21y.o. DD LOVED the POP and considered all the other resorts dull sounding/ looking. I loved being on a quick bus route for the kids being out and about all day and especially at night. Now if it was only on the monorail too!
It was very bright, clean and tidy and our mousekeeper was good. No mickey folded towels but fan-folded ones.
Two mornings she would have done the rooms by 10 if we'd been gone.

We did our free minigolf in the rain one night - what a hoot but that wasn't the cooold night. Cold and wet would not have been fun.

Yes there are 3.

BUSES Yes the POP buses do seem to be at one end or another for most of the parksbus pick-ups. Except at DTD west marketplace when it is the closest.

The 4th floor has BALCONIES????  I want one in 11 days!!!! Do ALL of the 4th floor buildings have balconies? TYLER!!!

I thank she was talking about the breezeway...Values don't have balconies.

 I would have to see a picture of it to really get the meaning......

A breezeway is a outside hallway, or walkway...like most Motels have a covered walkway and the rooms are off it.
Hope this helps.
