The all New *OFFICIAL JUNE* 2011 thread! Some like it hot!

I am so nervous about heat and crowds... We went for our first trip in October last year and everything was PERFECT.
Hope this free dining is worth it!

This is our third June trip in 3 years. Just stay hydrated and duck into air conditioning when you need to. I promise you'll be fine and will enjoy yourself. The good thing is the parks are open later, so you can take advantage of the coolest parts of the day--we go to whatever the least crowded park is in the morning, then swim and rest at the resort, and then return for the park that has evening EMH. It's not the way the touring plans tell you to do, but it works for us.

OK...cruise is now over so I can focus on my WDW trip countdown

Got 99 days before I head to FL and 101 before I'm checking into ASMu. :cool1:

Not sure what we will do. Right now the plan is to make this one a relaxing trip...pool or park depending on our mood for the day. I do have a personal goal of FINALLY getting on TSM but everyone else has so that's not high on their list. :rotfl: Me being an anal planner that I am HAVE to plan something and since we have some newbies going with us here's some must do's on my list:

  • Arrival Day - June 12th - OPEN/Pool????
  • Day 1 - June 13th - Magic Kingdom (debating dinner at Crystal Palace)
  • Day 2 - June 14th - Epcot & HS ending the night with Fantasmic
  • Day 3 - June 15th - Animal Kingdom and pool
  • Day 4 - June 16th - OPEN
  • Day 5 - June 17th - Check Out with lunch at Fultons

Hey, anybody planning any extras while at Disney? We are planning a non-park day in the middle so DH can go bass fishing, the girls want to parasail, & I think I'm going to book DS a kids' pirate cruise. That night is our "dress up" dinner at Yachtsmans!:lovestruc

So funny...we were just talking about this over the weekend and I spent yesterday looking into a few extras for us as well. The trick will be fitting them into our schedule which I already have set since I don't have any NO PARK days...just breaks in the afternoons just about every day. :lmao:

My DS 6 LOVES fishing...so we are really thinking about booking a fishing excursion. I was reading yesterday some reviews on it and it sounds GREAT! I think DH will enjoy it as well...but I'm not sure about my other two kids. My MIL actually loves to fish and really wants to go. So now the problem is that the boats only hold five...and I kinda would like to go just to see it. However if I go, that means all five of us go and no room for MIL. :confused3

I thought perhaps I should just let DH, DS, MIL and FIL go on the fishing trip and give my DD 8 also the option...since she may actually enjoy it too. That leaves me with DS 11 and we'd need to find something to do...a little bonding time for the two of us? I don't know. That's what's making this challenging.:scared1:

The surfing looks REALLY cool too...would love to try it...but only if I can lose about 15-20 pound before the trip. :worship: My goal set for myself this week is starting NOW to lose 15 pounds in 15 weeks. It seems pretty reasonable...but I have no willpower and I LOVE food! :rotfl2:

Anyway was also thinking I'd love to do the EPCOT Segway tour and so would MIL and FIL but that leaves nothing for the kids. We may have to save that for a future trip or maybe a non-kids trip. Good reason to return in the Fall and do the F&W Festival again! :thumbsup2

The kids cruises looked cool too. So many OTHER non-park things to do!!!

I know Disney offers so much to do, it's hard to fit them all in in one trip! (thereby justifying a bounce-back!) When the girls were little, the parks & a pool/resort day was enough but now they are savvy teens & know that you can parasail, go horseback riding, rent Surrey bikes, do cruises, & rent mouseboats (which they can drive without us adults ), we have to plan more stuff! :surfweb: The Epcot Segway tour looks supercool but only DH & DD17 could do it (well, OK I could but don't really want to cluck-cluck). The bass fishing we've done on all our trips. DH is a fishing fiend & it's not vacation if he can't hook something :rolleyes1. When we were a family 5 it worked out well, now we're 6 & can't all fit on the boat. But that's OK because 2 of us are now teens who find it SO BORING :snooty:! I'm actually thinking of doing the fishing trip on the bass boat rather than the pontoon & making it a guys' day out for DS & DH.

95 more days!! I love reading all the planning and excitement! COME ON JUNE!!! :woohoo:

So I guess you enjoy the bass boat trip then? Would love to hear from somebody else who's done it. I think DS 6 will LOVE this and so will DH AND his mom! :thumbsup2

Have you ever tried the Segway? We did the short little demo and ride of it in Innoventions a few years ago and it was quite fun and easy! :thumbsup2

I didn't know about horseback riding. In my best Grease voice... tell me more, tell me more!

We are doing a few things, all 6 of us are going parasailing for the first time, doing the wishes dessert party, and my oldest(16) and my parents are going on the Epcot segway tour. Also trying to find time to do the horse carriage at Por/Pofq.

We are also trying the horse carriage ride and we are going to do the fishing they have there as well. It's nothing fancy. You just get some bait and stand off of the bridge, but you know what...my son will love it!

We will be taking our first family trip to Disney World this June. We will be staying at POP from June 5th - 11th. It will be me, my wife and DD15, DS13, DS7, DS5. We are so excited!

Yay! Welcome to your group. I have added your information to our list on page 1. :woohoo:

Welcome I added you to our list as well. I am so jealous of the free dining pin! pixiedust: Good for you for the pixie dust. Every pin we have received this year (and I'm not complaining because we got 4 so far) has not been for the time of year that we need and now that these are out, it would figure we wouldn't get one!

Add me! My family and I are going June 5-14, 2011. We're staying at the Beach Club!

Welcome to the group! I am glad you headed on over! :cheer2:

We have decided to do a few extras although they are all not new to us. We are going to get massges at AKL and we are taking our son to do the Pirate's League. We were waivering back and forth but we decided to take the leap. I think he will really enjoy it. We also toyed with the idea of doing the Behind the Seeds tour at the Land in Epcot. (really think it looks like fun and you can take anyone of all ages and that is important for us). I really like hearing other ideas. It gives me so much to think about! :thumbsup2

Just called and we get free dining for when we're planning to go! We mite upgrade our resort now :)

im newish to planning disney trips so I was wondering did you just call and ask for free dining?? lol im sure that not quite how it went but i want free dining too!! haha

I called today and asked if there was a pin or code with my name. They said yes and now we have free dining. It saved us about $165 after we upgraded to the regular dining plan. The only thing is they didn't have Pop available with FD, so we switched to All Star Sports.

Thanks for the WELCOME everyone! We are very excited for our cruise on the Disney Dream! 111 Days until Disney 116 Days until the Disney Dream! I can hardly wait!!!!

My husband and I did the Segway tour last July and loved it! I was nervous about riding it, but it was actually really easy. It was amazing to zoom around the World Showcase with no one there (we did the earliest tour of the day). They also gave some interesting information in several of the countries. The "tour" part of it was fairly minimal though, so I would do it more for the segway riding than for the tour aspect.

We might suprise the boys and book them a pirate cruise. My MIL is coming so she has offered to watch the boys so DH and I can have a date night or 2. I'm hoping to suprise DH and book the Wishes Dessert Party for us as an anniversary present. If I can't get it, then we'll head out to EPCOT for EMH and eat/drink around the world. We wanted to go see La Nouba, but it's too pricey for us right now.

Just curious... are they only booking All Star Sports for the FD pin?
We requested Music (where we stayed last time) but they said they only had Sports available.

Oh well, only thing we do is sleep, shower and eat breakfast at the resort anyway! It will be fun to see another one, just hope it is as clean and friendly as Music.

I can't get my ticker to work????
Why does it show up like this?
Which format should I copy/paste? html or the other one?
:confused3
