The Adventurosity Club

Hi Ann! :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow:

I knew it was you right from the beginning! So good to hear from you again!
Sounds like you've been very busy!

So jealous you'll be at Disney at Christmas...,Eric and I were just talking about going at Christmas this year too! Only problem is....well....life.....money.....family......money.....time....money. Congrats though for making the decision to go! What a wonderful present!

Don't be a stranger here....it's just not the same without you!

Amy

Suz, so very sorry for your loss and then, so hoping this new chapter in your life is just wonderful!

Guess what? We (DH, DD and DS and myself) are also going to Disney again - this time during the peakest of peak seasons - over Christmas (26th - 4th)

Ann, thank you for the condolences. This has been such a hard summer, but I'm thinking positively and trying to work through the hardship in the best way I know how. The loss of my mother was terribly difficult, but she was suffering so much at the end that I was grateful to have her finally relieved of all of the pain.

Also, we are going to be at Disney the same time you are and we're also staying at Pop Century. We'll be there from January 1-8th and then we're taking the 3 day cruise from the 8-11th. I've got a 7th grader that I wasn't sure about taking out of school for that time, but she can do the make up work over the holidays and then it will be done before we leave for Disney. That will hopefully work out okay.

Where are your ADR's? We are doing the dining plan as well and we've got all our ressies made too. Inquiring minds want to know. I'll update you on our dining as soon as I find the box that has our list in it.

Suz

Hello my dear virtual friends!

First, let me say how much I miss all of you and hope that I will be visiting with you a bit more very soon. We have finally landed in West Virginia and we're amidst boxes, boxes, boxes. We sold so much of our furniture and storage things (plus we had a lot of built ins) so we have the need to go to IKEA in Pittsburgh to make some purchases today.

Marshay, I have been so anxious to know if you are expecting. I didn't want to ask in case it was a difficult subject but when I logged on and saw your "baby time line" my heart jumped for joy! I'm so very excited and happy for you.

Everyone else, I have not had any time to read and catch up so if I've missed anything super duper important, fun, or exciting will someone let me know?

Here is a quick update. The movers loaded on July 9-10 and delivered everything on July 15th. Jeff and I stayed here a few days to tie up some loose ends and unpack just a very few things. Then we drove back to Indiana on July 18th and flew out to Phoenix to be with my family and help with my Mom. Jeff and Bobbie came back to Indiana on the 29th and Katie and I stayed in Phoenix. We were supposed to stay 3 weeks and come back on the 9th. On the 8th, my mom woke up feeling awful. We took her to the doctor's office and he thought she should probably be admitted to the hospital. Very long ordeal made short, she ended up in the ER and at the wrong hospital due to an ambulance driver who was incredibly idiotic. She was there for about 6 hours. After about 5 hours she had a grand mal seizure as I was holding her hand. Things continued downhill from there. They finally got her moved to the correct hospital and she had 3 more grand mal seizures for a total of 4 in 3.5 hours. The doctor suspected that the cancer and spread to her brain. My sister, Dad and I made the decision to move mom to an in-patient hospice on Saturday the 9th. Mom passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 13th. It's been hard in so many ways, but I've had such a revelation about personal suffering (not mine, but my mother's). It's given me great peace.

We then flew back to Indiana to get our van and the dogs and landed her in Morgantown on the 23rd. Katie started middle school on the 26th and my in-laws came that same day for a house hunting trip. I love them and I'm so glad they are here, but we're in a real mess and I'm not the best hostess right now.

As always, I apologize that my few and far between posts are all about me. It won't always be that way, I promise. Know that I think of you often and WILL be back as a permanent member of our fun family!

Love to you all....

Suz

P.S. In mid July we booked a January trip to Disney for 7 nights followed by a 3 day Disney cruise (we're going with Balloon Guy and his family). This was of course before my mom passed away and now I really feel like this family time will be much needed.

S

Much love and prayers to you and your family.

You definitely have to let me know when you'll be in the NoVa area.

I'm loving all of the recent activity on this thread from some of our old friends! :teeth: (Now, I'll just have to back-track, play catch-up and read how everyone is doing...)

Oh, and I thought I'd post some details about the goings-on in the DISgeeks' household:
(I'm cross-posting from another thread. 'Hope that's okay...)

******

'Sorry for the silence. DD just started Kindergarten, so it has been a pretty hectic week in the DISgeeks household! (In fact, I think I may have just set a personal record for the longest time I’ve remained logged off the DISboards! )

Her elementary school hosted an open house Monday, where the kids got to visit their classrooms and meet their teachers, then Tuesday kicked off the first full day of school. (‘Not sure how things work in your area of the country, but – in our county – Kindergarten is a full-day affair.) Needless to say, the whole exercise has been pretty emotionally draining, which I guess should be expected for such a major milestone… The good news: DD hopped off the school bus Tuesday with a huge smile on her face and immediately asked if we could go to the playground with a few of her new found friends! :thumbsup2 What a relief!

DD poses for a picture in front of the school bus after her first day of school.

DD learned that one of the neighborhood boys in the photo above shares her same bus stop and Kindergarten class. (And - hey! - any kid who decks out in Disney garb for the first day of school is all right with me! :thumbsup2 )

Meanwhile, poor Little Man (DD2) was soooo distraught he couldn’t ride the school bus that I promised him a choo-choo train ride at a nearby park. We met a friend of mine and her toddler for an impromptu picnic and train-ride play date, which – quite frankly – was probably the best thing I could do to keep my mind off of DD’s first day of school.

Little Man looks forlorn after Big Sister leaves on the school bus.

A friend and I adapted an idea from the pages of a recent issue of FamilyFun magazine. We invited a group of neighborhood moms and their kids (mostly Kindergarteners) to a back-to-school breakfast in my friend’s front yard. It was a big success! :thumbsup2 The guest list grew to about 40 people, and I believe all of them made it. The moms were able to commiserate, take notes and introduce our children to a few of their new classmates. Sure enough, as we arrived at the school’s open house later that afternoon, we spotted a few [new] familiar faces several paces behind us because of the morning’s festivities! Mission accomplished! :woohoo: Thank you Disney for such a great idea! :woohoo:

Back-to-School Breakfast Spread

'Hope everyone has a Happy Labor Day! I'm thinking that all of those elementary school teachers definitely earned their three-day weekend! ::yes::

Oh, DISGeeks -- how are you doing with All-day Kindergarten???

My DD starts Pre-school next week (2x/wk for 3.5 hours) and I'm already both looking forward to it and dreading it. It's convenient so I can make all my doc appts w/o her but I will also miss her and we won't be able to do the music/gym classes together anymore.

I saw that Family Fun idea about the group breakfast before school and thought that was a wonderful idea too! Good job!

About the nausea: Hang in there, Marshay! And, remember that this, too, shall pass!

Thanks for posting the image of your little Marshay, Jr. (Do you plan to find out the baby's sex, or do you prefer a surprise in the delivery room? I can't remember if you've already mentioned that little detail...)

I second the question...are you going to find out Marshay??? And if so, how much longer do you have to wait?

You mean ... how much longer do we have to wait?!? ;)

Um, yes, it's all about us!

Yes, we plan to find out the sex...we should know at the 20 week appt (unless one of the prior ultrasounds "reveals" it sooner).

Since I'm GASP 38 yo and IVF, I'm considered a "high risk" pregnancy and besides my regular OB, I'll be going to a Maternal Fetal Specialist -- the good news is I'll get more ultrasounds!!

So we should know sex in about 9 weeks or early Nov.

Everyone who is going to Disney -- YEAH FOR YOU!!! I hope you all can meet up someway, somehow.

DD asked me the other day, "when are we going back to Disney World?"

I asked her, "when do you want to go?"

She replied, "this afternoon."

A daughter after my own heart!!!

Playing a little catch-up again:

Hiya mom.... what's shaking?

Ok.... so update on the breast cancer situation with my mother in-law.... she finished her first round of chemo and had a mastectomy.... the tissue and lymph nodes all came back as being free from cancer, so at the moment it seems she is getting the "all clear" from the doctors. She still has to do a second round of chemo, but fortunately she only has to go once every 3 weeks.

That's great news, HMF! :)

So.... school update also. I've changed my major! After a long heart to heart with my mother a few weeks ago (she had been a nurse for years and now has moved into an administration role) she told me that I would make a wonderful nurse, my patients would love me and I would have the best bedside manner.... but with her knowing my personality she said that I wouldn't enjoy actually being a nurse. It was a great chat filled with some tears, advice, huge, and positives all around. With that said.... I've always wanted to open my own coffee shop. A funky place where local artists can sell their crafts, where locals hang their cup on the wall, where the coffee flavors aren't just Dunkin/Starbucks flavors..... so now I'm majoring in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing & Entrepreneurship. Phew.... so there ya have it..... that is the excitement that has been going on with me for the past few weeks.

More exciting news! :thumbsup2 Please keep us posted!

I love it and once kids go to school and/or move on, I'll have the joy to decide what I really want to do when I grow up!

You and me both... 'Think it could be something Disney related, (I hope)?? ;)

So DisGeeks,

How was the marathon? Did you hear me cheering for you from 30 miles away? I have massive vocal chords!
;)
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
I can't believe you were so close and we didn't even wave on I64!

Let me know when you're up and running....maybe I'll make a special appearance. And then you could put an autographed picture of me up in the coffee shop like I was famous or something! :thumbsup2

I remember some previous "appearances"! :rolleyes1 There might not be room amongst the tables and chairs though for any spinning this time! :teeth:

OMG!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was just thinking ... which picture would it be?? The one that (FTC or was it MadBrad? sorry I forget who) had of you in Wonder Woman costume?

That was classic!:goodvibes :lmao:

Wha? This little gem?!? (It took me a while to find it, btw...)

WonderFleagle.jpg

Hey, folks: The fun starts on page #168, post #2519 of our old "CMO TOP 10 Announced" thread (and picks up again on page #171, post #2560), when we were introduced to Mrs. Fleagle's alter ego.

By our third CMO-related thread, The Top Three Meet Dis-nee (CMO Contest, Part Three), page #79, post #1171, KigerKat honored "Wonder Fleagle" with the lovely work of art pictured above!

:rolleyes1 Sooo.... Am I now in trouble with Mrs. F?? ('Cuz I really hate it when "Mom" is mad... )

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Actually, the other day I was a wreck....I fear my "high kick" and "spinning" days are over. In ONE day I was still nursing a bad shoulder (from MONTHS ago), my neck was stuck in one position from sleeping on it funny, AND I went to lift D-Man up into a stool at the counter and pulled my back so bad it literally took me to my knees where I immediately started sweating and felt nauseous! Yes, I was walking around for a few days with a limp and swagger resembling some cross between the Swamp Thing, Frankenstein, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. (I must have some Disney reference, right?)

So no fears disboard friends, no one is in danger. :rotfl:

Ick! I've been there before! :sad2: Lower back pain is a beast! (I hope you're feeling better by now...)

Suz,

It's nice to hear from you! We look forward to the day when you'll be able to frequent the Boards more regularly. (I'm certain you do, too, if for no other reason that it signals a return to "normalcy"...)

I'm so sorry for your loss. What a wild ride this year has been for you and your family!! :sad2:

I'm happy to hear, though, that you're anticipating an upcoming trip to Disney World (and with "Balloon Guy" to boot!). ...Hang in there!

Isn't the 27th when madbrad will be there? That weekend also features the last night of Pleasure Island and an event sponsored by WDW Celebrations, a super cool group of folks. You're there for a great weekend, and what fun to have a trip with friends!

Yep! It's supposed to be a pretty cool weekend to be at the World. (Of course, what weekend isn't? ;) But, I think you know what I mean...) I'm definitely looking forward to it!

Hey, madbrad: Is it true you'll still be onsite then? It's going to be a whirlwind, quickie trip for me, but -- if time permits -- we definitely should plan to cross paths! :thumbsup2

Edited to Add: Lou Mongello and some folks from the DisneyWorldTrivia.com forums are planning a meet at DAK's Flame Tree Barbeque. It's scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, at 12:30 p.m. I think I'm going to try to attend.

Mrs. Fleagle and I found each other!!! I know my presence has been rather light over here, but I have been trying to keep up on my FB page. If you guys want to add me, look me up under Carrie Kiger

Welcome back, KigerKat! :wave2: 'Good to hear from you!

My sixteen-year-old cousin was trying to talk me into joining Facebook. (It's definitely on my "to do" list.) 'Sounds like I'll already know some people once I get around to it...

Oh WOW! So nice to see Minnie again....and I can't believe she's still wearing the "bling" from our dance recital. You know, it's ok to be de-dazzled! :rotfl:
(Seriously, the little gems were only taped on so feel free to pull them off!)

Hope you have a wonderful trip! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I love the bling! I was happy when she arrived still bejeweled.

But the gems are soooo sparkly! ::yes:: (Here's another vote that the bling-bling stays! :thumbsup2 )
