The Adventurosity Club

Marshay - It's good to hear that you and the baby are doing good! Thanks for keeping us updated.

HMF - Congrats on the news about your mother-in-law! I hope everything continues to go well with her treatment.

Mrs.F - I joined Facebook too. I have found a lot of my High School & Disney friends there. The bad thing is I can't access Facebook from work. :headache: By the time I get home, I can't seem to find the time to get on the computer. When I am able to log on, I have a hard time getting my DISNEY fix. :goodvibes

Well, you just tell me who I need to talk to at your work about fixing this problem! You MUST have access to facebook...just think about all the business benefits of networking! Right? ;)

Hiya son......and what's shaking is anything that isn't strapped in! ha ha :rotfl:

Seriously though, thanks for the update on your Mother-in-law. I've been thinking about you all! Sounds like wonderful news and we'll keep hoping for the "all clear" signs from the docs.

By the way......because of Mr. CMO, Justin, a few of us DisBoarders have joined Facebook.com and it is WONDERFUL! I have found so many old friends from performing days...and high school...and of course my Disney friends.
Anyhoo, I came across this gift you can send to friends on facebook and it says, "Shenanigans!" How funny. I laughed and laughed and laughed! You were on my mind today son, and if you join facebook (it's free) then I'll send you "Shenanigans surprise!"

Have a wonderful day!

Love,
Mom
Yay for Shenanigans!!!!!! I will need to check this FaceBook thing out also.

So.... school update also. I've changed my major! After a long heart to heart with my mother a few weeks ago (she had been a nurse for years and now has moved into an administration role) she told me that I would make a wonderful nurse, my patients would love me and I would have the best bedside manner.... but with her knowing my personality she said that I wouldn't enjoy actually being a nurse. It was a great chat filled with some tears, advice, huge, and positives all around. With that said.... I've always wanted to open my own coffee shop. A funky place where local artists can sell their crafts, where locals hang their cup on the wall, where the coffee flavors aren't just Dunkin/Starbucks flavors..... so now I'm majoring in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing & Entrepreneurship. Phew.... so there ya have it..... that is the excitement that has been going on with me for the past few weeks.

Well, this is good news -- you'll help "nurse" other people's drinks!!:lmao:

Seriously, that sounds like a great venture -- time consuming, rewarding, fun, stressful, etc. What's cool is that you are going to school and have an idea about what you want to do. This obviously will help you in your studies and guide you into what you need to learn.

When I went to college, right after hs, I didn't know what I wanted to do...had several majors, took a bunch of different classes but even after graduating I never really 'saw the light' into one clear path. I always envied those folks who knew what they wanted to do.

Now, in retrospect, I understand I was to become a mother -- I never would have guessed that before. I love it and once kids go to school and/or move on, I'll have the joy to decide what I really want to do when I grow up!

Thanks Mrs.F., I wish you could call them for me. It would be nice to able to communicate with my friends while I'm at work (even though I'm only suppossed to use the internet for OFFICIAL business). Obviously they don't know what OFFICIAL business really is.:lmao:

I would like to wish you lots of luck in whatever you decide to do! My wife went thru a similar ordeal. She had worked in the lab at a hospital for about 10 years when she decided she wanted to become a nurse. She liked all of the classes and labs up to the point when she had to do her clinicals. Needless to say, she lasted only a couple of more weeks. She just couldn't picture emptying bed pans as a desirable carrer. That was about 6 years ago. Guess where she works at now ... a doctor's office. She doesn't have a title but she basically works as a nurses assistant. She loves it. Even the other day she was talking about going back to nursing school.

Great news about your M-I-L!!!
Congratulations on your happy revelation and switch of plans. It sounds like you have a fantastic dream. I get back to Boston from time to time (I went to vet school at Tufts) so will look forward to visiting your establishment when you dream comes true!

So, um, any chance that one of your first "signature" coffees could be something along the lines of, let's just say for instance, Vanilla Caramel? :surfweb:

Let me know when you're up and running....maybe I'll make a special appearance. And then you could put an autographed picture of me up in the coffee shop like I was famous or something! :thumbsup2

I remember some previous "appearances"! :rolleyes1 There might not be room amongst the tables and chairs though for any spinning this time! :teeth:

OMG!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was just thinking ... which picture would it be?? The one that (FTC or was it MadBrad? sorry I forget who) had of you in Wonder Woman costume?

That was classic!:goodvibes :lmao:

HMF, good luck with your new endeavor!

I have been thinking about whether I want to be in the Accounting/Finance field all my life...
And I'm not sure I do. :confused3

I almost wish I'd gone for nursing. Or teaching. The main reason I didn't go for teaching was because of the pay. But at least I'd be able to evacuate with my husband to where I wanted to go if I were a teacher.
Now there's a possibility I may get sent to Little Rock, Arkansas for work due to Gustav! :headache:

I can't say what I *REALLY* want to say here because I'd probably be banned. :rotfl:

Oh dear......we REALLY don't need to bring that picture back out! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Actually, the other day I was a wreck....I fear my "high kick" and "spinning" days are over. In ONE day I was still nursing a bad shoulder (from MONTHS ago), my neck was stuck in one position from sleeping on it funny, AND I went to lift D-Man up into a stool at the counter and pulled my back so bad it literally took me to my knees where I immediately started sweating and felt nauseous! Yes, I was walking around for a few days with a limp and swagger resembling some cross between the Swamp Thing, Frankenstein, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. (I must have some Disney reference, right?)

So no fears disboard friends, no one is in danger. :rotfl:

The danger was fleeting...actually what I remember most was all the laughing!!! Keep smiling, but most of all, keep laughing! :goodvibes

Hello my dear virtual friends!

First, let me say how much I miss all of you and hope that I will be visiting with you a bit more very soon. We have finally landed in West Virginia and we're amidst boxes, boxes, boxes. We sold so much of our furniture and storage things (plus we had a lot of built ins) so we have the need to go to IKEA in Pittsburgh to make some purchases today.

Marshay, I have been so anxious to know if you are expecting. I didn't want to ask in case it was a difficult subject but when I logged on and saw your "baby time line" my heart jumped for joy! I'm so very excited and happy for you.

Everyone else, I have not had any time to read and catch up so if I've missed anything super duper important, fun, or exciting will someone let me know?

Here is a quick update. The movers loaded on July 9-10 and delivered everything on July 15th. Jeff and I stayed here a few days to tie up some loose ends and unpack just a very few things. Then we drove back to Indiana on July 18th and flew out to Phoenix to be with my family and help with my Mom. Jeff and Bobbie came back to Indiana on the 29th and Katie and I stayed in Phoenix. We were supposed to stay 3 weeks and come back on the 9th. On the 8th, my mom woke up feeling awful. We took her to the doctor's office and he thought she should probably be admitted to the hospital. Very long ordeal made short, she ended up in the ER and at the wrong hospital due to an ambulance driver who was incredibly idiotic. She was there for about 6 hours. After about 5 hours she had a grand mal seizure as I was holding her hand. Things continued downhill from there. They finally got her moved to the correct hospital and she had 3 more grand mal seizures for a total of 4 in 3.5 hours. The doctor suspected that the cancer had spread to her brain. My sister, Dad and I made the decision to move mom to an in-patient hospice on Saturday the 9th. Mom passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 13th. It's been hard in so many ways, but I've had such a revelation about personal suffering (not mine, but my mother's). It's given me great peace.

We then flew back to Indiana to get our van and the dogs and landed here in Morgantown on the 23rd. Katie started middle school on the 26th and my in-laws came that same day for a house hunting trip. I love them and I'm so glad they are here, but we're in a real mess and I'm not the best hostess right now.

As always, I apologize that my few and far between posts are all about me. It won't always be that way, I promise. Know that I think of you often and WILL be back as a permanent member of our fun family!

Love to you all....

Suz

P.S. In mid July we booked a January trip to Disney for 7 nights followed by a 3 day Disney cruise (we're going with Balloon Guy and his family). This was of course before my mom passed away and now I really feel like this family time will be much needed.
