Left Albuquerque to drive to El Paso on 6/2 after DS finished gymnastics. Stayed at Holiday Inn - very nice. DH and DS left at 7 a.m. on 6/3. DD and I were going to swim all day before getting shuttle to Amtrak. Pool was "buggy" so decided to go to mall. Before leaving I called Amtrak to check on train.
When I reached Amtrak I was told there was a "disruption". Finally they came back on and said there had been a minor earthquake in CA and they held our train for CA passengers, so they would be BUSSING us from El Paso , TX all the way to Orlando - and it would only take an extra day. NOT!!!!! They weren't going to tell the passengers, just have the bus waiting when we got to the station.
So, MAJOR change of plans. Cancelled one way of train and got the last 2 seats on Southwest out of El Paso. Ran to mall to buy another suitcase to combine ours so we had max. number allowed. Repacked, took shuttle to airport. Smooth flight with short stop in Houston. Arrived Orlando 12:10 a.m. Sister and 2 nieces picked us up and took us to Lakeland to Sister's house - arrived 2:30 a.m.
Friday 6/3 DD went with niece(30) who is a teacher for her last day of school and we lounged.
Saturday 6/4, Niece(30) and boyfriend drove us to Orlando. 2 rooms on Executive level at Holiday Inn Select Airport. Checked in, went to Downtown Disney shopping. Niece's Boyfriend had wallet lifted, so went back to hotel. Swam, ate. DH and DS arrived via Southwest at 12:05 a.m. Shuttle to hotel - arrived at 12:30 a.m.
Next.....check in at HRH.
