I am quite happy with the top 12. I thought Ms. Danny would beat out SoCheesy but I'm ok either way. Oh and how much did I LOVE when Ryan told David Cook that Lionel Richie loved his version of Hello?!

See here's the problem - Kristy is not a good singer!

BTW, country music?

My completely biased and yet still strangely correct assessments of the top 12 ;) :

Amanda - Or "skunk-girl" as she's known around our house. Really the only "one trick pony" in the competition. Sounded great singing Pat Benatar, but can't really sing much of anything else.

Brooke - Really wanted to not like her, 'cause of the "Miss Goody Two Shoes" thing, but she flat blew me away with her performance the last couple weeks. She's a dark horse to win the whole flippin' thing (to paraphrase Tom Berringer in "Major League").

Carly - She's good. REALLY good. And she's married to a demon, so she's got that goin' for her, which is nice.

Chikeze - He's starting to grow on me a bit, but I may have to see my doctor and have him removed before too long. Just too many other talented people on this season.

David C. - Again, maybe it was just the way he changed up the song - like Brooke did with Battlefield - but the way he sang a flippin' LIONEL RITCHIE song - that I once hit the radio "scan" button so hard to get away from that I broke a finger - in a way that made me like it...he's dangerous, this guy.

David A. - This year's winner definitely has a lot of talent, but I think the "Aw, shucks" routine - while I honestly believe it's genuine - is gonna get old after a while. But singing "Imagine" the way he did...if I was voting, he'd get at least a vote a week from me, just for that.

David H. - Stripper boy is just full of surprises. I would have put him in the top 12 based solely on his "Papa was a rollin' stone" performance from last week. Still, he's probably a bit outclassed in this particular field.

Jason C. - Dreadi-locks sang on of my top 5 favorite songs this week, and he didn't butcher it despite the difficulty of the song, though it was a mostly technical performance (that's one of those songs you don't have to sing well, just sing with feeling).

KLC - She could easily have turned into another Carrie Underwood, which is one reason I suspect Robin hates her. ;) Loved, loved, loved her performance this week. Sadly, she won't be around long enough to see what she could have grown into.

Michael Lee - I've grown less impressed with him since around Hollywood week. He's not a bad singer, at all. But he's not at the level some of these people are. Let's face it...if he looked like Goatboy, he would be gone by now.

Ramielle - Not bad, but...well... :confused3

Syesha - This year's "great singer...wouldn't buy her album in a million years" for me. Sounds just like...just about everyone else in that genre of music. That's not really a bad thing, and the girl can definitely sing, but...I just end up unimpressed with her.

OVERALL TOP 12 - I have to say, I was prepared to blast the show for all the "best top 20 ever" crap that they'd been pushing, but I have to admit that they've got a point. In my opinion, a full 5 or 6 of these people could have beaten a couple of the former winners. I'm really looking forward to this season, but I'm almost dreading the elimination nights, as it's pretty much guaranteed after the first couple weeks that somebody really good is going to be going home. Granted, it's a different vibe than rooting for them to finally kick off the one or two that don't fit, but I think it's every bit as enjoyable. If we keep getting knock-out performances at the rate we have the last couple weeks - at least two or three "wow" moments in each - then this could actually turn out to be my favorite season ever.

And no goatboy or Jasmine or Sanjaya in sight! What will the jerks like Stern and the VFTW crowd do to get their kicks now?

I still want to know why Amanda is considered a one-trick pony and no one else is? Everything most of the rest of the contestants sing sound the same too. What make what she does any different then that? She is just so different from the others that it makes it seem that way I think.

Brooke, KLC, Rammille and company have ALL sounded the same each week.

Carly and David A are the only ones left that I think are not one-trick pony's.

She is obviously pretty good or she wouldnt still be there....HHHHMMMMM

How good was Sanjaya?

Actually I have. I love OLD country...Cash, Merle, George Jones, Hank, that's the stuff I grew up on. Today's country sounds nothing like that. It's all pop and twang.

Because she is completely incapable of singing anything but Pat Benatar? :confused3 Really good singers can sing just about anything, though they all have their particular niches that they usually fall into. Take Carrie Underwood...she's fantastic singing country, but she sounded good singing just about anything.

Other than Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, and Joan Jett...what can Amanda sing? I mean...if they have a "standards" night? Beatles night? Barry-friggin'-Manilow night? She just can't do it. The rest of them can at least sound credible at the different genres. She has 1.

Dan, Dan... do you think that AI actually USES these votes? Nigel and the PTB have final decision on who goes thru, NOT America. They have their picks set already.
There is no true measure of these votes so I won't believe it until they prove it. AI is a money making machine and it lives by it's own rules. They know that country is popular and they needed those ratings.
You probably stop kids in the street and tell them there's no Santa Claus too. pirate:

I tried to explain this to my wife last night but she wasn't hearing it. I guess we'll have to leave out cookies and milk again this year.

Oh yeah...so what happened to the all-powerful VFTW folsk? With Danny out I suppose the new frontrunner is Amanda for them.

So what do I think of the Top 12? Well number one, depending on who the first two to ge the boot are, I MAY actually go to the concert this year! So otherwise:

Amanda: She can't sing. She can growl, and she can yell and brood. I think she would've made a good contestant on "Rock Star: Supernova". She'll get canned after the first time she has to sing something that isn't "bluesy-rock" to coin Randy. Also, she is a joyless person. She is horribly uncomfortable with the AI pomp and circumstance and even moreso with the Pop music influence around her. I think she'll make it a few rounds though.

Brooke: She's good but she's vanilla. Still, I think she stands a heckuva good chance of going to the end. My problem is that while she can sing and emote and is GOOD at it, she just isn't interesting...at least to me.

Carly: My personal favorite of the girls. She has a discernible style! She has an amazing voice with tremendous power and range and versatility. She's gorgeous but not ina typical Barbie way.

Chikeze: He did redeem himself after that initial lousy performance, but he doesn't have "it" to go very far in the competition. I'm still interested in seeing a bit more from him, but I don't know if he'll make it past round one or two.

David Cook: Yup...my underwear are still MIA. I don't care if he wins or not, cause like my man Chris Daughtry, THIS guy has a bright future knocking ladies unmentionables off with his music! Hello was one of the best performances I've seen on the show EVER. I hop he makes it to the 10 mark so I can convince DH to get me concert tix for my birthday.

David Archuletta: Ding Ding Ding...we have a winner folks. I will be dipped in goo if this cutie pie with the golden pipes doesn't sing "Dream Come True" or whatever they name the lame-o power ballad they cook up for the finale song. He's got it all...including the mom vote (he's wholesome) and the teen girl vote (he looks like Zac Effron).

David Hernandez: Unless he strips on-stage while singing in the competition, I don't think it'll hurt him too bad. He can sing, but he certainly isn't a threat to any of the more memorable guys/gals. He'll be on the tour I think.

Jason: DH wants him to cut his dreads (I bet they do smell), but it would be like when Sampson let Delilah cut his hair...big no-no. This kid has soul (not Motown soul, but A soul). I believe every word he sings and look forward to seeing him on tour and hearing his music after this is all over. He won't win, but he doesn't need to.

Kristy-Lee: I'm still peeved about her selling her horse, but I'm gonna let it go since she said she wants to win so the first thing she can do is buy it back. Redemption! She can sing really well and is this year's Country contestant. She isn't as good as Carrie Underwood so she won't win, but she'll be around long enough.

Michael: He's slipping in my book a bit because his "Don't You Forget About Me" LOOKED a lot like he was trying to chanel Jim Morrison. However, he can sing, he easy on the eyes and he's mostly enjoyable to watch. I'm keeping an eye on him...

Ramielle: She's adorable but vocally forgettable. May be among the first to get cut.

Syesha: I SWEAR she's been in this competition before. She can sing, she's pretty, but she's too familiar. She'll last long enough to go on tour.

No, I STILL believe in Santa Claus!! :cloud9:

I guess I'm just so jaded after being in this God forsaken business for so long. This show and Dancing With the Stars are soooooooooooooo completely decided and created by the Powers that Be, it's entertainment and marketing while dragging the "voting" public along.

They know just when to eliminate people and WHEN, they know just how to keep the balance of the competitors consistent, they know how to roll in the most advertising money as possible. They always pull in a teen heart throb, a diva, a rocker, a country person, one truly unique person, a couple of teenaged phenoms and a looker to keep the guys watching. That pulls in everyone from elementary school to the senior citizens home. It's smart marketing, VERY smart marketing.

And the voting? Heck, who knows how it's monitored. I don't even trust the Presidential elections much less a voting system that the results are skewed by the producers! :sad2:

I agree that the producers skew the show. The minute I saw the video of David A. singing to the first idols, I told DH I bet the producers marked that kid that day and pulled him in the minute he was old enough to try out for AI. It's not really a "random" try-out. That kid was raised by his parents and probably groomed by AI producers for this year.

i'm ready for that Ramielle to go just so I don't have to watch her cry another week! Get a grip!

Thank god Danny N is gone :cheer2:

what a jerk

he had his 15 miutes of fame and now is gone :happytv:

sure the youtube video really hurt him this week :surfweb:

bye bye bye :thumbsup2

Probably havent even given it a chance have you...If not then dont put it down....

There are some people who actually have listened to country music and disliked it... immensely. Not all types of music are for everyone.
:confused3 So, since I've given it a chance, can I now put it down? ;)

Same with Jordin. As much as I liked her she was a plant, also. She knew all the judges WAY before she auditioned.
