MLB Showdown cards were the biggest thing among the boys in our neighborhood last summer (just after the WWE).

And just yesterday, one of the boys on our street bought his first booster set of the year. Of course, my son is aching to go to the card shop and get his. I'm going to put him off as long as I can because those cards are addictive to him. Once he starts buying them, he won't want to stop.

JJ I think the CVS flyer had something about cards on sale. Don't know if those are the exact ones you are interested in. I believe 3 for $2.

I'll check the CVS ad for sure, Kallison, but that price sounds too good to be true for current year Showdown cards.

They go for $3.50 a booster pack at the local trading card shop or 3 packs for $10. At a collectibles shop in the mall, we can buy them for $2.99 per pack.

The Showdown cards have a board game with a 20-sided dice. To play the game, you select your team using the cards you have collected. Obviously, the better the cards you have collected, the better you will play the game.

That sounds cute -- glad my 11 year old hasn't heard of it yet :p . Pulled out the flyer, they are Topps Opening Day Baseball Cards - 3 for $2.
