Thats why I HATE WDW resort pools!!!

Wow. I thought this was a place people could talk about the good and not-so-good of WDW. I apologize for saying I "hate" the pools, didn't mean to hurt anyone's magic feelings. Members here discuss everything from what color socks to wear at WDW to should someone have ketchup on a hot dog or not, but leave it to me to touch a nerve about my dislike of the pool temp. I'll be sure to keep my comments to positive things only from now on.

I think 82 is a reasonable temperature. We used to heat our backyard pool to 80 and it was quite cool.

However...

I find it quite ironic that you felt comfortable posting something critical (which is perfectly fine, there are lots of things that can be criticized about WDW) but you can't take it when other posters are critical of your post? Don't dish it out if you can't take it. No one is being rude, everyone is simply expressing opinions on a topic you brought up.

One of the things on these boards that really gets my goat is the attitude of people. There is so much 'well, if you had said it this way, you would have gotten better responses' that it makes it hard to post. Everyone is so quick to judge!! Man, chill out a bit guys. People are so quick to jump on someone for the way they 'put' something. Some of the responses here are almost worse than the original post!!

Glad you got that out of your system. But if you had phrased it this way.....:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I will say this. Do not come on here and use the word hate in relation to WDW. The mere fact that we are all on here is a testament to the fact that we LOVE WDW. And due to that we will viggorously defend its honor. I would personally pick something a little less subjective to make a statement about Disney's policies ..etc

We have stayed at a couple different WDW resorts the past couple of summer and I hate the pools. Reason being is the water is so warm that it feels like swimming in bath water, not to mention its perfect temp to breed all types of organisms. Well, we are staying at POR this Aug and I found this statement on the portorleans.org website reference pools; "Pool Temperature: 82 degrees (standard at all Walt Disney World Resorts)". Are you kidding me?!?!? WDW keeps all their pools at 82 degrees??? It's 100 degrees outside everyday, why do they need to keep the pools at 82 degrees? I want nice cool water, not warm. Anyway, I'm off my soapbox. Peace.

I agree! I would not swim at all in August because the water was as clammy as the air. Now in December, I didn't mind as much.

I sort of agree with the OP. After a hot day at say the parks...when you enter the pool you want that "aaaaaaahhhhhhh" feeling. But then on the other hand you don't want to freeze to death either.

The water in the pool at our local park...now that water is cold when you first enter but after awhile your body gets use to it.

If you want that ahhhh feeling, shower before you enter the pool. Use cold water. Then you will be glad the pool isn't freezing. :)

Hate is a natural human emotion. I hate lots about WDW...THE HIGH PRICES...THE WILTING HEAT PLUS HUMIDITY...WHEN THEY CANCEL FANTASMIC AFTER YOU BOUGHT ONE of THOSE EAT AT THE BROWN DERBY AND THEN SIT ON A FLAT STEEL BENCH IN THE DRIZZLE FOR AN HOUR AHEAD OF THE SHOW...WHEN I BOARD A DISNEY BUS. yes those are all CAPS if ya didn't notice. Hate is a Donald Duck thingy. I hate I hate I hate Peter Pan was a HOOK line. I hate it when someone tells me I can't say hate on DIS. All the things I hate about WDW does NOT at all keep me from spending way too much money, schedule FANTASMIC, brave the weather and pool temperatures and board a bus every chance I can get. I hate it when I can't get to WDW again! Now bring on the strong reactions. Fun ain't it? Aw I just kicked my dog. The stuffed one the stuffed one! Anybody hate RACK RATES?

We set our pool temp at 86 degrees and my kids complain it's too cold if it's just a couple degrees cooler. Like pp, to each his own. :goodvibes

Just not heating them during the summer months would be nice.

As its 100 many days during the summer they are likely to be cooling them, to 82..not heating them!:)

AKK

In the warmer summer months, I somehow doubt that Disney is able to refrigerate the pool water to your preferred level of coolness. With the ambient temps and relative humidity so consistently high in the summer, it would take some kind of very expensive Disney magic to keep the pools from warming up.

I thought the pools were only heated to 80º? But I'm with you, the pool water is too hot in the summer. I bet the pool water gets warmer than that just because of the air temps.

The sun and the high summer temps make it hard to cool the pool down. We have a pool in our back yard and last year when we were having some really hot streaks our pool easily hit 90 degrees and it wasn't refreshing anymore. The only thing I could do is drain some water out every night and put some fresh cold water in and it took several days of doing this to get the temp to drop. Oh and I do not have a heater for my pool it is all heated by natural sunlight. Some things are just out of people's control. I'm sure they could add some coolers and while filtering the water it could filter through there but I'm sure that would be quite pricey.

IMO a warm pool is better than no pool!!!

In response, I'll say that we have a pool in OHIO. NE Ohio, to be precise. So, far we haven't opened it, the weather has been crap. Last June it was almost 100 at this time, but we've been inundated with storms. We don't use a heater, only a solar cover. Mid July, the solar cover isn't needed in a normal summer. It runs around 85-90. When it gets close to 90, it's like taking a bath, not as refreshing.

It would've never dawned on me that Disney heats their pools past June. Obviously, being from the North, we went swimming in December (it was heated, yes) but we thought the weather was beautiful. Heck, I wear shorts when it hits 60. Everyone is different.

I will allege that the quantities of water needed to cool the pools in the equatorial heat of Florida summers would not be cost effective, but I get that it can be icky to swim in. There's enough chlorine to kill a cat, so I wouldn't worry about the germ issue...hot tubs, that's another story! :)

People vent, that's life. There's way worse venting going on this board than this thread...check out line cutting, kids too big for strollers, etc...:eek:

Peace!

Never reall had the problem of pool water being to hot,the last 3 summers we stayed at beach club Villas, Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Grand Floridian, water was not warm at any of them.
