Im on it but the wife and kids are waitlisted!!

no, it's not just you. I only got myself on as the lead person, then had to waitlist everyone else!! I can't believe it!!

6 PM PDT came quickly and it took a few moments to figure out the format. I had 6 to register and screwed up the first two (I'm lead AND a guest?). By the time I got done, most were waitlisted, and I'm not sure what happened to me. I hope that "the powers that be" can put together a list of some sort to see who is really able to attend.

I also hope that ther DIS can sort out who really will be at WDW on that date. We are registered for Mousefest and are DVC owners staying at OKW who made reservations in March.

But we all know there will be people that will. this is how these things go get over it and take what you get. Be happy you get the spaces you get and that they are nice enough not to charge us to go to this wonderfull event.

Just want to jump in and make a small point...I don't think anyone is whining. I think they are more concerned with the fact that one person in the group got in but the rest of the family got waitlised. I can't imagine how each family would deal with that...mom gets to go, but the rest of you stay away?
Hopefully there will be a good resolution to this issue. It would appear that when people had to put in 'guests' there was an issue, and the guests ended up on the waitlist. I don't see a lot of folks who were single sign-ups that had an issue.
Just a thought.

I was able to sign two up without an issue - linked with the same lead and DW as my guest. It sounds like maybe I got lucky in that regard, as many people were either confused or had difficulty. That said - John has already said that they are looking to sort things out -i believe his reference was "we aren't looking to split up families. This ain't the titanic". They already said that the guestlist was to help hash out spots and to help determine how many they can fit. This is a free event and quite a generous gesture by the DIS crew. I don't think anyone should criticize the process. It will all work out in the end.

As John posted on another thread just because you are on the wait list doesn't mean that you will not get in. I think a few people will state including myself that if it came to getting more people in I would be more then willing to pay to get this chance. John and Kevin have both said that to do something like this on such a scale as they have it is just not realistically possible to allow 700 people, a lot of which did not book through dreams and so did not bring in the revenue for them, to attend. we are talking economics here.

I wouldn't have an issue with paying $20-30 a head for admission. Not for groups that booked through DU of course (which I did not).

Disney may have an issue with charging admission tho.

Ahhh yes, the teams generosity is unparalleled.
But it wont be much fun riding alone while my wife and kids stand outside and wave.
Which, by the way, would not happen.
If Momma aint happy, nobody's happy!
And living in Florida would be another bonus, no plane fare, no room costs, back home for dinner, etc.
To some of us this is a big deal, not just a "Well guess I'll whip over to the Studios and take a few rides".

Not Whining, just concerned.

I have no idea about MF charges. We are only planning on doing the DIS meet up, since this is our home base.

A small charge to recoup expenses would not be unreasonable for a exclusive fan oriented meet and great tho.

Well....... at least DH and I made it to the waitlist. Whatever happens now who knows. I will not pout, cry or whine if we don't make it to the party list. No matter what - we'll still be at Disney having a wonderful vacation together and enjoying the Chirstmas festivities

I certainly appreciate that some of you are willing to pay to offset the costs of this event. This is something we discussed early on but decided against it. Not only would the cost per person be more than we would be comfortable asking - we truly want to do this as a 'thank you' to our listeners, DIS Boards members and DU clients.

We budgeted the cost based on a certain number of attendees. When we saw that this number was well below those that wanted to attend we put in place a plan to increase that number. The whole reason behing taking a waitlist was to see what the final numbers would look like so we had a goal.

Now that we have that number and see the scope we are moving forward with a plan to include as many of the folks on the waitlist as possible.

As of right now the waitlist is closed.

We want to be able to try to accommodate as many of those of you who signed up for the waitlist as possible so we don't want to take in any more on the waitlist and possibly disappoint people.

As I mentioned - we are working on a way to get as many people from the waitlist into the event as possible.

Have faith.

Once we are able to move as many people from the waitlist to the confirmed list we will send out emails letting everyone know they are signed up.

I also want to again mention that we understand that families would like to attend together and we will work hard to make that happen. It is not our intent or goal to leave anyone out of this event - and especially not 'break-up' a family.

It is going to take some time to work out our plan to get folks off the waitlist and into the event so please be patient - I know it's hard to wait but by giving us the time we need to make this work the more people we will be able to accommodate.
