That special place...

I'm with Leota on the canal. Just passing through it, and looking below and seeing ...a highway!!!! True Disney! Also, there's a park bench with my name on it in the MK over near the Crystal Palace on the way to Adventureland. My favorite spot, and here's why: a few years ago I was sitting on that bench and admiring the begonias in the fenced in bed beside me. The very next morning, the begonias were gone, and tulips were there in their place! Overnight, a crew had completely revamped that area. Everytime I go by that bench, I think of the magic at work that we never think of.

Walking into EPCOT and hearing the music and SE for the 1st time on the trip does it for me :goodvibes

Tinkerbelle--I am new to the boards--and WDW as well--our 2nd trip is coming up May 20--I'll just miss you. I never knew that I would fall in love with that place--until we walked under that train station. It was all over for me! And I know what you mean about these boards--they are so great to share feelings and thoughts.

I'm so sorry for your loss--I can't imagine. But you must enjoy yourself when you go--you know that she wants you to--and with so much magic all around you, you're sure to feel her there with you.

My DD will be sure and bless your aunt tonight when she says her prayers--I'll tell her about the almost 20 year old that still loves MK....

My special place is the Dumbo statue in the hub. Any time we are in the Magic Kingdom I have to take a moment and see Dumbo. :flower:

I have two. The very first time on the monorail, when we pulled into the Contemporary. I was 12, and blown away.I still am. Second, the castle. It still sends a chill down my spine! Guess that's why they call, "A Magical Place"........ :wizard:

i'm so sorry for your loss. i'm sure that you and your family treasure every moment that you can spend together, and your upcoming trip to WDW will be no exception. have a wonderful time and be sure to let us know all about it :earsgirl:

Our first trip was last March, a really magical part for me was waiting for the Magic Kingdom to open and the CM comes out and says it's time to open the park and they do the whole song and dance thing and the train comes in with Mickey Mouse, it's like WOW - - we really are finally here.

well my favorite place was and always will be the lands. We used to go there everytime we were in epcot for lunch and would eat at the sunshine season food fair. then me and my brother and sister would run and do food rocks. twice. lol. then when we got back to our table my mom would have nestle cookies waiting for us. it seriously depresses me that food rocks is no more and that they are redoing the food court. I ahve many great memories there.

I'm sure I have *many* little special places (and a few places that hold some memories that I wish I could get rid off...but that's a whole 'nother thread!), but one place immediately popped into my head as I was reading everyone's responses: The Frontierland Shooting Gallery! Yep, something that probably gets overlooked by the majority of people. Everytime I get a glance at the Gallery, I'm transported back to my very first WDW visit at the age of 11. My dad who isn't really a WDW lover was the first person to show me the benefits of "stopping and smelling the roses" at Disney World...showed me how to hold that gun and cheered me on as I *pinged* my way through the graveyard! :) A very special *little* memory that only I have!

Thanks for the memories!

For me, it's the Crystal Palace. I ate there with my family on my very first trip to WDW in 1973, and I still remember seeing characters (I think from 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks') walking across the little bridge to Adventureland. As an adult, I've made it a tradition to eat breakfast there on my first Magic Kingdom day before the park opens -- I love the feeling of being one of the first ones in the park!

One of the places that always brings a smile to my face is kind of a weird spot.

There is a door to the left of Pirates of the Caribbean. It is a door that leads backstage. Well, that door is where I first entered the Magic Kingdom on my first time there. I was with my high school band and we were brought in backstage since we would be performing later in the day. When I walked through that door I was officially at the Magic Kingdom and so happy! I always smile when I walk past there now. :sunny:

My grandparents took me to MK when I was visiting them in Florida (I am from Mass). Anyhow, we were leaving MK, to go to the parking lot via the boat, and we saw the fireworks over the castle as we were crossing the lagoon. It was unbelievably magical, and well just pure luck! This was in 1986 and I was 14. I have never seen it that way since and neither have they. ::MickeyMo
