Disney World is special in one way or another to every one of us. But is there one specific place for you in the World that really sticks out and brings back a great feeling? Just something small. Or something big. For me it's, well, WDW Veterans will know what I'm talking about because this really isn't something that sticks out. In Epcot when going to Innovations East or West, right before emerging from the "overpass" or the roof that connects the restaurants and stores together, there are those areas with either benches or pay phones to the right (or left I think). It's kind of a bad description but hopefully you know what I'm talking about... anyway, I was there with my family (mom, dad, and sister) and I remember using the payphone where you had to use a credit card to pay for your call. We had trouble with it but we just kind of worked it out and laughed about it. I know, I know, it's sort of an odd thing to really cherish, but it's just one of those memories that I'll always have of us all together and happy. Whenever I pass that area I think of it and it brings a smile to my face. But that's enough of me... what about you guys? Some secret little alcove you have? Or a "special bench" you had a good laugh at with your family or friends? Feel free to share any experiences! :)

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but walking around the corner and getting my first glimpse of the Castle is always a very special moment to me...I puddle up a little every time.

Also there is a bench on a pathway out of Fantasyland that leads to Liberty Square that I love to sit on and watch the people go by.

Festival of the Lion King is always special to me.

The moment where I know I am at WDW, is walking into MK and seeing the castle regardless of the contruction going on.

The ferry ride to magic kingdom brings back the most memories to me. It reminds me of all my trips as a kid when I thought traveling to a Magic Kingdom with a castle by ferry was so magical. I still do. :goodvibes

Two places.........

the first is the place I was when I saw my very FIRST parade at MK...across the street from Liberty tree tavern....brings back memories every time. I can still remember that special shiver when I got a glimpse of Mickey in his snowglobe.........

The second has to be Main street USa leading all the way to that wonderful castle....ahhhhhhhhhhh :cloud9:

My very first ride ever in WDW:::::the cinderella caroussel it'll always have a special place in my heart.

Oh did I mention the very first characters we met too? that would be Alice and the mad hatter :earboy2:

I think I'm getting a little carried away here

I could go on forever with a bunch of '' first time memories" but I'll stop now.

well, the Haunted Mansion is one of my all time favorite places to be, and during one of my visits, my friend and i stopped at this courtyard thing at Epcot in the England exhibit. There was a 60s Invasion concert going on and people were singing along and dancing to the music. That was a whole lot of fun..but for very special...

the first time my husband and i walked onto Main Street USA in Sept. 2001, the park had just opened, the sky was bright blue with all these pretty white clouds, Cinderella's Castle was sparkling in the distance and that happy old time music was playing. i can't begin to do justice in describing the happy feeling that went all through me. it was the first time my husband had been to WDW and even though he's not as crazy about it as i am, he was having a great time too.

we had the best week and then came home late on Sept. 10, 2001--and of course, the next day, the world changed.

so, i keep thinking of that feeling walking down Main Street USA and how wonderful it was--so i guess, thats my special place right now. at least until i get back to WDW again (and i'm hoping to do that in Sept. 2005) :earsgirl:

The first time of the trip that I see the castle is always magical for me. But I also love the Frontierland Shootin Arcade. Ever since I was a kid I would challenge my family to see who could shoot the most targets. It is always a fun break from the madness. :cloud9:

Mine was during my last trip. It was my DH's first trip and we spent over an hour at the shooting arcade near the Country Bear's. He kept asking me if I had more dollar bills. He had a blast shooting at everything just to hear or see what would happen. He still says the next time we go back he has to remember to take plenty of quarters or dollar bills.

Mine is also a ferry ride to MK - but from FW. At that point where you go thru the canal by the Contemporary Resort & enter Seven Seas Lagoon from Bay Lake. It gets me every time. Probably because our first 3 family trips to WDW we stayed at FW.

I don't get to take that ride anymore very often as we have been doing the Resort Circuit, but we still do a Water Mouse Regatta every trip on Seven Seas/ Bay Lake & I go thru that channel just to get that feeling....

Seeing illuminations always reminds me of the first trip I took with my now husband. It was the first time I had stayed for a fireworks show and it was such a magical surprise as we had no expectations prior to seeing it.

The second place would have to be Spaceship earth. I am always reminded of my first trip to the World in 1986 with my mom and my grandmother. I was 10! :goodvibes

As a "late thirties" adult, I just recently had my first WDW experience. (My parents always took us to Disneyland, as we had relatives in California...I'm from Kansas!) My husband and I took our 12 year old daughter and her friend and I would have to say the most special part for me was Fantasmic. I literally had tears in my eyes the whole time. And when all the characters come out at the end on the boat......I just cried. But then again breakfast at Cinderella's Round Table was AWESOME...seeing my 12 year old daughter getting very excited about all the princesses....very touching. Getting my pic with Mickey and our daughter....WOW! I'm a kid at heart and just love every minute of Disney. (I'm a 2nd grade teacher and my students will tell you I like to have fun!) We went at the end of Oct./beginning of Nov. and it was a very special, magical time for our family! Can't wait to go back! :earsgirl:

On our trips, our character meal always makes it feel like a Disney trip for me. We eat and next thing you know, Pooh, Mickey, or someone puts their arms around me! Yea! I'm really here now! :earsboy:

have to agree with you tygerlilli!

my first time was just 2 years ago--but when you first go under that train station and emerge onto main street--blue skies, castle rising before you, and that music--and the dancers on the street cars--everything clean and innocent. Maybe that is Walt's gift to us all--a beautiful magical place that cannot be changed by anything outside of the gates--so we can all believe in goodness and all be young again--even if its only while we are there.

Great memories, everyone. :goodvibes

I would have to say my favorite spot is the Tambu Lounge at the Poly. I love the atmosphere of the Poly in general and those chairs are so comfy. Just sitting there, soaking it up is perfect for me.
On the sentimental side for me, we spent the last night of our honeymoon there. We had been staying at the Poly and due to Hurricane Erin, we just stayed in for the night and had a few drinks at the Tambu Lounge. It turned out to be a nice night for us. A great way to end the trip!

Seeing the castle the first time is huge for me. I also always tear up during the Legend of the Lion King show at AK and the Little Mermaid show at MGM.

But, my favorite place at WDW is an odd one - on the walkway from YC/BC to Epcot, the path has two options at the bridge to the Boardwalk - you can take the left side of the walkway, which continues to Epcot or allows you to use the bridge to go to the Boardwalk, or you can take the right side, which takes you to a path which goes under the bridge and ultimately rejoins the walkway to Epcot on the other side of the bridge. For some reason, I just love taking that path under the bridge and walking that way to Epcot. Once you pass under the bridge on the path, there is music that is piped in, which is either French or Japanese themed and is very soothing and relaxing. It is almost as if you have entered Epcot at that moment. I love this spot and just wish there were some benches on this path upon which I could sit from time to time just to drink it all in.

A super special moment for me was in 1997..it was 2 days after my 12th birthday (which we had spent in Fort Myers with my grandparents) and we were going into MK on EE...before EE were out of hand and nuts :P Anyways, my dad filmed as my mom and i walked down Main Street....and we were the ONLY PEOPLE ON MAIN STREET! Im dead serious...we all look back on the video, as my dad zooms in to show us, near the hub, with the castle in the background, then pulls back and its us..all alone, right in the middle of main street with the sun glimmering on the spires of the castle and the music playing...i'm nearly tearing up just thinking about it.

Other special places...the front of the Pink monorail (my fav monorail since i was five and called it "Pinky" :P lol)

Innoventions Plaza, watching the fountain of nations, just wandering around.

In Animal Kingdom there is something about the line for Kali River Rapids that I find just spectacular..its incredibly detailed...the temple with the budha's in the hill...its beautiful.

My mom and I laugh that we know every washroom is existance in every Disney park..so that in its own pathetic way is special

Columbia Harbor House, we always sit way off in the section that is closest to Liberty Square..looking out over the courtyard where the stocks are

There are tons more...*sighs happily* I cannot wait until we go back in May!

Tinkerbelle -- I hope my DD (just turned 7) continues to love WDW (esp MK) as much as she does right now--and judging by you--she will!

You must made my day!

Hearing that I made your day, makes mine liveforthemagic :)

I've been going to WDW nearly every year since i was 2 (I'll be 20 in March) and it is the place that brings so much joy to my life that I can't express it in words. This upcoming trip in May..will mean a lot more to my family now. My aunt passed away this past weekend, after a long battle with Lukemia, and Disney..and these boards with wonderful people like you that I can share stories and re-live happy memories make me loved Disney and what it stands for even more. We all need magic in our lives, sometimes we needs it more than we know. Thank You :)
