Okay, the 3 free bottles of Zoya nailpolish finally arrived the other day. After reading all the wonderful reviews, I couldn't wait to try it. It was very disappointing. :sad2:
The colors are so beautiful and vibrant in the bottle but once it dried, it was flat and dull looking. :confused3 I tried the other two colors just to see if there was any difference but it had the same result. I did put a coat of clear polish over it and it helped a little but not much.
Looking at all the pictures of painted nails on their Facebook page, they don't seem flat at all. Is there some trick to using this polish-some nail prep that has to be done before applying it? Anyone else have this problem with their polish? I really wanted to love it and order more colors but now feel like the shipping cost was a waste.

DD is the only one to use one of our free polishes at this point. It was a yellow color. She said it took three coats before it was the color she wanted. Thinner than we expected. But I don't think it looks dull by any means. We'll have to try the other two out before we pass judgement, I guess.

Are you sure you didn't buy the matte polishes? These will have no shine to them. I didn't get them, but I know they sold them.

Yes, I got one of those by mistake with my three (I knew they had the matte ones, but somehow mistakenly picked one). That would be my guess - the other ones I got are very shiny.

I believe they do say that their photos are shown with 2 or 3 coats and a top coat. I read that somewhere when looking around their site, or on the color spoon samples or something.

I got Ali, Robyn, and Harmonie. Looked at the catalog and they aren't listed as the matte colors.
I'll let my girls try them and see if they get the same result. I usually use SallyHanson polish and theyre shiny and last awhile. The Zoya just seems so different.

I think Ali is the one I have that I thought was matte. I admit, I never went back to the website and looked it up, so maybe my assumption was wrong. The other 3 I have are not like that (I purchased one along with the 3 free - I got Elke, Ali, Dana and Happi).

The description for Harmonie is "Zoya Nail Polish in Harmonie can be best described as: Bright and slightly dusty looking medium lavender frost with tiny iridescent shimmer particles. A soft splash of color for all seasons."

So maybe it's 'duller' than usual.

Are you using a base and top coat?

Ali and Robyn they should be shiney.. Great color choices by the way!

I have 6 bottles of Zoya polish, I put the Julianne on my toes and yes with the first coat it was somewhat flat, after coat number 2 it was much nicer. I have Adina on my fingertips, it's nice and shiny! So far those are the only 2 I've used but I like them both very much.

Use a top coat of Seche Vite. My nail place uses Zoya polishes and finishes up with Seche Vite for a glass like top.

I have to admit my colors didn't look the same when I ordered them online to the ones I received. Still I tried them and I agree with the flat look too, but my main issue was how easily they wore off. I did a base coat, 2 coats of polish and a OPI topcoat and my polish had wore off on several fingers in two days. I almost ordered more when I got the little sample palette in the shipment, I am glad now I didnt.

Oh, well they were worth a try for the cost of shipping.

I am wearing one of my free Zoya nailpolishes now. The color I am wearing is "Edtya." It's a dark metallic army green. It took 3 coats to get to that opaqueness. The first coat did look very dull.

I have to say I am a huge OPI fan and OPI polishes last a while and don't chip as easily. The Zoya started chipping within hours. So while I was happy to get the 3 bottles for $6.95, I woudn't run out and buy more.
