That 7 month remorse feeling that I hoped I'd never feel

When we bought into DVC, we were told by our guide that SSR was the only place available at the time. OK, fine, we bought it. We like it. Don't love it. But it is fine.

We do love Boardwalk, though. And until now, we have never had a problem getting Boardwalk standard view at the 7 month window for the summer. Yet today, at the strike of 9AM, at the start of my 7 month window, I called up --- and nothing was available!

I know July is a popular time of the year, and I know that Boardwalk standard is a popular room category....but I am still bummed. Even though it isn't technically our home resort, we feel like it is. We were really looking forward to going down there this summer and introducing my sister's family to the resort.

I put myself on the wait list, so maybe it will come through. In the interim, I am going to research how much I will lose to sell my SSR points and buy at my preferred resort. If it is a couple grand, it might be worth it.

You are not facing just July you are facing the July 4 holiday. Near park resorts are difficult at that time even for the more plentiful BWV pool/garden view. Also standard view has many times during the year when it is hard to get but BWV pool/garden view is often available.

I just looked, and 1-br's are available in std, pool, and bw views.
Studios and 2-br's are available in pool view.
For studios and 2-br's std or bw view, one day is missing (either July 3, or July 4).

Wonder what it was like at 8AM on line?

Can you book a 1 bedroom since it's available, and waitlist the one you want. Or book the preferred view of the size villa that you want. Even owners have to settle sometimes. :goodvibes

Here's a little update....

I got online this morning for the 8AM start....I was able to get the Boardwalk garden view.

In the end, I am disappointed because it didn't work out "exactly" as I had hoped, but then again, expecting things to go "exactly" as hoped is probably unrealistic.

I have to admit that, although the 7 month booking day is stressful, it is oddly fun to obsess over it.

You can still waitlist what you really want (of course). Don't forget that.

Ahh the studio. I was going to say that I didn't have a problem getting a BWV 1BR standard view for the week of the 4th last year.. Now BLT did not have standard 1Br for the 3rd and 4th...

We own @ SSR also and look forward to trying other resorts. But knowing WDW and crowds we're saving the popular spots for off-rimes

But those "off-times" are getting fewer and fewer. Disney is getting smarter and scheduling parties and other events that guests can pay more money for and fill up the hotels and parks.

Our first trip was in October 1997 and it was a slow time. There were only two halloween parties - Oct 30 and Oct 31. Now they start them in Sept and go into Nov. Christmas parties start the week after the Halloween parties end. They used to start the week after Thanksgiving.

We own at SSR and I confess we have stayed there just once. Don't care for it at all. Loved OKW and have stayed there several times since joining in 2006. Never have cared enough to want to sell it but would only stay there if nothing else ANYWHERE was available. :confused3
