Now that the biggest food holiday of the year is over, I am able to reflect. How did I do?

Could have done better. Could have done worse.

I ate a whole lot of shrimp. I bought and brought some cocktail sauce that had 2 carbs per serving. Didn't use it right away, because my Dad had some already out. Okay, I ate that. Read the label after eating quite a bit of it, and that sauce had 18 carbs per serving!!!!!!!! The damage was already done.

I ate turkey without gravy. Good. Passed on the stuffing. Good. Passed on the mashed potatoes. Great. Had some kind of creamish corn thinking that it looked like corn with cream. Probably a bad idea, because I don't think corn is good on low carb, and it probably also had flour in it or some kind of starch. I had the green beans with the cream of mushroom soup. Also probably not a good choice. I had cole slaw, which might not be bad, except that it may contain sugar.

I had some sugar free jello for dessert, and lots of water.

So......how awful do you think this meal was?

How was your meal?

I am glad it is over, to be perfectly honest.

I definitely had more carbs today than I usually have in 3 low-carb days! However, I considered this a planned indulgence day - I haven't had one since I started 3 months ago.

I left the mashed potatos & stuffing alone - figured I could make those any time if I really needed them. However I ate the things that certain family members only make on special occasions.

I feel I did well and didn't overdo it. I ate but not until I was stuffed. It was a wonderful day and I definitely focused more on the people I was with than on the food.

I also did NOT bring home any leftovers so there is no tempting off-plan food in my fridge to tempt me tomorrow. I'll be right back on low-carb tomorrow morning. I'm pretty proud of myself - I did well today! :sunny:

I too could have done worse, could have done better, but all in all feel like I didn't do too badly except I still feel stuffed. I skipped the dinner rolls, stuffing and mashed potatoes! But I did have sweet potatoes and my sisters cranberry apple salad which probably had some sugar in it. I also had a small piece of pumpkin pie. We have some leftovers so I might cheat just alittle yet tomorrow but then jump back to low carb on Sat. and hopefully any damage that was done (added pounds) will be gone within a few days.

I ate like a pig.
I had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, turnips, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. It was all great, but I cooked it all. I figured with all the work I put into it I deserved to enjoy.
I am at a stand still, lost 20 lbs since the middle of June. I am hoping that by overloading on carbs today and going back on induction tomorrow I can kick my metabolism into something.
I will let you all know if I made a big mistake.
I hope everyone enjoyed their day. Peggie

The numbers are in. I am up 2.5 pounds!!!!!!!! I really didn't do that badly, so I thought. Wow. I expected to stay the same, or maybe be up one pound. 2.5

Well, back to business, and I hope to see a big whoosh soon.:yo-yo:

I ate more than I should have, but I am back to my plan today. I'll be counting the my points until Tuesday morning when we fly out to Disney. I'm glad that everyone had such a wonderful Thanksgiving day.

I ate more carbs than I should have but I kept my portions small, and only had one plate full, no seconds.
I had a 1/2 cup of stuffing, a sliver of cranberry sauce, no potatoes, no corn, I made myself asparagus. I did have a small slice of pie.
I even gave myself the night off from exercise.

I did pretty much as planned. Loaded up on shrimp and meat. Had a wonderful green bean and onion dish. Then had tastes (two bites) of some of the carbs I had been missing.....mashed potato, a brown rice with nuts dish, wheat dinner roll..and I really did only have two bites of each. BUT THEN.....I did have a regular serving of dessert, as planned, Baileys chocolate mousse cake and an after dinner cordial....Frangelico. I swear I felt the sugar hit my bloodstream in about 10 mins! Our meal was early in the day, so I spent the rest of the day with extra water and some more protien about 6 hours later.

Was it worth it? To tell you the truth, the two bites trick was probably a waste. I know I'll be able to pass those things up at Christmas (as I have been every other day). Chocolate, on the other hand, will contine to be a planned treat, but I certainly don't need very much of it. Eating a regular sized serving was too much. This particular cake is wonderful, but sharing a portion will be required.....funny, it's psychologically easier to share a dessert than to just NOT EAT half of it?!?! Why is that? Why require someone else to eat that nasty sugar? Must be a combination of 'wasting' the money on a restaurant dessert along with the 'clean your plate' syndrome.

We went to MIL's house and had her miserable meal. She knows that DH and I have been watching everything, so she made everything normal and didn't bother to provide a diet beverage. We drank water since wine isn't allowed in that house. I guess it's fear of everyone realizing that to get through an afternoon at her house, they'd need ALOT of alcohol. lol

I took one piece of turkey and a little salad. No biggie... I had my lo carb Thanksgiving waiting at home.

We had turkey with gravy made with cream instead of flour or starch. We had mashed cauliflower (OMG so good!) We had broccoli, and cranberry relish made with splenda and stuffing made from Atkins bread. Dessert was a Carbolite cheesecake that only had 1 g carbs per serving. I splurged by pouring each of us a glass of Riesling with dinner. Yes, it was more carbs than we'd usually have, but we definitely didn't overdo it.

I was actually down a couple of pounds on the scale this morning. I think overdoing the carbs sometimes gives you a good kickstart that your metabolism needs.

I had Thanksgiving at my house so I was in control of the dishes made! I did make the tradidtional standards as well but hubby and I avoided those. We had turkey, ham, atkins corn muffins, cranberry sauce made with splenda, green beans and I made us a mozzeralla and roasted pepper salad. For dessert my husband got us 2 slices of cheesecake from ruby tuesday the day before. I did have a spoonful of stuffing and a taste of the homemade apple pie. I also had 2 glasses of red wine. Not too bad at all and we are back on induction this morning for the rest of this week.

Earlier in the day after the half-marathon I finished off the last 2 slices of veggie pizza.

I had Thanksgiving at my house also. We went to visit friends after we ate dinner so I was pretty safe.

I made the traditional dinner for my family , however, I ate my veggie burger and green vegetables. I was tempted by the rolls but did not give in to them.

I had gone up 2 lbs from the day before because of the pizza and Powerade getting ready for the half-marathon. Lots of carbs!

After 13.1 miles and a good SBD meal with my own special dessert made with Splenda I am happy to report those 2 lbs are gone.

I made it through my first Thanksgiving on the SBD and it was not bad at all. I was able to:duck:all those temptations.

It sounds like at least we were all aware of what we were eating and knew if we overdid it we were going to get back on track.

My parents always takes the whole family out to dinner on Thanksgiving so I "planned" for it. I ate anything I really, really wanted, but just small amounts. Started with a small tossed salad with veggies and lite Italian dressing, had a small serving of my favorite crab salad, then I had a filet of salmon, skipped potatoes and stuffing, had some fried okra, a bit of cranberry relish, glazed carrots, no bread at all. Then for dessert I took a piece of carrot cake (yum!) but only ate half and pushed the rest away. :) Did not stuff myself. Allowed myself treats, but didn't go overboard so didn't feel guilty afterward.

This morning (Saturday) I stepped on the scales and TWO MORE POUNDS ARE GONE!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
I was thrilled to say the least!! Only ONE MORE POUND and I can get my new 20 pound clippie!!! Hip, hip, hooray!!
