I am new to this site, I am needing to know opinions of the crowds the week of Thanksgiving. We are debating the first week in November or the week of Thanksgiving. The week of Thanksgiving would be easier b/c of work and school, but I am sure the crowds will be heavy also--but how heavy???? What about the first week in November????

I haven't been the first week in November but have been Thanksgiving week 3 times. The first year was in 1999- we were newbies then and the crowds didn't bother us that bad- but now we knokw that it was crowded. The next year was just after 9/11- it was empty! Then we went in 2003- very, very crowded! MK was closed a couple of days due to filling to capacity. Monday- Wednesday was pretty crowded, Thursday and Friday were a zoo! We spoke to several CMs who said that Thanksgiving week is getting more and more crowded every year. So, after our 2003 trip, we decided to take DD out of kindergarten for a week and me take a week off too- I'm a teacher- and we went during the first week of December. What a fantastic trip- no crowds at all!!! We will do this until I feel the kids don't need to miss a week of school. After that, I think we will try fall break instead. So, here's what I would do if I were you- if you can possibly go another week other than Thanksgiving week- I would. If not, it certainly isn't the busiest of holiday weeks- Christmas!, Easter, etc. Do your homework though, November does have special things like super soap weekend I think and maybe others.
Either way- you're going to WDW!!!!

We've been two times during Thanksgiving week. We flew in both times the Friday before and left the Friday after. Thanksgiving Day was our last day in the parks and it was crowded, but manageable. The beginning of the week was OK. Of course, I'm comparing it to New Year's Eve, which was a zoo!! We'll go again that week, I'm sure. It's a great time to go, you see a lot of Christmas decorations, and the weather is great. If there's a few more people there, that's ok. I think it's worth it!

We went the full week BEFORE thanksgiving last year and it was PERFECT. Low crowds, warm, just great!! We even walked onto some rides(buzz, teacups, dumbo, ect...) in the morning hours(say 930-10ish)......
