We were hoping to camp at Disney for our VERY FIRST trip, planned on going over the week of Thanksgiving to lessen the missed school days. I was shocked to see that, according to Disney's website reservation system--there is no availability that week. (Nov 19-25)

What now?? Keep trying, call the reservation number?? Ditch the whole idea?? We cannot handle the heat of the summer, and because we will be travelling with a high school aged son, he can't miss more than 3 days for this trip.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated. These boards are so full of great ideas. I figured if anyone knew what to do, I would find them here!!

Call CRO at (407) W-DISNEY. Web site is only allocated a certain number of rooms/campsites. And if you call and they are really booked already, put that number in speed-dial and get ready to call back every morning to see if anything opened up. People have gotten in this way before; you never know when someone else will have to cancel.

Good luck! pixiedust:

Just a "p.s.!"....Never, ever "ditch the whole idea!" It's Disney - you've GOT to go! :cool1:

Thank you so very much.

I just found a map of the campground. It's huge. Here's hoping I can luck into a spot. :thumbsup2

Also try the website and do a day by day check. Add a day at a time and see how many you can get at a time. Take what you can get and piece it together. Good Luck!

We are avid campers at WDW during the Turkey Day Weekend and every Thanksgiving we make reservations for the following year. This past year we tried and was unable to get in. 2 days ago I called around 8am EST, givng that hour for people to call and BAM we got our reserevations for the Wed. before Thanksgiving to that Sunday.

I have been trying almost every day, but most of my calls are in the afternoon. Try calling around 8ish. The day I made reservations there were 4 openings and I called my buddy in N.C. who called and made reservations for that weekend also.

Good Luck and don't try stopping...

I agree..you need to call every morning when they first open..and keep calling. Reservations cancel during the night..for those who didn't send deposits required by that day. So your best chance of catching a reservation will be first thing when they open. Also..if you get one day out of the days you want..take that..and keep calling back trying to get the other days. I have found that when you just give central reservations a weekly time frame..they don't check each individual day..unless you ask them. They might tell you nothing available for the time frame you are looking at..then ask them if ANY of the days in that time frame are available. If one is..grab that and work it from there. Now..mind you I've never tried this with FW..but have with other resorts..and I think it's pretty much the same with all the resorts.
As far as your son not missing too much school..I don't know about where you live..but in our district..the kids have off the Monday of Oct. 9 for Columbus Day...that would mean four days..instead of a full week..Also we have off Oct. 2 for the Jewish Holiday Yom Kipur. Just to give you an alternative with some weekdays holidays where schools may be closed...and I've heard that October is a nice month to go to FW. Also you have Veterans Day..and possibly Election day in November too.
