My family and I love to visit Disney, and are DVC members that call Saratoga Springs "home." I am changing jobs, however, and will be starting a new career as an elementary school teacher in the fall. :woohoo: The bad news is my spring break will more than likely not be the same as my kids. :headache: Is Thanksgiving week a good time to go? How is the weather, crowds, stuff like that. Keep in mind that we usually go over Easter, so crowds don't really bother us much. Anyone have any input? :confused3

Hi,
This is our 4th year going at Thanksgiving. For the most part the weather has been very nice. The night s get quite cool but swimming during the day is great. I think one year we went and I remember it was very cold. You will need sweatshirts or fleece jackets in the evening. We mainly go because I do not need to pull my daughter out of school for an entire week which is nice. The week of Thanksgiving is very busy. I have never been there during Easter so I can't compare but it is crowded. The day after Thanksgiving it really clears out and the weekend is usually great. Another nice thing about Thanksgiving is that the day after all the holiday decorations are up as well as the Osborne Lights which are wonderful. I think it's a great time to go even thou it is busy we love it! Good Luck and have a great trip!

Thanksgiving week is busy! But if you mentally prepare in advance for big crowds, you will do fine. Have a plan of what you really want to see and go for it! As DVC members, I'm sure you know the lay of the land so I'm sure you will be fine. I worry about those first timers who plan to go at a busy time of year ... you just know newbies will be overwhelmed with choices and crowds :(

I just booked a quick trip for myself and DS3 for Thanksgiving through the following Sunday. There was availability at pretty much any of the resorts. It was actually better availability than any of the December weekends.

So, is it crazy the weekend after and the following week?? That's when we are going. We fly out bright and early on Black Friday. Should we stay away from the parks or go and tour them??

Saturday will be pretty packed, Sunday will start to ease up. The week after is typically really nice. :thumbsup2

We've been going the 2 weeks after T-day for a few years now and find it to be a very enjoyable time with fairly low crowds. We like it so much we're headed back again this year for 3 weeks!

Thanks for the info!!:wave2: I am not sure what is going to happen yet with my schedule and my kids, but I need to have some options. I need my Disney trip, and Thanksgiving week seems like a good time to go without missing too much school. ::yes:: I am not worried about the crowds, since our normal week to go is Easter and it is usually pretty crazy! :scared1: Now all I have to do is convince my DW!!

Im really try to figure how long the wait time is for rides the few days prior to T-day? I want to be there when the longest times you have to wait is 10-20 minutes tops. Is that even possible? I'm wanting to be there with x-mas decorations but I dont want to be there at a super busy time, and I refuse to be there during pop warner week. So i'm looking at 11/23 - 12/3 '09
Problem is we went the last week of january where there was practically no one there and we never once had to wait more than 5 minutes for a ride. Now i'm spoiled with that, but i REALLY want to see X-mas in Disney. How's the wait for the 1st week of December too?
Thanks

Touring Plans is listing the Tuesday before Thanksgiving through the Saturday after as 7's.
