If you could go either Thanksgiving or Christmas, which would you pick? Thanksgiving would be wonderful for us cause my DS and DH have bdays that week, however, I think it would be amazing to celebrate Christmas at Disney World!!!

What do you guys think???

I would like to know too..I want to go the week after Thanksgiving so I can see the Christmas lights :)

3 years ago we went during TG week and here is why...............While I am sure it is AMAZXING to celebrate Christmas as Disney....I have small kids and didn't want to transport Santa to/from NC/FL.

With that being said - TG was AMAZING! Everything is decorated for Christmas so it "FELT" like being there for Christmas instead of TG and the crowds were not bad at all. We were there from Sun - Fri at Disney and the only time it was crowded was Wed evening - Fri. On Sun-Tue we could walk on any ride we wanted at either of the parks.

My vote would be TG - we go now a lot in Aug (since kids are out of school) but would welcome doing TG week again.

Good Luck with your decision.

We have done both. Christmas is crowded... Thanksgiving is a great time to go and really my favorite, but because of our kids ages Tgiving won't work. We have one in college now (two in the fall) and one that is a dancer so she is always required at rehearsals for The Nutcracker. At Thanksgiving it is decorated for the holidays and the weather is generally really nice. That is not to say that we have not had a rainey day here and there.

This year at Christmas the weather was freezing and rainey and it was extremely crowded. Would I go back at Christmas/New Years? Heck yes if it meat going, but it is crowded.....at least when we were standing in the line for an hour and a half it was not hot!

Even a bad day at Disney is better than a good day at work!

We have had it both ways. It has been fabulous and sunny and we have had it cool and a couple of rainey days. Not so rainey that you can't keep going but it sure messes up a lovely hairdo :rotfl2:. We learned to pack at least one pair of jeans each a just a light jacket or hoodie but usually shorts are fine.

Thanksgiving..Christmas thru New Years isthe most crowded, packedDisney ever gets. Think sardines and the Mk canand does close because it reaches capacity

I want to see disney at christmas to see the lights. Are all the decorations and partys and stuff going on at thanksgiving time??? I may see if DH will go the week after thanksgiving or the week before christmas....how are those times???

Christmas decor goes up throughout November. The big Kick off though is Thanksgiving weekend, when the Candlelight Processional and Epcots Holidays around the World starts.Osborne lights started NOv 10th in 2009, but the year before that it started the Friday after thanksgiving. There are NO Mickeys very Merry Christmas PArties Thanksgiving week ( they never have them then because the parks are crowded, not as bad as Christmas week though) and it ends for the Year around December 18th.

my family and i usually go every year at thanksgiving. this is sooo nice because the lights are already up, it still has that christmas feel and you dont have to worry about telling your gram to sit down and eat already. the only thing is sometimes country bear jambouree isn't set up for christmas yet.. that varies. but thats def not a big deal at all.

we did do christmas in disney once though. however, we left on christmas morning for our flight home. it wasnt bad at all. it was nice to have christmas eve dinner in disney and wake up in disney on christmas morning with tiny stockings that had a park pass for each of us saying we were coming back in november.. pretty cool.. and when we got home, presents were already under the tree. (my dad ended up coming a day later than us.. hmmm wonder why :confused3 :) )

hope this helps a bit!

I"ve done both now. I prefer T-day. It was warmer, which to us is a big factor. We could swim. It was less crowded. It felt more festive, b/c the holidays were just starting. We arrived several days before T and left the day after.
Christmas- We arrrived on C day and left on NYD. It was crowded, but that didn't bother us so much. The weather did put a damper on the trip, it was so cold, we had to really bundle up, I would never go in the winter again. Also, it didn't feel as holidayish to me- I guess we had done so much Christmas stuff at home that it didn't have the excitement as much. However, the C parade at MK was great! It was also really hard to pack and plan in December when there is so much going on.

They never have the Christmas party the week of Thanksgiving because of crowds and they do not want to close the MK at 7pm for a party. The parties also end for the year around Dec 18, again because of the crowds. The good thing about ending on Dec 18th, is that after that the MVMCP parade becomes the daily parade anyway.

We went at TG last year, and it was wonderful. Perfect weather, didn't have any crowd issues. Even though we couldn't see MVMCP, we did see the Osborne Lights and the Candlelight Proc. All the decorations were up, it was a great time to go.
