Thanksgiving meal at WDW...Where did you eat?

I ate at Garden Grill last year for Thanksgiving. It was very good but it really didn't match a Thanksgiving feast as I know it. (but being there was better than at home cleaning up the kitchen!!)

Anyway, we are planning our trip for this year and are thinking about LTT. But I wanted to know where others have eaten on Thanksgiving day and how it was. We are also considering not going into the parks that day (as it is the day we are arriving) so we are curious about places outside of the 4 parks.

The cast includes: me (35), ds (will be 6), ds (will be 2), my mom. We enjoy character meals and we will be on the food plan!!

We ate at Crystal Palace for Thanksgiving dinner 2005. This was our last dinner of a 6 day/5 night vacation. Easily the best meal that we had while we were there. The food and the service was excellent. Pooh, Tigger, Eyeore, and Piglet visited quite often. My 2-year old daughter loved participating in the little in-restaurant parade.

I don't know that you'll find anyplace that tastes like that really good homemade meal your used to at home. We've eaten at Chef Mickey's many times on Thanksgiving day and it's always that pressed turkey kind of meat. Not the good whole turkey that is freshly carved.

I absolutely recommend eating at the Brown Derby on Thankgiving. You can eat anything there, but most of my family got the traditional Thankgiving dinner, which was absolutely delicious. It's a bit expensive, but absolutely yummy!

We had THanksgiving dinner in '04 at Chef Mickeys and it was wonderful. I have to have a full turkey dinner, my dh doesn't care for turkey and dd eats hot dogs and mac and cheese at WDW.....so, CM's really worked for us. We were seated in that top, way to the back/side by a window. It was much quieter than downstairs, we still had the characters and had a beautiful view of MK, and the lake.
I had the turkey and it was very good. It was regular turkey, just like at home. I had smashed potatoes, cranberry sauce...the whole deal, right down to the pumpkin pie!!! Dh had roast beef and loved it.

We ate at Artist Point. It was a pretty traditional meal. especially the cranberry dressing. A little pricey, but the atmosphere, service, food were all excellent and worth the extra money.

We ate at the Grand Floridian Cafe. None of my group ordered the traditional turkey dinner, although it was offered and a lot of the tables around ours ordered it!

Be prepared to book as soon as you hit the 180-day mark though!!! Grand Floridian Cafe was probably my 5th or 6th choice, but the resort restaurants fill up VERY fast for Thanksgiving day, so there was very little available.

We ate at Yachtsman's for Thanksgiving, but you might think about Liberty Tree Tavern at the MK. They serve Thanksgiving food every day of the year!

Last Thanksgiving, we ate lunch at LTT. Everyone in our party enjoyed it a lot (me, DD18, Brother, His girlfriend, Niece 11, Nephews 9 & 7). Nobody "missed" Thanksgiving and agreed it would a good place to return for holiday meals.

Wow! thanks for all the replies. I will be making a list and ranking them in order of the prefered place so that I can easily move to my next choice without missing a beat. My 180 day mark is the 180 day for everyone coming in on thanksgiving. So I've got it on my calendar the day I need to start calling at 7 am so I can get what I want!!!

We do ( think it is called Liiberty Tavern). It is the restaurant back in Frontierland. THey had a great family style traditional thanksgiving dinner.

We had Thanksgiving Dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. There were 9 of us and we all had the turkey dinner served by Aunt Jan. DD's boyfriend got in trouble for not eating his green beans (he hid them) and was served a lovely Green Bean Sundae, complete with whipped cream....just like being at home!! It was quite a treat to have the homey atmosphere and fun!!!

We ate aJikko and it was great as it has been. One had the traditional turkey dinner and said it was good. This year i am planning on Blue Zoo....anyone with any experiences???

We're also going to be at WDW on Thanksgiving Day. This is the next to last day of our trip. We've never been there for Thanksgiving before. Do most or all of the WDW restaurants have a turkey dinner option special for that day? Thanks for your responses!

Ate there in 05. It was wonderfull. I had the traditional meal and my family had the regular menu. I didn't think the $ was all that bad, considering any sit down meal at WDW with a family of 5. I think it ran about $140 with tip.

Have fun deciding, we are going back this year but my family wants to go somewhere new. Might skip the parks that day and eat at Kona (not new though, but new for thanksgiving) since we are staying a the Poly.
