I know, I know... It is still February but Thanksgiving is coming before we know it and that's where you all come in...

We will be traveling with extended family, 8 of us, 4 of which are teen boys.... ok... now you are seeing we will need an all you can eat kind of meal but are still thinking Thanksgiving-like food....

Where would you, have you, should we plan to go? We are not at this time planning on a dining plan so that really isn't the main thing. Also, I have heard here on the Dis so I know it is LAW that MK is busy that day so we hope to avoid it.

I thought of BOMA (Do they even have Thanksgiving items that day?) and Chef Mickeys but mainly because I have been to both and we will be staying at AKL. Please give me your two cents, I have based all my previous decisons on you all before and you have never let me down before! Thanks in advance!

I think BOMA does have Thanksgiving dinner that day, as does most of the restaurants. Have you thought of Cape May Cafe? I'm pretty sure they do Thanksgiving fare, as well.

I have never even eaten at Cape May. What do you love most about it?

we had our Thanksgiving meal at Whispering Canyon Cafe in 2007 and plan to eat there again in 2009. It was wonderful! The antics were toned down for the holiday and the menu was family style all you care to eat. We sat in the very back area overlooking the lobby, behind the regular restaurant and it felt like we were in someone's home. The server brought us more of whatever we asked for and it was a terrific experience. I'll be first on the phone to book it again this year!

Here is a photo of the menu - VERY nicely traditional:

My other photos aren't working, but everything was very, very good. I don't believe we got the green bean casserole at our table, but none of us like it so we were fine with that.

Good luck choosing!

Looking for ideas for Thanskgiving day too! There will be 11 of us. We have done Thanksgiving before, but been in MK. We've been there/ done that. We want to be in a park, but not sure which one and looking for ideas for where to eat. Suggestions welcomed- we'd prefer traditional Thanksgiving meal.

We went during Thanksgiving in '07 with a family of six and enjoyed our meal at the Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. The dinner was wonderful and the theming couldn't be better for the holiday.

thanks so much for posting the WCC menu! We were already planning on eating there anyway, but it was great to see the menu. We will be staying at VWL, and don't want to face the mobs at a park that day. We're thinking a water park in the morning if it's warm enough, and WCC for an afternoon meal. :thumbsup2

You are so welcome! We absolutely loved it there for 2007 Thanksgiving. We had a later ADR (7:00?) so we had time to do early to mid morning at the MK and then time to swim/watch the Packer game before dinner. :cool1:

It was definitely calmer than usual, but still a warm and welcoming place to have a very traditional meal. Can't wait for this year!

:yay: We are planning dinner at the WCC for Thanksgiving 2009 with our very good friends and their children...We are really looking forward to it!

:confused3 Any idea if we can get a different dessert? I see at the bottom of the menu something about substiutions....DH and the kids will not eat pumpkin pie...Can we get vanilla ice cream or something like that?

We were at WDW Thanksgiving 2008, and we had Thanksgiving lunch at Tony's Town Square at MK. It was terrific!! I ordered the pasta thinking the Thanksgiving lunch was not going to be very good....DH ordered the Thanksgiving lunch and it was AWESOME:thumbsup2 !! I sure wish I would have ordered it!

We are LeCellier. The dinner was divine. Plus if they don't want Thanksgiving style food there are other really good things.

We had a traditiona Thanksgiving dinner at The Captain's Grille at the YC last year. It was fantastic! It is a buffet which is nice so we were able to fill up like we would at home. Might go back there this year.

Has anyone ever done Mickeys backyard BBQ for thanksgiving? Thanksgiving at the fort....:confused3

Cape May has a wonderful Thanksgiving Buffet. I 've been twice and would absolutely go again.:thumbsup2
Best advice: stay out of the parks that day;)

You definitely can! DS got vanilla ice cream with Mickey sprinkles since at the time he didn't think he liked pumpkin pie.

They also serve their milkshakes and smoothies. :thumbsup2

We'll be there too! That is going to be our day off from the parks, and for now I think we'll be doing dinner at Chef Mickey's...but may have to consider WCC after all the great post's about it!
