Hi, during thanksgiving is there anything extra that goes on in the parks that makes it worth braving the extra crowds as a tourist in America, specifically Magic Kingdom or is it best to steer clear , thanks

Nothing happens, event-wise, out of the ordinary, except for larger crowds due to the 4-day weekend.

:welcome: to the DISboards, Simon!

Deleted. Excuse my confusion.

The only "special" thing I've seen happen on July 4th was a good humored waiter at Chefs de France doing American History trivia with his tables.
Just in case there is any confusion for non-US guests,
July 4 is Independece Day in the US, and Thanksgiving is
in late November.

Aren't there some special Thanksgiving dinners? I didn't grow up with Thanksgiving so always find it fun to have a turkey dinner with all the fixings.

I have no idea why I read that as July 4th. Thank you for the correction.

No need to offer that as a "special."
That's on the menu at MK's Liberty Tree Tavern every day!
(It's very good!)

Similar meal at Epcot's Garden Grill (inside The Land pavilion.)
(Also one of our favorites.)

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday you'll be thankful if you can go to WDW a week after Thanksgiving:earboy2:

We are going the week before for 2 weeks so will be there during, maybe pop in in the morning and see how it goes

Oh you'll be fine then. That's a long enough trip where you could even stay out of the parks for a couple of days, checkout the resorts, have some nice dinners. Disney Springs will probably be nuts though!

As Robo points out - LTT always has a thanksgiving dinner. I vaguely seem to recall some of the resorts have special offerings for Thanksgiving.

Generally though, Thanksgiving dinners in the US are the last bastions of homemade meals and while some restaurants will serve dinners that day - most are closed.
