I know my Dis Friends can help.

I have a glass roasting pan with no rack. Any suggestions?

Cooling rack, like the kind you use for cooling cookies? Or maybe rough chop some veggies to put on the bottom of the pan and rest the turkey on that??

Macy's or Bed Bath & Beyond should still be open. Well at least here they are, but I live in NY. Hopefully, yours are too! I would run out and try to look for one - even a big super grocery store would have one. If not, sorry, I am not too sure. I'm sure someone else will have a good suggestion. Good luck!

I've never used a rack - and had no problems with it sticking to the bottom of the pan or anything..

Lots of good suggestions here though if you're nervous about it..:goodvibes

I would rather use a rack. Do you have a rack you use for cooling freshly baked cookies? Alternately, I would put a layer of chopped onions, carrots and celery under the turkey. The veggies will all caramelize while you roast the bird, and you should have a nice dark brown stock for your gravy as a result.

I agree. SOme years I've used a rack, and some years not. I can't remember noticing any difference and my turkeys always turn out great.

I agree with the bag idea, plus it keeps the turkey moist, and you don't have to baste. ~ just use the type of bag made for that purpose ;)

If you have the toaster oven with a removable rack that will work also.

You'll be fine without the rack. I've been cooking turkeys for 20+ years and I don't even own a rack for my roaster.

Sears is open from 7 am to Noon Thanksgiving, K-Mart 6 am to 9 pm, Walgreens is open 9 am to 6 pm, so you can have someone go pick one up.

Not sure about your part of the country, but here, most grocery stores are open until at least 3 pm on Thanksgiving.

I've never used a rack. I use a cookin' bag, set several stalks of celery in the bag, then set the turkey on top of the celery - perfect!

I agree with Faye I have been cooking Turkeys too for 30+ years and never used a rack............trying a reynolds cooking bag this year for the first time ever I hope I don't end up with a disaster :rotfl:

But fyi the Walmarts around here are open tomorrow , as well as KMart

Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving
